Singing the blues: Is it just me or do I hate my family...no it's not just me, I do. My brothers are such jerks. They're sitting here watching tv saying stuff like (and I'm not using exact quotes because I'm not writing the specific disgusting upsetting words they are using to talk about fellow human beings) 'Look how fat that guy, I wonder how much that lady weighs' . And that's putting it delicately! They were using bad words...let's just the kind of words that make me want to get up and crack them across the head or smash my guitar in their faces. And some other homophobic, nothing to terrible just terrible enough, stuff which I will not write. And my mother just sits there, let's them talk that way about people. Call people those names. And then she laughs. What is this? I mean how is it okay to talk about people like that?
Plus and I hate this, (though it more applies to my mom then my brothers) they are the only people in the world who can make me feel bad about the things I love about myself. I mean not to a point where I'm changing who I am, changing the way I do things or even want to in the least but what I normally love about myself they just find this way to get under my skin and say just the right thing that makes me feel utterly insulted. It's that whole I don't want to change anything but they found just the right way to make me feel awful. Making any sense here? Eh, who cares. My computer was going slow and bugging me and keeps FRICKING FREEZING EVERY FEW FRICKING SECONDS
plus it's a red letter day
so I'm sure I'm just having a witch attack. Anyway rant over, onto fun!

I have had the same top five for two years, though they have changed positions now and again I imagine all five will be in my top five forever, I talk about them all constantly so if were paying attention then these should all actually be pretty obvious by now. Let's start with #5 and #4!
First my patented disclaimer, this my list not yours so I'm putting what I want where I want *dirty* as I like to say. Feel free to agree or disagree just remember it's all in good fun!

5. Buffy 1997-2003 WB/UPN
![]()
"I don't understand. I don't know how to live in this world if these are the choices. If everything just gets stripped away. I don't see the point."
Buffy was the first show that I ever watched obsessively, it was the first show I bought on dvd, heck it made me finally buy a dvd player. It was the first show I ever loved and even though it's been knocked out of it's number one position over the years it will never leave my top five. It introduced me to the master, Joss Whedon. No one writes better, more developed characters and takes them through fascinating journeys and down unexpected roads. He was amazingly talented, unique and mind blowing. Just watch 'Once More With Feeling'. This was the first show that ever made me cry and started my love affair with the now extinct WB network. Words tend to fail me when it comes to Buffy because there is nothing I can think to say to describe what makes it so special, it just is. The episodes, the stories, the cast and everything about it just works. Over it's seven years, seven seasons the show took us to some many different places. Thinking back on it makes it feel like it's been an eternity since it went off the air and yet at the same time it's so fresh in my memory that it feels like it was only just yesterday. Since it's end I've discovered new shows that mean a lot to me but Buffy was always the first.
Favorite Season: Four, for some reason fans are particularly harsh on season four but it has always been my favorite. It was a season of change. Not only were Cordy and Angel gone but we said goodbye to Angel/Buffy and Sunnydale high school. It was a season of change. The scoobies moved on to college, work and in Giles case nothing. Willow lost Oz and discovered Tara, Anya and Spike were brought back onto the series in very different roles and capacities then before and Buffy found a new love in Riley. They had to let go of so much but I think it proved that the show didn't need to rest on what was comfortable or expected, it could move on to different things, remain fresh and wonderful even when cutting lose from Buffy/Angel who were a big part of the first three seasons or from high school where the first three seasons centered. It proved the show could move on and stay good and that's why I love it.
Favorite Episodes: S1 Prophecy Girl, S3 The Wish, S5 Fool For Love, S6 Once More With Feeling, S7 Chosen

