This year GameSpot's Community Team and GameSpots faithful rangers will be heading the charge in an attempt to seek out GameSpots Union of the year. Currently those who will be on the ballot are those unions that have already been featured in the Weekly Report.

If you haven't been featured yet never fear there is still time! Just post below your desire to be cast into the pool and be sure to stay tuned for details on how you enter in the running for GameSpots Union of the Year.

We are taking submissions up until November 4th at 12:00pm PST.

ONLY UNION LEADERS MAY ENTER THEIR UNION INTO THE POOL FOR VOTING!

My union is pretty new, can I still enter in the running?

You sure can, there is NO age limit on your union.

My union might only have a few dozen people, but we are really passionate and post frequently, can we still enter the running?

Yes you can! There is NO member minimum requirement for your union. Though the more active you are the higher the likely hood of your union being chosen.

My union is super awesome, but we're not video game specific... we talk about other kinds of media, can we still enter?

Yes indeed! The Union does NOT have to be video game specific?

Will you only be choosing 1 union of the year? That seems a little tough...

Of course not! We understand that there are different feels for different unions, some are serious, some are funny. So it was decided that we will be having categories for the 2011 Union awards and yes, Off Topic Unions are one of them.

How do I enter in the running?

Roll call with the name of your union below, you will then be contacted with your campaign kit, this has your next step in it. Last date to roll call is November 4th at 12:00 PM PST.

I know we aren't going to win, but the more unions the better. It helps supports these competitions, so I'll enter The Gamers Planet

So what happens if some big union out there is not aware of this union? How do you all intend to spread word to all of gamespot about this event?

Put in the effort and tell other union leaders. I'm gonna tell one or two.

You're already entered Cloud, your union was one of the union of the weeks a while ago so it's automatically entered.

It's still not fair though, it'll be similar to how it was last year in those regards, except worse in the sense that there hasn't been nearly as spread of it as last time. While last year's awards didn't work exactly as planned, we were able to spread the word to unions which some of us had never even heard of.

I'll nominate All-Out Pokémon. I doubt we'll receive any award, but even being in the running could be beneficial to the awareness of the union's existence.

Much agreed. I didn't know of the existence of this thread until I actually came to the forum and noticed it. The message needs to announced to the community in a way so that many more union dwellers who aren't as aware of the happenings around GS can know of this. Otherwise, it could turn out very bland. As well, I like the nominations system from last year much better, rather than only nominating a union if you're a leader.

I also think that a thread directing here is necessary on the Unions/Teams/Guild Recruitment board.

Last year we were ruthlessly advocating it everywhere imaginable and managed to create a stir like never before among unions. We created sigs, blog templates, message templates, etc. that anyone could use to help spread the word without having to go through the hassles of having to type up their own message. While things may have fallen apart at the end, we were effective in spreading the word using those methods, and unless whoever has decided is going to do these awards does something similar (or even better if it's admins) then I don't see these awards having the same magnitude of unions involved as last year's.

I like the idea of going about it, however there needs to be a stronger push for spreading the word. Not many people know of the Union Leader Council, and it's not going to spread by itself.

If GS has a way to send an auto PM to everyone on the site like I know I've gotten some for things when I got a level boost and things of that sort then that would be a great way to go about it since they could hit up a ton of users.

I'll ask Synthia if we can send a mass PM. If possible, it would be great if you guys could let everyone know about the awards this year as well!

Just coming in to say I got the mass PM, as I assume that was. Best advertisement possible, very nice.

I've actually PMed Synthia with some possible methods to spread the word like it was done last year. I'm still awaiting her response before I'll go about it since I want to see what she has in mind.

Hey, glad to see some GameSpot staffers still care about their Unions.

I'll enter World Wrestling Everything, the #1-ranked Union before the levels froze.

Woo! Woo! Woo! You know it!
