Work has been a pain in the past few days.
I've been fixing a ton of computers for the past few days. It means I get more monies, but it has been a pain. Today, I get this computer that has.. I don't even know what it is. It looks like cooking grease, seaweed, grass, and various other species of plant life. It is sooo nasty. First of all, I don't know how it got there in the first place, but I also don't know how I am supposed to fix this. The grease and the plants are all over the electric components and since the grease is really really sticky and gooey, I doubt it can be removed without damaging the PCB board. Ew.
It's the nastiest computer I've ever had to fix. And that's saying something because I've seen a lot of computers with dead cockroaches/insects in them.
And then I got this other lady who got really mad at me because her computer didn't have windows xp on it? I don't know what happened there. Apparently, her computer's internet just stopped working one day. I guess if you delete the windows installation or switch out the hard drive for a new one, you can't expect your internets to work. Since we have so many extra winXP keys, I was hoping she would buy one from us but she decided to go the cheaper route and get puppy Linux. Ah well.
That would have been even more money for me.
I've noticed that the number of pissed off customers has increased since the beginning of this month. They come in here and get mad at us for something we didn't do, or they get mad when things can't go their way. There's something about September that drains people's reasoning and patience.- Posted Sep 19, 2008 2:41 pm PT

Maggot infestation and eating crickets..
Yesterday, my parents found a couple of stray maggots near my cat's litterbox and under a cabinet. They obviously tried blaming the maggots on me and the cat, so instead of hearing them blab about it, I went to my room and finished watching Aliens. Today, as I was getting a box of cereal for breakfast, I saw a maggot on top of the box. That's when my investigation started getting serious; DON'T EFF WITH MY CEREAL..
Next to that box there was another large box of cereal (the wholesale ones from costo) that had three small bags of cereal. All of them were very old, and all of them were infested with maggots. I counted about a dozen but there were probably as many as 20 or 30. The side of the box had maggot cocoons that were probably going to turn into flies soon. I don't know about their life cycle so I can't say for sure. Anyway, as I explored more of the food closet, I found that us humans had some very awesome allies: spiders! Plenty of them, too. A bunch of spiders patrol the wall and the corners; about 5 maggots were trapped by those spiders. There are about 8 total spiders living in the food closet, and they seem to be helping to keep the maggots within the food closet although a bunch of them have gotten out. On the door frame, there is one spider who caught two maggots. Just outside the food closet there is one spider who caught itself two maggots and two flies. In the kitchen, there are a bunch of spiders under the heater and another spider near the wall and under the table. That one caught itself a very large maggot, and is feasting on it as we speak. That maggot should keep it on a full stomach for a long time because the maggot is about 5 times larger than the spider. On the other side of the food closet's wall, the staircase is right there and you would not believe the number of spiders I found there. They must be new because my aunt usually cleans the stairs once every week or two. There's a really HUGE spider there. That thing freaked me out. None of them look poisonous although I still haven't identified any of them yet. It looks like there are about 5 different species in total.
This is the sixth time our house has been infested by another creature. We've had an ant infestation that wasn't so bad. I honestly did not mind that at all and they are just cleaning out the garbage that we leave behind but my parents decided that ants are not good companions so they eradicated them. We've also had a bee hive inside of our house. That one was scary because the bees could access the entire house, even the bedrooms. We've had cockroaches and mice; the most disgusting infestation we've had thus far. We've also gotten a large fly infestation. There were thousands of flies in the basement at one point.
I wouldn't say the spider population is bad, though. I like it. It will help keep the number of mosquitoes, flies, and moths down to a minimum. Honestly, it has been a while since I've seen a live moth and we usually have about 5 flying around the house at any given time. It seems like the spiders are doing a much better job of cleaning the house than any of us humans. Yay spiders!
This brings me to my next topic: eating crickets and scorpions. I recently discovered a company called hotlix that sells real, flavored, insects. I ordered three boxes of crickets and a sucker with a scorpion inside. They should get here some time next week and I'll write a review of them on here. CandyAddicts also reviewed hotlix but the editor was a coward who didn't really try out most of the insect candy, and his bias might have affected his perception of the taste. I'm pretty open about this, so I'll be as honest as I can be. My cousins are going to help me out with this.
I found out about this in a recent issue of Discover Magazine were one of the interviewees was talking about insects becoming a major source of food in the future after the livestock and fish stocks collapse. They supposedly have a ton of protein and very little fat and calories so I honestly would not mind switching to an insect diet. After all, that's what our ancestors ate, right?
Here's a link to Sunrise Land Shrimp if you want to find out more about crickets and how they might become a major food source in the future.

Goodbye, OT!
Yeahhhhh I'm done with that. I just came off yet another suspension for something ridiculous.. I'm not blaming the mods, I'm blaming the kids at OT who report things like that. Don't get me wrong, most of the people there are great. They're fun, smart, and pleasant to be around but the few kids who report minor infractions ruin everything. So I'm just going to stick to blogs and maybe I'll go back to the union thing but that's all. OT was fun while it lasted. Good luck to everyone and have fun.
As for the 100 books in 1 year thing.. I failed. I've only got 90 and there are like 5 days left so.. I'm just going to finish Night by Elie Wiesel and then I'll take a short break from reading.
Happy fourth of july! Enjoy your cookouts and the fireworks. Be safe.- Posted Jul 4, 2008 7:46 am PT