Favorite Characters: Tara, Spike, Buffy, Riley and Xander
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Spike & Buffy, when the idea of Spike/Buffy was first introduced it was just so funny to think about. Spike was in love with Buffy? Spike! But over the course of season five I began to like the idea, though I never thought anything would come of it. Then it did and it was intense, I personally don't care for a lot of what happens between them in season six. It's a little much for me and on the empty side of things. Their relationship in season six means very little, it has more to do with the place Buffy is in coming back from the grave then the actual relationship between Buffy and Spike. But when things return in season seven they are very different. Things begin to change, there's a new spark between them that's at times almost tender and what's odd is that they aren't actually together at all in season seven. It was a nice shift, a nice parallel to the previous season. A way to show us that there was, underneath everything, something there that was so powerful to watch even when it was at it's most subtle. I'll forever feel jipped that we didn't get to see more of them as a couple but grateful that we got what we did considering Spike was originally meant to be a temporary character.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Xander & Buffy, it's a close tie between Willow/Buffy and Xander/Buffy but I tend to land of Xander/Buffy because their connection as best friends has an undefinable quality to it. Willow and Buffy are great as friends, they are so close and share everything but something in Buffy and Xander's relationship is different. They overcame his crush on her early in the series and be season seven, and even before, were in such a wonderful place. Listening to all he says about her in season seven just makes me feel warm inside, weird I know but hey it's the truth. They have a very brother/sister, a very undefinable connection that I love.
4. Firefly 2002-2003 FOX
"Come a day there won't be room for naughty men like us to slip about at all. This job goes south, there well may not be another. So here is us, on the raggedy edge. Don't push me, and I won't push you."
I will never forgive FOX for what they did to Firefly, it was so different not only from anything that was on tv at the time or has been since then but it was also so different from a lot of the things Joss had done before it. A scifi western? That sounds all wrong and yet it is so the perfect in some strange way, the cast of actors/actresses who play these wonderful characters commit in a way that almost makes you forget we only knew them for a handful of episodes and not forever. I mean Nathan alone would make me love this show even if I hated everyone else. The characters themselves are so diverse and eclectic, there is literally someone for everyone but at the same time I know that I love each and every one of them in totally different ways. It seems like one of those rare instances where everything just fell into place in a such a perfect once in a lifetime way it makes me glad we got to see what we did because as painful as it is to have only had one (short) season it is better a have a little then none at all. Besides which how many cancelled tv shows get made into a big screen film? I like to think of Serenity as a reward to all the loyal, devoted fans.
Favorite Season: Oh gee let me think...
One, not that I have any other option here or ever will.
I still get so sad thinking about. For a first season though it actually has a pretty decent flow, most first seasons can be choppy and even a little inconsistent but as I said about the show itself it was one of those rare once in a life time things. I can only imagine what wonders we would have been in store for had the show continued.
Favorite Episodes: S1 Bushwhacked, S1 Shindig, S1 Out Of Gas, S1 War Stories, S1 Objects In Space

Favorite Characters: Mal, Inara, Wash, Simon and River
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Mal & Inara, okay they weren't technically a couple at all but there was something between them even if nothing ever came of it. They both pretty much came right out and said so once or twice, almost said something a couple times and well and then nothing. Brick wall, stop, proceed to evasively change the subject and walk away. I just wanted to smack them both, tell Mal to get his head out of his butt and Inara to get up an do something. To bad we didn't have enough time to see if something could have, would have ever happened between them. Yet another reason to tack onto the very long list of why it was so terrible that Firefly was cancelled so soon. They had amazing chemistry together, and they barely even touched over the course of the series, Inara was really the only person who sometimes brought out the quieter side of Mal. And they would have been so good together! Damn FOX.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Simon & River, the brother sister thing was at it's best with these two. Protective, all around good guy do anything for his baby sister Simone was such a sweet heart. Not only did he give up career in medicine but he was so brave in leaving his privileged life to save River, to be that good of a brother. I mean not everyone would do that, even for a sibling. Just look at his parents. River was a sweetie too. You just felt so bad for her, seeing her so out of at. Seeing what they did to her, she was just a little girl and they ruined her. Thank goodness she had a brother who loved her so much and took care of her so well, she even managed to return the favor in 'Serenity'.
-----------------------------------------------------
Two Joss shows! And they won't be the last. As many of you know I love him to death so that shouldn't be a surprise. Come on now, the top three should be easy calls! Shush though, don't spill the beans!
Sorry about the mini-rant at the start of the blog, bad mood stuff. That and my mom and brothers just really bother me...a lot. A lot, a lot.
Anyway night, night!

