I'm really hoping Funcom pulls this off, but at this point I'm skeptical.

We're 27 days from launch, and the very first quest is bugged. Completing it dumped me back into the starting area, but now I'm naked, bald, and surrounded by other people in the same condition. And when I quit it gave me BSOD. Not a promising start.

Also, character creation option are really limited, at least for male avatars. At least give us some color choices. We don't all want to look like Neo.

Combat appears largely twitch based, at least in the tutorial. I'm hoping this is supposed to be a scary mission where you can't tell what's happening, because all the combat in the videos has looked nothing like this. We'll see when I relog.

Oh, and finally: AoC had amazing graphics at launch, what, four years ago? If you put the two games side by side, you would think this was the older game. Here's hoping later areas are better looking.

Funcom, don't be scared to roll launch back! Don't give in to the EA monster and launch this thing in it's current condition!

I would delay launch because this game sucks! I played the beta after months of anticipation and it was an epic disappointment.

I don´t believe we´ve been playing the same game. Might want to check your visual settings mate...

Ok, at the end of the Beta Weekend, I'm actually much more positive about the game. After the BSOD glitch in the first mission, everything else ran smoothly. Kingsmouth was actually a great deal of fun. Here's hoping they don't pull another Tortage on us!

Anyway, I'll give it a month.

honestly, i think it deserves a chance - when i first heard of it i thought hmmm cool idea...lets see how it works out...then when i saw and read some things i though - oh no - looks really boring and bad... then for some reason i won a beta key and though well let's see... after the first 30 mins i was just about logging out and never thinking about it again - i thought it was really bad...but for some other reason i played through all of kingsmouth - and funny enough, the longer i played, the more i started to like the game and now i preordered...i think if you want to give the game a chance, you need to force yourself to play at least some chunk of it - it starts to shine later on

There isn't much content, the open beta is one of 8 combat zones. This game is developed with free to play in mind, hence the cash shop and life time subscription. The demo zone of Kingsmouth is polished but at the same time it has bugs galore, I got stuck often and /stuck or portal didn't resolve the issue. The bulk of the game is quests having you kill things or pick up things just like other MMOs but because there are so few quests compared to other MMOs the developers made all quests repeatable.

Anarchy Online and Age of Conan were for a lack of a better word, garbage from day 1 until today and the same guys are in charge. The developers are already selling weapon packs in TSW for $15.

I agree with the OP and believe this game will do much worse than Age of Conan, witch means less support and development compared to a game that received very little support or development. My justification is because combat is dull and you spend so much time in combat and because the game is story driven so most people will plow through the story and get bored, just like SWTOR.

I've played in the beta weekends and I though I was very skeptical about this game ("Another MMO, more of the same"), after playing the beta weekends my mind changed completely.  The investigation missions are really good and I've not seen anything similar in a MMO before, the skill wheel looks pretty good, the atmosphere of the game is as good as it could be, etc.

Sure it doesn't have stunning graphics and I experienced like... 2 or 3 crashes and I got stuck in a place once, but those are bugs to be expected in any new MMO launch. Anyway, after playing these beta weekends I'd not say that TSW is a "crushing disappointment", but more like a "delighting surprise". I loved what I saw, enough to be 90% sure I'll get this game, though I'm sure that a lot of people won't like the game for various reasons, between them not trusting Funcom, which is normal after AoC fiasco.

    Just my 2 cents. guys

Complaining about the lack of customization at the start is nonsense, it's obvious that you're meant to collect and earn new customization looks as you progress through that game.

The game crashing constantly sounds like a just you problem, game hasn't crashed once for me ever maxxed out. People also too hard on this game, it will undoubtedly last longer than RIFT and SWTOR regardless of it's overall acclaim. The somewhat clunky animations and minor bugs can be easily overlooked and improved upon. The game has a new and refreshing system on how skills are attained and how customization works without having a level system, and the content is sufficient to keep most players entertained until future content is released in the coming months (something all mmo releases failed to provide and why SWTOR died almost instantly).

This games not perfect but it's a solid mmo, and I would advise people to actually try the game and not take these haters too seriously, most of them are probably just upset about minor problems in the game and haven't put any actual time into the game beyond beta. Then again there are those who just plain hate the gameplay because it's not as flashy or fluid as "insert generic combat mmo," The games not for everyone, especially those who play WoW or Tera seem to hate it because they can't understand the clear difference's from their generic mmo's that are overlooked :/
