  Continuous Disappointment

  I am afraid I became too old to keep up with games nowadays. I've been playing a lot and without any real stop since around 1992. I've seen a lot of games - not as many as I wanted to, but I played a few. I played great games (they were considered great back in days although it might seem crappy now), and I've played bad games too.

  It is now a trend to spit on new games I believe. If you keep complaining of new games, you are the good know-it-all cool guy - this is a common snob attitude of the 'veteran gamers'. And you know, a lot of times I feel they are right. I tend to believe that the golden age of PC gaming is over now, and everything starts to be console-ish... Games and dumber; more simple; game-pad optimized.

  Thank God there is always an exception... but the above is the way we are going. I am not saying that is wrong - I am saying that the future is not PC gaming, and I am not happy about that; however this is just an opinion (one of many).

  Another terrible thing however that I see is that I go through some user reviews for games that I also review (sometimes I do stuff like that). Lets say I gave a 5 ot 6 or 7... and I see loads of people who give 9-9.5-10 and I read things like "best game ever made", "the best RPG ever made", etc.

  I just feel sorry for these lads, that they never got to play a real 10.0 game, so they have nothing to compare with... It DOES bothear me a great deal, but it should not - they just simply don't know any better. Things that were exceptional games are now 'history' (Doom; Baldurs Gate; Starcraft; GoldenAxe; Bodyblows... and a lot more )