7. Chuck 2007-Current NBC

"Don't you think now would be a great time for me to be waiting in the car?"
It's unrealistic, that was the first thing that sprung to my mind as I began watching Chuck. I mean doesn't spy work usually mean some pretty serious injuries, at the very least. But putting that aside this show really works, really clicks especially with me. Thanks to The Office I've been getting more info comedies (something I normally have trouble really sinking my teeth into and getting hooked on) but I am so hooked on Chuck and it happened fast. I mean as I said there is an unrealistic quality to the show but in a weird way it works, Zachary Levi is one of the best cast actors I have ever seen as nerdy but lovable Chuck Bartowski. He's committed, charming and brings the subtleties to the character that really make you want to see more and more of him with each passing episode. I adore the very mysterious always beautiful Agent Sarah Walker and am dying to find out more about her identity, her past and her feelings for Chuck. Yvonne (Sarah) and Zach have a rare chemistry, I mean it's so intense and yet they've barely even had any...let's say physical contact over the course of the shows first thirteen episodes. It can only get better from her, both their relationship and the show and I for one can not wait. Of all my returning shows I think Chuck is the one I am most excited for. As you can see it quickly became a very beloved show for me so I suggest, if you haven't seen then watch it ASAP. Most people who do don't regret it.
Favorite Season: One, duh.
It's not really like there's another option here but I have a feeling that by the end of season two I'll have a new favorite. For a first season it was surprisingly pulled together, sometimes first seasons have uneven feels or rocky episodes but everything seemed to work very well which explains why the show it so beloved. It's hard to explain exactly what it is about Chuck but it's just one of the shows that bring out the obsessive tv lover that I truly love to be, but sometimes can't due to the lack of truly unique and wonderful shows.
Favorite Episodes: Pilot, Chuck vs The Helicopter, Chuck vs the Nemesis, Chuck vs the Crown Vic, Chuck vs the Marlin

Favorite Characters: Chuck, Sarah, Morgan, Ellie and Casey
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Chuck & Sarah, the tension alone is so hot I can't imagine what it may/will be like come the day these two get together. As some of your probably know I can get really obsessive with tv in general but also with tv couples and let me tell you Chuck/Sarah is my newest obsession. The have that sexual tension, the sweet moments, they really care about each other and you can sense that they have feelings for one another no matter how many times Sarah wants to deny it. There's obstacles in their way of course, I get the feeling they aren't going to make it easy for these two to get together but it's one of those situations where from the beginning it was made clear that it's a possibility and even if we're in for a wait (I don't think it will be as long as some fans think) it's pretty obvious that it's going to happen.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Chuck & Ellie, Chuck is so the brother type. He's got the sweet caring good guy personality, a real stand up guy that's under appreciated by the ladies so I think it was perfect that they gave him a sister. A buddy who he is close to and can share things with, a girl who does appreciate him and see him for how wonderful he is, a friend he grew up with who just so happens to be his sister. I love their relationship, she's a nice match for Chuck and a great big sister. I love their talks. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them next season and I'm wondering if they'll ever have Ellie find out the truth about Chuck and Sarah.
6. The Office 2005-Current NBC

