The Sims is a classic, and one of the best-selling series of all time.

- Difficulty:
- Easy
- Time Spent:
- 100 or More Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Worth playing"
The Sims is a simulation game, where you control people called "Sims" to a life of good or bad. You have complete freedom over their destiny, whether you set them on fire or have them pursue a career of perfection.
Pros:
Suitable for everyone
Simple gameplay and not a steep learning curve
Lots of details that makes things interesting
Endless possibilities
Cons:
Camera pans too slowly
Poor pathfinding
Some bugs here and there
One of the most striking characteristics of The Sims is that it is suitable for pretty much everyone, from casual gamers to hardcore gamers. It is not hard to grasp the concepts because of its simple gameplay, but also lots of details that help keep the game interesting. Finally, there are endless possibilities of what you can do with your Sims.
Also, I have not mentioned this earlier, but it is very easy to buy, sell, and build stuff with the handy Buy Mode and Build Mode. With some help with the keyboard, you can make a normal 1-story house in no more than 10 minutes, regardless of your skill level.
There are some bad parts about The Sims, mainly its camera control and pathfinding. Your Sims will get stuck often, and it's hard to tell them where to go without bumping into problems. The camera is sluggish, which can be a minor annoyance, especially on bigger houses. Zooming out lessens the stress, but better camera control would've been nice.
There are occasional glitches and crashes that can hamper your experience. But most of the time, you'll find yourself having fun and caring (or torturing) your Sims for a long time.

Despite it's flaws (and there are some big ones) the fact this game changed peoples' lives makes it amazing.
