  September 4, 2003.

  September 4 is the hardest day for me every year, because of what happened 5 years ago. And yet... despite the forgiveness from a dear friend that I don't deserve after I went off on her, there may be something good to come from this. After 5 years... I might finally get some closure. We'll see what happens... but I have hope.

  In other news, I was watching my niece for a while last weekend, and she was playing with some of our old toys. When she asked me where my Mega Man toy came from (it was actually from the TV show), I figured I'd show her. She's 5 years old and loves playing Mario Kart whenever we watch her (well, I'm not always there for that anymore, being in grad school), but she ended up being rather interested in Mega Man... more than I expected.

  

  Yes, that pic is definetely recent. Notice the Wii on the floor? I didn't bring my 360 or my brother's PS3 that weekend, so it looks a little sparse. Her mom joked later that I was "corrupting her child by trying to get her into Nintendo."

  By the way, view the whole picture if it's showing up as too big. It's not the original box NES controller, but the top loader controller.

  Crud... I'm at Level 63...

  I don't normally give a flying you-know-what about levels, but I've kinda dreaded this day. If all of you think level 20 is bad, it's nothing compared to 63. Moreover, I'm stuck with a GTA San Andreas name for what will likely be a year. Sorry to sound all emo, but... argh. Bad enough that we're getting stuck with ugly themes for the new site (no Ice... read my previous blog), but now I'm stuck with a level name that I hate. Whee...

  Sing a dirge, lament with me, wonder why GS makes it so hard to get anything about 63, but please, for the love of Pete, don't congradulate me. Seems that this is my 100th blog too. Fitting I suppose. Only one thing is worthwhile to go here in tribute of this day.

  Rant ahead.

  Ok, I'll be one of the first to admit that I like the new site and just about every thing in it, (except for the blogs... they should make them collapsable so there isn't so much empty space on the sides), but one thing GS has always messed up on since the Lithium days is not having Ice available as a skin when they start out. I don't understand why it's unimportant to have good-looking skins on a website, but Ice has always been when I can finally embrace the "new" site and consider it Gamespot once again. However, today something very discouraging came to light.

  My thread in the Wide Discussion board asking about when Ice is comingwas met with a very disheartening response.

  I'm sorry, but this isn't a satisfying response. I look forward to the improvements and announcements, I always do. However, the one that I and many others look forward to is Ice. No Ice? I've always thought that if you don't like the asthetics of the site you are on that you won't enjoy the other improvements. How does gamespot plan to counter the negative impact from losing ice? I don't see how they can, nor do I think they should. Just bring Ice along with whatever else is planned. So, as odd as this seems coming from a GS mod (some of you may consider me "The Man" in a bad way... well, don't. I'm not), I implore all of you to link this thread in your sig, post in it, and do whatever you can to let the higher-ups at GS (beyond the people that post in the boards) that we want this. Make it impossible to ignore. Don't make threads advertising it, just put the link in your sig. Don't make a petition, just post in that thread saying you want Ice.

  Ice tends to come once people realize that GSers love it, need it, and want to have it. Let's get this bumped up on their priority list.