"We do safety training every year. Or after an accident. We've never made it a full year. This particular time, I was reaching for a supply box on the top shelf, when one office worker, who shall remain nameless, kicked the ladder out from under me and yelled."
Over the years I've liked several NBC comedies (Friends, Will & Grace, Frasier) but after Will & Grace went off the air I kind of abandoned comedies, Heroes drew me back to NBC but then after seeing lots of promos for The Office and hearing a lot about Jim and Pam I watched the season four finale just to see what all the the fuss was about. I expected to watch a few minutes, get a few laughs and then change the channel. But I watch the whole hour, then I did the same week after week and before I even really realized it I began loving the show especially Jim and Pam, I love watching Jenna and John on screen together. They always seem like they are having so much fun, they play Jim and Pam so cute. They weren't the only reason I stuck around though, I love the humor. It's odd because I had watched a couple episodes of the show before, maybe one or two in the second season but didn't really get the humor of it all. I don't know what I was thinking, maybe I just needed to be a bit older to be able to really appreciate but now that I do I know I'll be watching the shows for a long time. It quickly became a favorite for me and as you can see I rank it very high. Since I've become a fan I've been watching the reruns in syndication and am kicking myself for not watching the show sooner. It's another show that I would say if you haven't watched it yet you must watch it ASAP, you won't regret it.
Favorite Season: Four, it's the first full season I watched and it's first season Jim and Pam were together (as you may have noticed by my icon I really adore them) so obviously it's my favorite season. No contest.
Favorite Episodes: S2 Casino Night, S3 Beach Games, S3 The Job, S4 Branch Wars, S4 Job Fair

Favorite Characters: Pam, Jim, Andy, Dwight and Michael
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Pam & Jim, how cute are they? Come on! They are to cute for words. I very clearly love them as you all probably noticed by this point. John and Jenna play so well off one another, make their roles seem very natural and as a result that makes their on screen relationship seem very natural but also really real. I sometimes forget that they aren't actually a real life couple and just two actors playing parts. I can't wait to see what the show has in store for these two as a couple and no matter what the nay sayers want to think I know that it'll all work out for them, they wouldn't have made as us wait three seasons just to then break up them up. This isn't Gilmore Girls for goodness sake. John and Jenna are both so talented, I can't say that enough, Jim and Pam are wonderful and the characters would not be the same (both apart and together) if they were played by anybody else.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Jim & Dwight, I absolutely can not control my laughter when Jim pulls pranks on Jim. They are freaking hysterical, especially through season two and three. Dwight can be a little bit of a tool too, to Jim and in general so it's always nice to see him get burned and it's not as though Jim has ever done anything that terrible to him so it's all in good fun. Plus Jim has on occasion been helpful to Dwight, in season four when he broke up with Angela, so it all evens out.
-----------------------------------------------------
Next time the start of my top five, which if you know me and were paying attention should actually be obvious by this point. Nobody say em!
Stay tuned for #5 and #4!
Ashley
I'm back, not that I ever really left....at all actually but anyway.
Tina's party, was fun. Her daughter is cute! She's about one and a half so she's right at that age where she's just learning a couple words and the rest is total gibberish. That oh so cute baby talk. Such a sweetie too, very friendly. We had some fun but nothing to severe, I didn't even wake up with a head ache so really just a little mild fun. The midnight bowling was...boring but I knew that would happen. I hate bowling and all sports of all kinds so I really thought it was a waste of money (even though it was only $10) and it was really, really loud in there. Like really loud, to the point where I could feel my teeth chattering but anyway it was nice to see everyone and finally meet Tina's daughter.

Hellboy 2, was surprising to say the least. There's one development at the beginning of the movie that I was not expecting. The movie itself was good, there was no way it was going to be as good as the original in my eyes and it's hard to compare, but for a sequel I thought it was good. The villains weren't quite as memorable or as interesting as last time but they worked in their own ways. Hellboy, Liz and Abe were all great as usual and the new guy on the block Johann was a great addition. Overall it was not what I was expecting though I enjoyed it, it surprised me and went in some directions that I didn't expect but overall I'd say B-, just because it was a tiny bit underwhelming in parts but I enjoyed myself none the less. It's one of those movies that after I watch it again, comparing it less to the original it's score will probably go to a B+. Anyway, I'm not good with reviewing movies at all so sorry this wasn't more detailed (I didn't want to spoil anyone either so I left lots of specifics out) but that's just me, I know when I like something and when I don't. Just my way.
*EDIT* In fact read this, it explains exactly how I felt about the movie better then I ever could.

