*NEED HELP* wanting the most out of this adventure in both Skyrim and Dawnguard.

Wish I could have seen ahead, I just recently got to start Skyrim and when Dawnguard dropped I started it before even knowing that there can be some extra perks to help make your adventure even better such as playing the Companions Quests prior to playing Dawnguard, definitely wish I had the werewolf cause I am not feeling the vampire myself.But I do got one thing going for me still though and that is the save I still have from a level 12 just after finishing Act 1 of the Main Quest.My current progress with the Dawnguard is level 22 at the current Quest:Scroll Scouting.So I guess what I am wanting advice and opinions on is if I would have more of a adventure going back to the previous level 12 save and maybe doing the Companions Quest as well as some other Side Quests you can lose in some of these little towns from villagers that die and you lose your chance to accept or find they're Quest and also was wondering if there is much as far as leveled loot in the DLC so I know whether or not to raise my level a little more than just a little before even going back to Dawnguard later if I choose to go back to the previous early save.Kind of a hard decision trying to choose whether to go back that far back or not after I have already beefed up my character a noticeable amount but like I said I want the most out of the adventure but before going back to that save I would like to know from some others who have had the chance to put more time into the game whether I should go back or remain where I am at, I am just trying to get the best experience I can get with this O.G.
