As I was compiling my list of top 10 favorite XBox 360 games, whose video will not see the light of day simply because I cannot make up my mind, I gazed in wild wonder at some games and thought "Why in the hell did I buy that?!" Hence, since I'm rapidly running out of space to store my games and that I'll never, ever touch those games again, I've decided to either trade them in or sell them online.
This way of thinking is new for me, since I have never traded in or sold any of my games before. For the longest time, I was formerly against it, thinking that, no matter how crappy a game was, it still deserved it's spot in my collection. Money was never an object either when it came to gaming, since I've always had money to pay for my "addiction". This isn't me bragging here, it's just a simple fact. However, after sitting back and looking at my collection, I've come to the conclusion that, even if a pile of garbage is on display in a museum, it's still a pile of garbage. Why should I hold onto games that I'll never play again anyway? They'll just collect dust and use space that other, better games could use.
Here is a shortlist of games I will either be selling or trading in. All of them are XBox 360 titles, but I may do the same for my XBox & PlayStation 2 games.
GRID: No matter how much I play this game, I just cannot get into it. Forza 2 was a much better game. Should get a good price for this one.
King Kong: This game wasn't half bad, but there's no real incentive to play it again. I got the whole 1000 points for it too.
Lost Planet: 3 words: Too Much Snow! Could never get into this game even after trying it twice.
Fantastic Four Rise Of The Silver Surfer: Awful, awful game. Good thing I got it for free.
The Outfit: Not a bad game, but not a good game either.
Amped 3: Thought I'd like this snowboard game. I was wrong.
So, there you go. Five games, off the top of my head, that I want to get rid of. There might be others tucked in my collection somewhere. I'll have to do a clean sweep and figure out which ones need to be dropped. If you guys have any suggestions for me, drop them in the comment section.
Thanks for reading.
You've seen this type of blog before. You love it, you embrace it, you enjoy it. There's now an official title for these types of blogs, as listed in the... title. Will this stick forever? Probably not, but succumb to it while it lasts, will you?
- GameSpot's Top Spin 3 review was posted yesterday. I found it a bit weird. Let me explain. Luke Anderson, from GameSpot UK, says that the game is somewhat complicated and that it might not appeal to casual gamers. Strike one. Then, he confirms that Rafael Nadal is missing from the XBox 360 version of the game and that Ana Ivanovic (who?) is missing everywhere. Strike two. If you're waiting for strike three, there isn't any. The rest is all praise. My question is, why did it get an 8.0 then? Shouldn't it have gotten an 8.5 or even a 9.0? Nonetheless, I'm thoroughly enjoying the game now that I've gotten the hang of it. It is hard, even on the Easy difficulty setting, but it's still an awesome game. If you like tennis, check it out.
- Seems like there's been some possible leaks from Rock Band 2's song-list, as reported in today's Rumor Control. If you gaze at the tracks there, you'll notice Chop Suey by System of a Down and Give It Away by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, amongst others. Of course, All The Small Things by Blink-182 and More Than A Feeling by Boston are already available for download, which makes that list a little iffy, but EA did say that DLC for Rock Band 1 would be transferable to Rock Band 2, so it's still possible. Nonetheless, any System of a Down song is alright with me.
- This Is Vegas has been pushed back to Q1 2009 by publisher Midway. The reason? "Midway is committed to developing and publishing the best quality products. It is important for us to make sure the game was given the development time needed in order to make This is Vegas a triple-A videogame and a must-have for all PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC owners." says a representative for the company. Uh huh, and I have a date with Angelina Jolie tonight.
- Last but not least, this son of a motherless goat has been bugging me about something. What would you guys say to a Rainbow Six Vegas 2 get-together this Sunday afternoon? The update is out, which includes new maps, ACES and achievements, so it would be a perfect time to take it out of the game closet and put it back into the ol' 360, eh? Let me know what you think.
Sayonara!
After a 2-week hiatus, Mi Casa, Su Casa is back in business. This week's episode was so long and so full of greatness, we had to separate it in two parts. Both parts feature our pre-E3 impressions and the wonderful, sultry voice of Talor a.k.a. TheWesker. You'll bare witness on how passionate he is about the Resident Evil series and get to hear his insights on this year's event.
Tomorrow is Canada Day here in... Canada, which means that I have the day off and my weird schedule continues. I worked today, I'm off tomorrow, and I go back to work for the rest of the week. I'll probably be seeing Wall-E tomorrow as well. It currently has a 96% rating on RottenTomatoes.com, which is outstanding. Cannot wait to see it.
