- May 12, 2008 10:11 am GMTSure thing, was gonna end up doing it anyway because I plan to take on the monumental task of making trophies out of every last unique named and generic npc in the game that I'm forced to kill or that end up dieing through uncontrollable circumstance.

"I CAN STILL FEEL MA PECHE WRITHING IN MY HAND!!! wAhAhA!"-The Great White Hope - May 12, 2008 12:04 pm GMTOn a different note, damn, after reading about the "hang-around npcs", I was under the assumption that Elante of Alinor was a somewhat fragile npc and escorting her all the way to the Fighter's Guild (nice place to relocate her I guess) would be a rather tedious task.
Though, I've got to say, mama can hold her own lol! In the quest dungeon she was doing better than Martin, Jaufree...and me! Oh the embarrassment lol. She always ended the battles with full hp too no thanks to us.
Hell, she might as well have been escorting me. I just went invisible most of the time and let her do most of the dirty work. I've got pretty descent gear for my level too, most of which enchanted with 25% elemental shields. Haha, Elante's a freaking tank! I may replace Umbra with her on the rare occasions I choose to Command npcs into temporary followers.

"I CAN STILL FEEL MA PECHE WRITHING IN MY HAND!!! wAhAhA!"-The Great White Hope - May 12, 2008 3:02 pm GMTI've been trying to test out whether the Seatub Pirates can be made perma-bodies but the idiots won't pick up the staff no matter how far into the wilderness I am.
Tried making a drain hand-to-hand spell but it's only 30 pts. for 10 sec because my Destruction's not that high yet. That didn't work either. Grr, this is frustrating.

"I CAN STILL FEEL MA PECHE WRITHING IN MY HAND!!! wAhAhA!"-The Great White Hope - May 12, 2008 4:59 pm GMTHey, just wanted to say that i've tested the black rock pirates from black rock caverns and they stayed around. They might just be perma-bodies anyways but i don't think so. Although, sadly, they do not keep their "ghost" look =(. On another note, i've found that Umaril does not get swept after you fight him in the sky, so if you can get to him before 7 odd days, he should still be their. A great addition to any army i'd say. I havn't tested him though, but i see no reason why it shouldn't work. Also, i've found that you can't dupe Sir Amiel's ring, not with the scroll trick nor the clone trick. It gets removed from your clone for some reason. Anyways, just thought i'd share and if anyone knows any way i could dupe the ring, I'd gladly appreciate it.
- May 12, 2008 10:35 pm GMTAlright, so I got this bastard Pirate at the Seatub of Clarabella to pick up the Blade of Woe instead of the Hromniir's Staff which I've been initially using. Picked the Blade of Woe up immediately to my surprise. Guess he just doesn't like to use staves.
I leave his corpse near Fort Strand. I wait in Cheydinahaal for 7 DAYS then...
Samara Morgan oozes out of my TV soaking wet and smelling of old sneakers with a touch of simmering poo! She then proceeds to melt my face off, waaaaaaaaah!!!
Hehehe, disregard that last part. Bad joke I know. Anywho, the pirate was still there after 7 days, so confirmed??? w00t!

"I CAN STILL FEEL MA PECHE WRITHING IN MY HAND!!! wAhAhA!"-The Great White Hope - May 13, 2008 3:57 am GMTOne thing that boggles me with the perma-bodies though is that they choose to equip Hromniir's Icestaff automatically when dead even if I drop some randomly enchanted ebony weapon that costs thousands more than Hromniir's Staff into their corpse.
Hmm, now I kinda regret not grabbing the quest weapons from Desolate Mine. Kinda boring having everyone with the Icestaff lol.

"I CAN STILL FEEL MA PECHE WRITHING IN MY HAND!!! wAhAhA!"-The Great White Hope - May 13, 2008 7:37 am GMTGood job on the playtesting, Evilution. I do have to agree that the 'value' of weapons in this game is a bit strange. For instance, the Skull of Corruption outranks most other weapons in the game (including Umbra). I guess it all boils down to the strength of the enchantment on the weapon. So if you're having trouble getting them to unequip the mission-weapon, just equip the skull on them and remove it immediately - if the item outranks even the skull, something like goldbrand or dawn/duskfang should do the trick.
- May 14, 2008 6:32 am GMTI'm sure by now someones tryed this,so it's really more of a question than anything.
The wizards tower glitch gives access to some intresting places (IE the play testing arena for the developers)
In such a strange place surely it's possible to make impossable things happen-for example:
If my memory serves the player interms of moving can go considerable distances when looking on the map and in essence go 2 places at once as on the oen hand the world you see infront of you is the test arena yet the game stilll believes you to be in cyrodil.
Now as far as i knwo the greater power summonGoldensaint spell does work regardless of where you are so would it be possible to test things such as forcing the game to translocate you by loading/deleting the wizards tower patch.
Also would the self replicating sigil stones found i the dummy sigil tower be of use in some sort of "Live statue" gimmick?
Just wondering if they've been tryed and if not what fun could be possibly made. - May 14, 2008 5:40 pm GMTI have a question. Does anyone here know why reanimated cadavers sometimes will unequip the weapon I gave them and fight hand to hand?
If you are seeing this, you are posting from Gamespot. Please cease and desist.
- May 14, 2008 7:09 pm GMTThe only reason I can think of is that their h2h skill is high enough to be more powerful than the weapons they have equipped - you see this more often in very low-level characters who are actually more powerful with their fists than anything else. You can find some higher-level NPCs with h2h as their main focus, like Branwen and Salith, but beyond that I think it's just a touchy bit of programming that comes with the territory of this exploit (like how NPCs will never pick up a weapon in a town or house). Hopefully that helps.
- May 14, 2008 7:37 pm GMTNephilimRising, If you want the bodies to equip the weapon, (which will probably be more for looks tahn anything else, as they do more damage with their fists) simply enchant it with a fortify blade/blunt enchantment and they should equip it then.

