FALLOUT 4 Massachusetts

Post update:

Fallout 4 is set in Massachusetts, home of The Institute, androids, freedom fighters

Bethesda has declined to comment {to IGN} on the rumor of a Boston setting for now. Trust me Hierarchy members if you want someone to believe something, deny it! The fact that they haven't called this a hoax speaks loads. I'd say Bethesda set the whole thing up!

I wonder if we will see Dr Madison Li?

The old post:

  • Fallout 4 has been confirmed to be published by Bethesda.
  • It is believed that F4 will run on the new Creation Engine (thank god!).
  • Obsidian is working on Wasteland 2 so it's doubtful that they will work on the F4 project.

Where would you like it to be set, and why?

New Orleans, or the Commonwealth are my picks.

New Orleans is very different from DC or the Californian/Mojave areas, it has swamps, mosquito's (think big *gulp*), a lot of alligators, snakes, voodoo temples, Bourbon Street, Americas biggest and most important industrial port, a troubled history, the Mississippi river and those great ferry boats! I could go on forever!

As for the Commonwealth it has been hinted at by Bethesda before.

As a Louisiana resident, I would like to see New Orleans as the new Fallout location. However, I didn't really like the Point Lookout DLC for FO3, and that terrain seems similar to what a nuked New Orleans would probably look like.

Not exactly F4 news but if you've never played it it will keep you going until F4 arrives!

This is great news!

However, I'm a little disappointed that Obsidian aren't likely to be involved because they tend to be better at storytelling than Bethesda.

But we'll see.

You know I really wish I had seen this before I sent out the last telegram

The Institute is likely the descendant of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Little is known about The Institute other than that the scientists working in the sealed environment possess highly advanced technology and technological skills. The Institute has created true artificial intelligence (AI) and is capable of manufacturing androids, also referred to as "synths" - short for "synthetic human".

Another organization active against The Commonwealth, the Railroad, functions in direct opposition to the Institute. Named in honor of the Underground Railroad, the Railroad's mission is the rescue and salvation of synthetic humanoids primarily, though enslavement as a whole is also fought against.

There is a special branch of The Commonwealth Police called the Synth Retention Bureau. It is tasked with recovering synths that attempt to escape from the Institute.

What do you hope to see in Fallout 4?

I want to see a DLC Expansion into New York that is situated south of Boston.

I also want to see more interaction with the world. In the same vein that we have seen with the difference in content between Oblivion and Skyrim.

I want to be able to rebuild the world! Not just in actions but scavenging metal and forging it into parts for buildings, maybe even make your own town with the choice to invite the people you want to live under your mercifull, or brutal rule. Placing who you want into the jobs you require like farmers, sherrif, store keepers, scientists, or in the alternative raiders, slavers, and enforces! Placing the buildings you want where you want into the space you have selected and protect it from those who would do it harm.

You could make alliances, and set the laws of the land that would greatly affect who attacks and what happens dynamically, including what supplies you get and how people see you in your travels!

Will you lead a town who follows you like a religious cult, a band of ruthless slavers who pillage nearby towns rather than align with them, or will you build a trading outpost, a scientific community, or just a community of people who endeavour to have a better life, or a mixture? the choice would be yours!
