    Zerglings and Marines

As I further explore the world of the Starcraft II Beta, today I tried out Zerg. The Zerg, I found, have a very unique and different way of playing to the other races, but nevertheless I was able to fumble through and beat the AI I was facing. I concluded that while I can indeed use Zerg, I don't think I should focus on them. Once that finished, I found I still had yet more free time, so I dedicated this to trying again as Terrans. I found I was able to beat the enemy this time round, as I know knew what I was doing. However, I've concluded that I should try and focus on using Protoss, but using either Terrans or Zerg are alos feasible. Later, I will continue on to the actual competing, so I'll see you then!

    The Terran's Defection (to Protoss!!!)

Continuing from yesterdays post about my epic defeat in the Starcraft II Beta, today I decided to "expand my horizons", as it were. I thought to myself, 'Maybe I should try out other races. Maybe I'm not destined to play Terrans?'. So I tried using the race of my arch-enemy; The Protoss. Deciding on a 2v2 battle with 3 AI, I actually won the battle in about 30 minutes flat. Suprisingly, I am actually rather proficient with Protoss. Their gameplay is much more similar to that which I am used to, and the actually have defence turrets they can use straight off, unlike the Terrans, which seem to only have Anti-air straight off, with the normal auto-turrets built using some sort of obscure process. Anyway, I quickly created a small group of about 3 Carriers, a Mothership and 4 Zealots, and owned the two Terran bases that were opposite mine. So far, I actually believe that Protoss may be the race for me! But wait till my next post, where I shall tell my adventures as a Zerg. Stay tuned...

    Starcraft II Beta!

Nary two weeks ago, I got my Starcraft II Beta Codes. This was something big. I haven't gotten to play till today, with five days left till the beta ends, but, in summary, it is EPIC!!! However, I did get smashed, so very, very, smashed, but what can I say? I'm a beginner, and I suck. Anyhoo, it is a brilliant games, and I can't wait until it comes out. However, I'll just quickly go into detail about my first battle.

I used Terrans, my teammate used Zerg, and my enemies were both Protoss. I was annhilated in 30 minutes. I must say, it is amazing how quickly (or perhaps not so quickly) the Protoss can kick-up a dozen Carriers, which are rather large capital ships. I suprised that I lasted so long, actually! After sending in my tiny defence force (6 Vikings and 3 Marauders) to the aid of my ally, I say them smashed to smithereens in less than a minute, then watched in horror as the large army of Carriers overwhelmed what I thought was a good defence (4 missile turrets and 2 bunkers full of 8 marines in total). Within 2 more minutes, my base was utterly destroyed, I had no more units that I could use, and I watched as my ally was similarly swatted aside.

While I can say that I was indeed the weak point in that game, at least I now know that what I think is a good defence is actually a rather useless one. I'll try and bring you all more updates from the front lines in coming days! This is BaronSector, signing off!

P.S. My Battle.net account is Dusknight, if anybody wants to add a weak little beginner to their friends list.
