Go to the applications folder, find the sims 3 folder, right click on the app, select "Show Package Contents" which will open a folder with "Contents" in it.
Follow the folder Contents -> Resources -> transgaming -> c_drive -> program files -> Electronic Arts -> The sims 3 -> then make a folder titled "Mods" and a folder titled "Packages"
You need to put the reference file in the "sims 3" folder before "mods"

Angel, especially with odd numbers attached, is more likely to be a woman's nickname. Remember that.

I put a shortcut on my desktop for that afterwords, since you can't get to it any way except by right clicking on the app. Its an otherwise hidden folder.
