...What on earth is going on?

I'm not sure how I feel about Jeff Gerstmann being let go. Being a history major, I like to try and make my decisions based off of facts. I've done my best to look into things from all perspectives, but nothing seems to really add up. Here's what I know:

    - Kane and Lynch was his last review. His review was lower then most, but not by much.

    - The video review was removed from the site. Youtube users have made sure it remains on the internet.

    - According to the 12/04/07 Hotspot, the other editors were unaware of Gerstmann being let go. Also, according to the hotspot, the video review had poor quality and only showed the first level.

you can see the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBD0cUeeEQc

    - According to Cnet, the Decision to loose Gerstmann came from numerous events, not just the one review.

When I add it all together, I find myself baffled. The one piece of evidence that throws the wrench in the others, aside from the rumors that are abound, is the review. If Gerstmann has been skating on thin ice, why wait until this review? It looks terrible to gamespot and Cnet. I'm willing to admit it may have just been poor timing. I also, however, took the time to look at the video review. The first level comment is definetly accurate. With the exception of a few multiplayer shots, we don't really see much of the game. That being said, I really see nothing wrong with the quality of the review.

I will say this much. I will never know what goes on behind closed doors at gamespot. However, if the rumors are true, and Gerstmann was fired for having integrity... i tip my hat to him. There is no better way to bow out then to remind us all what it truly means to be a journalist. This whole event was handled horribly by gamespot, and I hope in due time the air of mystery around all this is finally taken care of.

The T-Virus outbreak will not be televised... or at least, not for long.

Please disregard all previous blogs, as they were written over a year ago. I've been without a computer of my own for quite some time, but those days are past me now. I'm back on gamespot, and I intend to stay this time.

To make matters more interesting, I've appearently been promoted to leader of the Capcom Union. Now that I'm aware of this, I'm all that more resolute to stay on gamespot this time around. I joined the Capcom Union when it was created, and even got to be one of the first officers. I was active for about a year... then college happened. I came back occasionally when i could to check on things, but without a steady home or computer it was a bit difficult to get involved in any kind of discussion.

I logged on for the first time in almost a year and lo and behold, I'm leader. It's a bit of a suprise to say the least, but it would appear Final_Crusade resigned and left me in charge. I intend to make it work.

I've taken my E-mail off the no-see list, so that if I ever vanish again everyone in the Union can e-mail me asking what the heck happened to me. I owe everyone that much.

I was happy to see that even with the confusion, a few people were posting. Though the union isn't terribly active, there's been at least enough activity from time to time to know it isn't dead. We've got plenty to discuss, especially in these upcoming months.

    Urge to kill...rising.

I was reading the community reviews the other day...

God help me. These reviews make me churn with hatred. Honestly, "This game would be good if it was more like GTA: San andreas," or," my favorite part is," or-this one is good- "I don't really lke this kind of game." (Then why the bloody hell are you writing a review on it?)

Ok... its one thing to like san andreas, but to compare it to every other game out there? Urgh. It just drives me up a wall. All I want to know about is the game.... thats all. Not something completely different from it that has nothing to do with it's genre in even the least. honestly, Burnout 3 should not be like San andreas. I really don't feel that to be true.

Only one person by the name of AzelKosMos knew what they were doing in terms of reviewing. Azel had *gasp* facts! and presented them! with arguements! and evidence! I was very impressed and happy.

    that is all.
