My life for Footage!
These special viewers caught all three days of GameSpot's live stage show at E3 2007. Now if we only put subliminal messages into our broadcasts, we'd have an army to take over the world...

w00t! Not only did I get emblems for all three conferences, but I also got a special emblem (shown above) for watching all three days of E3 coverage! I was secretly hoping those of us that spent hours upon hours listening/watching GameSpot's E3 coverage would get an emblem, and was slightly disappointed when one didn't show up. But finally, it has arrived!

Though I wasn't thrilled with the GameSpot interviewers (eg. If you're interviewing someone from Valve, make sure the interviewer actually played Half-Life 2...WTF?!?!?), the coverage, overall, was pretty good. It covered a lot of different genres and all systems, including the handhelds. I only wish I knew how to submit questions because some of the questions asked were freaking idiotic. Owell.

E3 2007 may not have had the glitz and glam of previous E3's, but there was a wealth of (excellent) information.

E3 2007 Press Conferences Analysis

E3 2007

I watched all three E3 press conferences (Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony), and here's my brief synopsis and analysis for each one (keep in mind, I'm a PC Gamer, so I have no bias towards any console manufacturer):

First up was Microsoft. They spent a majority of the time boasting sales numbers, like anyone at the conference really cares about that . The only thing I liked about MS's conference was the announcement of Gears of War coming to PC's. Otherwise, MS talked about only two Xbox 360 exclusives? Halo 3 and Mass Effect. Oh, and of course there was the announcement of the special edition Halo Xbox 360. But 98% of big Halo fans already own a 360.

Nintendo introduced the fugly zapper (decent deal at $20, but I'd rather just use the Wii Remote) and the two-year-old's chewtoy steering wheel (I don't think they could have made it any smaller if they tried). They also babbled on and on in the beginning with the most useless statistics. They were comparing stats against THEMSELVES! what the heck?! I loved how they were like, the DS doubled in 2007...oh, and this other percentage represents GameBoy Advance and not PSP. Oh, thanks brilliant Nintendo people, so you just showed you taking a bite out of your own sales . Only good thing about the Nintendo conference was Super Smash Bros. (for me), and I'm sure Mario Kart and Galaxies intrigued others.

Sony on the other hand, when everyone was hammering about the lack of PS3 exclusives and 360 fanboys betting that MGS4 would be announced for 360 (after Konami said there would be a big unexpected announcement (wound up being Silent Hill V, for those wondering)), came out of the blue with a ton of new PS3 exclusives; MGS4 & Killzone 2 (of course), and then InFamous, Heavenly Sword, FolkLore. I'm probably missing a couple, but all those games looked pretty sweet (and as a PC Gamer, I'm hoping the latter three make their way to the PC). Sony needed a big showing, and they certainly delivered.

Of course, I'll still stick to the PC exclusively....though the PSP's new games/features look intriguing, so maybe I'll finally get one of those new ones when they come out (The new ones, for those that didn't watch, are 33% lighter, 17% slimmer, have improved battery life, and have a TV-out connection so you can watch UMD movies or play games on a large screen; the clarity looked good in the conference, but not sure how it'll look IRL).

E3 2007 Round 1 Winner = Sony (hands down)

2007 Salisbury Men Bowling Champion!

Last night was the Championship round in my bowling league. It's a mens league...4-man teams. Every Thursday we bowl 3 games against another team, battling it out for 30 points (each game is worth 4 points, then there's 1pt for each head-to-head matchup (player-vs-player), then there is 2 points for winning 2 of 3 games, 2 points for high series, and 2 points for total pins). Playoffs are elimination rounds, so the first team to get 15.5 points wins the night. In each of the first two rounds, we knocked out our competition after just two games...and we did the same last night! We dominated! This is my third year in the league, and my first Championship. It means an extra $50 per person (over 2nd place), plus a big trophy . I'll also get money and a trophy for having the high game this season with a 288!

Next Thursday is our annual Dinner where we'll get our earnings and trophies.

YAY!

Starcraft 2!!!

Starcraft 2 was officially announced at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational 2007 at approximately 2AM Eastern Time!

Here's the GS article announcing it!

And here's the game page

With all the new units added so far, relatively playable, they must have been working on it for years.  There have been rumors for years, but never any details on the new units.  I have no idea how they were able to keep this hush-hush.  Unbelievable.

Now there's just one important question remaining....how long are we going to have to wait to get our fingers on this