"I'll talk slow so you don't have to listen fast". -- Unknown - May 15, 2008 3:47 am GMTSo I tried cloning some NPC's tonight and it wasn't working. I'd drop the stave inside a cave and walk out. The NPC would follow me but would disappear soon after.
I have a fully patched Oblivion and I'm guessing that's the problem. Am I right on this assumption? Or am I just doing something wrong? - May 15, 2008 4:23 am GMTLMAO, I just found a rather amusing glitch where in the Trolls of the Forsaken Mine quest you can bypass the mine all together and get SPOILERS...

Viranus Dolton's body into the Chorrol Fighter's Guild with relative ease. At first, I was commanding Viranus Dolton to see if he could actually come with me on the quest, you know so I could like take him to his own rotting corpse lol? Well turns out after talking to Modreyn, Viranus croaked on the spot right next to Modreyn hehe. So I didn't even have go to the mine at all and just looted his diary in the Fighter's Guild. Though I'm still probably going to head to the mine to fish out the other bodies for my collection.
Also, I'm not sure if this has been stated already but I believe Maglir is hang around npc, atleast until the final Fighter's Guild quest and after More Unfinished Business.
Gonna see if I can get Mags to come to Chorrol with me so that I can put him in charge of guarding Viranus' dead body hahaha!

Archmage Traven alive, thereby enabling one to do all sorts of amusing scenarios such as taking Traven along to confront Mannimarco.
According to the wiki...
Sometimes, for unknown reasons, Hannibal Traven does not sacrifice himself. If reloading an earlier save results in the same, pickpocket Traven for the Filled Collosal Black Soul Gem (Be sure not to get caught pickpocketing him, or you will be kicked out of the Mages Guild), or, as technically you don't need it, proceed without the gem. Continue with the quest as normal, and when you return to the Mages Guild, Traven will be gone and you will be Arch-Mage.
-It hasn't been confirmed, but silencing the Arch-Mage before he soul traps himself could also cause this bug.
-Talking to Traven immediately just as he is soul trapping himself will prevent him from dying.
So before he needlessly suicide bombs himself, just silence or talk to him immediately. Then once you've made sure he's calm the burning rage that lies within, clone him, kill clone and grab the Colossal Black Soul Gem from the clone's inventory sparing silly Traven's life.
Since the real Traven would still have the quest item on his person, he can't disappear correct? So when you're through, pop a command on Traven a have a blast...or kill him anyway, your call lol.
If anyone's near this point in the Mages Guild quest line, feel free to test this out if you want. I'm interested in knowing whether or not this will work.

"I CAN STILL FEEL MA PECHE WRITHING IN MY HAND!!! wAhAhA!"-The Great White Hope - May 17, 2008 8:05 am GMTIt all depends on how the 'sweep' affects Traven if he remains alive - in my experience no mission-item will prevent the sweep from happening to a corpse if that corpse is meant to be swept. My guess is that Traven just disappears after fighting Mannimarco, but you never know until you try.

I was just thinking maybe you could trick the programming into not sweeping him since the wiki mentioned he sometimes won't cast fire on himself and if he still remains alive with the Colossal Black Soul gem still on his body he may still remain.
But I get your point. I'm thinking some sweeps are activated by quest updates. For example, more SPOILERS...
For the Cheydinhal recommendation, I brought Vidkun's body right up to Falcar, and as soon as I checked it Falcar disappeared right in front of my eyes. Granted he didn't die, but he was still "swept" in a way away from the Cheydinhal Mages Guild.
Also I brought Rogbut (female noble orc) with me all the way to the Cheydinal Fighters Guild before I did the quest the Noble's Daughter. As soon as I talked to Burz about Rogbut, she disappeared in front of my eyes as well.
So maybe my theory's wrong but still it'd be nice if someone around that part of the Mages Guild questline could check. I'm thinking I'm atleast another 2 weeks away IRL from beginning the Mages Guild again. Though curiosity may get the better of me and I may decide to pull an all nighter speed-run to the top of the Mages Guild ladder just so I can see with my own eyes.
