Where to start? This pack is by far the greatest value to ever pass into any gamer's lap. Even though the three games run on the same engine, there similarities are very slim with virtually no overlap whatsoever.
Half Life (which I am only beginning to play) is a great shooter, with a great story, interesting characters and great mechanics. I need to look at guides occasionally to get past certain roadblocks, but most of the time it's great fun.
Then there is Portal. Wow. This game is worth the $30 on it's own. Although I beat in an all-too-short 7 hours, it is the best 7 hours of gaming you can possibly have. The puzzles are mind-bending, the dialog hilarious, clues mystifying. This game is an instant classic.
Then there is Team Fortress 2, which has consumed over 90 hours of my life. This is by far the best and most unique shooter I've ever played. With 9 unique, well-toned, balanced and fun classes, you almost never get tired of playing it. The game is also hilarious, and shows that what makes a great shooter isn't realistic graphics and physics- it's well toned, balanced and unique game-play. And what astounds me is that they are STILL releasing class updates, and NEW MAPS for free! They also are incorporating weapon and map-making contests and adding them to the official game!
And what amazes me is that all of this is for the low price of $30 on Steam (and sometimes LOWER)! They also have it so it's compatible with Macs with no additional cost, has your game sync over multiple computers and gives you developer tools in one package! So if you don't have this and have $30 lying about, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU WAITING FOR? You will not regret it. :P

Greatest value in a video game ever. If you don't own it and are even mildly interested First Person Shooters, buy it!

Old games? Sure. But if you haven't bought this product yet, you're missing out on a great deal.
