It's Playstation time!
OK...maybe not quite yet, but I have decided to definitely get a PS3 soon, around christmas time to be exact, since I will have a few spare pennies. So, I will be on the lookout for some good quality PS3 bundles for a good price. I haven't decided whether to just get a 40GB model or get an 80GB model, although I am leaning on the 40GB model because I don't think I will even get close to filling that up, never mind an 80GB one, but I haven't really decided yet. As for the games, it just depends on what is in the bundle, and if MGS4 isn't in the bundle, I will make sure to get that at the same time too. It will also be perfect timing for The Dark Knight being released, it means I will get it on Blu Ray instead of DVD

Anyway, I finished Army of Two. It was a decent enough game, for what it was, but I just played with an AI partner the whole way through and it got annoying. If I managed to get dropped, the AI would come and get me, but not drag me to a safe place and it would just get shot. There were a few annoying moments in the game, but it was pretty fun, for a little while. I started with Bully on the 360, and I have sunk a good few hours into that game, even though I am only on the second chapter (A good chunk of time was spent getting some achievements), and it's a pretty good game. Nothing major has changed from the PS2 version, and I haven't had any major glitches like what was reported back when it came out. It's quite fun.
Crysis arrived, and I have played a total of 30 minutes of it since it came. I just haven't been in the mood to spend a lot of time with it just yet, but I will play it more at some point. As for the other order I mentioned in my last blog, The Force Unleashed, it got cancelled by the online shop; when I ordered the game, it was at a sales price, but apparently I ordered when it was out of stock, but they said they would send it as soon as they could, but when I checked the other day, it was cancelled and they had raised the price back up to full price. I haven't bothered to order it again because I can wait, especially with some games coming out soon.
I have Far Cry 2 arriving day of release, so that is very soon. I also have ordered Gears of War 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour, and that is both for 7th November here in the UK, so two big games on the same day for me. There will also be some other games that I will buy in the next two months, but I haven't definitely decided yet.
And not to mention Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise arrived this morning from my rental service, so that's a game that I will sink many others into.

Werckmeister Harmonies? Anyone?
So, not often do I talk about films on my blog, but I watched one film yesterday that blew me away. You may or may not know that I study English Literature and Film at university, so part of my course is watching films. The film module for this semester is European Cinema, and yesterday we watched a Hungarian film called Werckmeister Harmonies. I must confess now that I haven't been completely blown away like that in a long time. The film is made up of amazing scenes, amazing shots, amazing music and guess what, it's an outstanding achievement in film.
The film also has one of the best introductions you will ever see in a film. Here is the opening scene of the film, notice that it doesn't use cuts or edits, so think how hard it must have been to get that scene done right. I don't expect everybody to like this, but if you do have an open mind about film, or already love film more than at base level, then I HIGHLY recommend you watch this scene.
I can't believe I didn't see this film until yesterday, but nevermind, I will be buying it now. And to show how good it is, I would definitely add it into my personal "Top 10" best films ever list, if I made one.
Aside from being back at uni, I haven't been doing much. I played and finished Dark Sector, which I actually enjoyed. It had dull moments, but it was a better game than I thought it would be. I have made a start to Army of Two but I have only done the first mission so far, so I don't have much to say yet. Bully: Scholarship Edtion (360) arrived this morning, so I will get started on that once I have finished Army of Two.
Crysis should be arriving in the next couple of days, I can't wait to get playing that. And I also ordered Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. I know there are mixed feelings out there, but I felt like buying another new game, and I am still wanting to play it, so I bought it, although the dispatch has been delayed so I don't know when I will actually get it, but hopefully it's not too long away.

A Day of Duke
I downloaded Duke Nukem 3D on XBLA last night, and it's great! Me and a few other guys from here got together last night after On the Spot, and after some arranging rooms due to major lag, some of us finally started playing. After a some time, we were half way through the game and called it a night, saying we would continue tomorrow (today).
So, we started playing mid-afternoon, finished the second half of the story, then played the second half over again finding secret areas and helping Karl (Sidburn19) get the acheivements he needed. We finished all that and then I decided to just start playing some ranked deathmatch matches, and before I know it, it's hours later and I have completely finished Duke Nukem 3D. I have all 200 points, it wasn't too hard really, if you have played it before.
As for the game itself, after spending about 12 hours with it now, it's a great port. Everything that you want from Duke Nukem 3D is in this port, as well as more e.g. 8 player online co-op, although that doesn't work too well. 4 player co-op works fine though. The online deathmatch is pretty standard, and expect lag, but it's OK, but it's not what you will want to spend time with. It's been years since I have played some Duke Nukem, and it has been fun playing it after all this time. I recommend any fans of the game to download this version and relive the memories.
I haven't really been playing many other games, aside from Geometry Wars 2, which I have spent a lot of time playing recently. I finally have all the top spots on my friends leaderboard, with some pretty damn decent scores, for King mode, I am ranked 184th in the world, which isn't too bad.
And I finished Mercs 2. I don't really want to talk about that game, it's a glitched mess and the GS review does a pretty good job at summing the game up. The rental games I have out at the moment are Dark Sector and Army of Two, none of which I have played yet, but I will soon, I think.
One last thing, I finally got round to buying Crysis on the PC. I have ordered it tonight, so hopefully it will be sent out too me soon, and be here soon after. I am looking forward to it.