Finally, since I never learn my lesson, I bought a new game today. That game is Top Spin 3, a tennis game. I really enjoyed Virtua Tennis 3 when it came out last year, and since they are not making a sequel to that one, I decided to go with Top Spin 3. This brings my total to 4 games I am currently playing, including Mass Effect, which I haven't touched in a over a week, FIFA 08, where I am second in my division (American, T-Mobile Cup) and enjoying the hell out of it, and finally Bad Company, where I am on act 4 and progressing slowly but surely. I'll try to give impressions on most of those games this week.
Alright, that's it. I'm off to play some Top Spin 3.
The table was set. Germany versus Spain in the 2008 Euro Cup final. Spanish fans were hoping their team wouldn't let them down again, having lost big matches at this event in the past. German fans were confident in their team, even though they barely got by their opposition in the quarter and semi finals.
From the opening kickoff to the final whistle, the game was played with intensity and emotion by both teams, which gave the spectators around the world a wonderful match. As Spain celebrated their hard-fought victory with their fans who, quite possibly, let out a sigh of relief that their team hadn't choked, the German players consoled each other on the sidelines as their fans shed tears of sorrow. A hearty congratulations to Spain and their fans and, to the Germans and their fans, of whom I am a part of, our team offered a great performance that none of us should be ashamed of. A terrific match.
On the other side of the sports spectrum tonight, the WWE presents it's pay-per-view entitled Night of Champions. This show has quickly become one of my favorite ones from Vince McMahon's mega corporation for the simple fact that every championship in the company is on the line in every match on the card. After last Monday's draft, many things changed in the WWE. Triple H, the WWE Champion, was sent to SmackDown where Edge, the World Heavyweight Champion, is king and Kane, the ECW Champion, was drafted to Raw. It's almost assured that one championship will change hands and make it's way to Raw in the hands of either John Cena or Batista. Nonetheless, it should be a great event.
In other news, my nephew asked me today if I would buy him the Wall-E video game. Although I had no intention of buying the game for myself, I'll get it for him, since he's been a very good boy lately and deserves it. I'll also be seeing the movie this Tuesday with him. Actually can't wait for that one.
Watched Rambo last night, after downloading it from XBox Live Marketplace and, although it's action-packed, it has no story whatsoever and is too over-the-top for me to recommend it. Also, the gratuitous violence within the movie threw me off. I know Rambo movies are known for their violence, but this is just too much. People complain about the amount of violence in video games, but nobody ever complains about movies like this. Weird how that works, isn't it?
Last but certainly not least, Mi Casa, Su Casa, our pre-E3 special, will come your way tomorrow. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for that one.
Have a great week!
Rumors were running rampant about Blizzard's major announcement to come out of this year's Blizzard Invitational, held in Paris France over the weekend. Although gamers knew the announcement wouldn't disappoint, there still was some doubt as to which series would get a new installment added to it's legacy.
Earlier this morning, the announcement was made and, once again, the Internet exploded in a joyful cry at the news.
Diablo III was officially announced by the guys at Blizzard today, giving truth to the many rumors of it's return. About damn time, many will say, and I couldn't agree more. Some 7 years after the release of Diablo II's expansion pack, Lord of Destruction (2001) and twelve years after the release of the original (1996), we are treated to this long-awaited sequel. Consider me thrilled.
For those of you out there who haven't played a Diablo game in the past, I'll start by saying shame on you for neglecting such a wonderful franchise. After that light scolding, I'd suggest you try out both games, which should run flawlessly on any PC now and should be available in any good bargain bin. I still remember my sleepless nights playing both games with friends on Battle.net, as I went through mouse after mouse after their left buttons stopped functioning entirely from the repetitive clicking and the sheer satisfaction when we finally destroyed Diablo, sending his flaming ass back where it belonged.
After watching the 19-odd minute demo, I can't help but be extremely hyped up for this game. There will be 7 cla$$es to choose from, and all of them have male and female genders. The Barbarian & The Witch Doctor were presented in the demo, and I don't think I'm the only one here who is eager to try out the latter. A Wall of Zombies? Count me in. The way you'll play the game looks pretty much unchanged, aside from the new powers and abilities of course. Co-Op play will still be alive and kicking over Battle.net, which is always a huge plus.
As always, Blizzard is being pretty mum about the release date, stating that it'll come out "when it's done", but they did say that they were pretty far along in the development cycle. I'm sure we'll see more of this game at e3 in a couple of weeks. Let's just say that my eyes and ears will be ready for anything Diablo III. What a great time to be a gamer, eh?
