The GameSpot crew are headed down to PAX so we grabbed some of the data staff and competed for the tallest Marshmallow tower! We used coffee stir sticks and marshmallows.

Not just triangles - tetrahedra. If you want to get fancy and plan ahead, you can also go sort of Sierpinski on it...

I figure most marshmallows actually get eaten, but I wonder what percentage fall victim to non-consumption...

This is one of those exercises you see at work away days. Through experience I can confirm that triangles are the best (this is true in World of Goo also)
I don't think I'd manage to do that, since every second Marshmallow would just land in my tummy and my teammates would go nuts.
Justin is a smart man, triangles are one of natures strongest shapes ;) I probably would've just ate them!

1 Like Haha this reminds me of the time I did a Sociology project just like this back in 12th grade but instead we used noodle sticks :P, had a fun time but my tower ended up collapsing when the project ended up being a competition! Good times. :)
1 Like lol i had to do this with toothpicks in my microecon class in high school i think our group came in second place the one with the triangles ended up pulling it off
4 Like I would have lit them on fire while still constructing it, forcing me to be both quick and precise while designing my tower.