9. Heroes 2006-Current NBC

"When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost. It makes demands in exchange for singularity."
I remember hearing about this show for months. Heroes will be great yadda yadda yadda. And to be honest I thought it nothing more then one of those oh so popular shows that I usually hate but when I heard it was about people with special abilities I was a little confused. Usually Fantasy shows like this aren't particularly main stream or popular, so I decided to watch. The first two episodes impressed me a lot and Heroes mania seemed to sweep through the world. So many people seem to like it because it's popular, the fact that it happens to be good seems to come in second place. Well I'm here to say I like it because it's good though the characters and dialogue can be a tad over dramatic at times. But I would watch it even if no one else did. Judging by the ending of last season and all the info currently being released season 3 is poised to be the best season yet.
Favorite Season: One, no surprise there because as most Heroes fans know season 2 was a little subpar though I do think people were being unduly harsh. Irregardless though season 1 was better. Better episodes, all the original characters were at their best and didn't have their screen time stolen by season 2 add ons. And of course it had the introduction of the greatest villain ever, Sylar.
Favorite Episodes: S1 Genesis, S1 Don't Look Back, S1 Homecoming, S1 Unexpected, S1 Five Years Gone

Favorite Characters: Sylar, Peter, Adam Monroe, Maya and Claire
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Claire & West, Heroes has it's couples it's true but there aren't many and the ones that do spring up tend not to last but Claire and West are still my favorite. Especially because fans were so mean to West. And all he ever did was be cute and a little suspicious. But all the characters on the show have done that one time or another so I don't get it? Why all the West hate?
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Sylar and Peter, they are in some ways to sides of the same coin. Not only do they have somewhat similar powers but Peter is the example of using these special abilities for good, making the choice to do good and not harm others with them. And Sylar is the ultimate in using these special abilities for bad, power corrupts. Had things happened differently, had either of them made different choices things could be very different but that's part of why I like their relationship (though they've had few interactions). It's the choices they've made that make them who they are, not their powers.
8. House MD 2004-Current FOX

"Cancer doesn't make you special."
I've never been a fan of medical shows (dramas or other kinds) but after Scrubs and Nip/Tuck I had second thoughts, or I was becoming more open minded. One night I caught House and watched and I was in, big time. Even though it's somewhat procedural when it goes off the beaten path it blows my mind. They have a great cast of characters (though most of you know I take issue with the fact that they don't utilize all their great characters), not just House. But of course House is the main draw. He's witty and sarcastic, honest at all costs but sometimes cruel and just plan mean but he is an addicting characters. He is hopelessly flawed but we all are and I think that's why so many get into this show. We're all mess up, House is just more honest about it.
Favorite Season: Three, it's the first season I watched so it kind of has a special place for me and I think it has some great episodes (though all four seasons have great episodes). Season three just stands out for me because it's the season that has remained most memorable overall, plus it was our last season with Chase and Cameron up front and in the story so I look back on it fondly.
Favorite Episodes: S2 Love Hurts, S2 No Reason, S3 Informed Consent, S4 97 Seconds, S4 Wilson's Heart
Favorite Characters: House, Cameron, Wilson, Chase and Amber
Favorite Couple (Romantic): House & Cameron, from the moment I started watching the show I just felt as though they had some kind of connection. Over the first three seasons it seemed maybe like they felt it too. Cameron liked House and Stacey came along, House wasn't over her so derailed. Then it almost seemed like they might be getting back on the Hameron train and now it's just stalled. Cameron quit and that was that, I feel like we Hameron fans are just stuck waiting around but I for one will keep waiting till the show ends. I just like their connection, they are both very flawed in different respect and have an intensity when they are around each other. I just wish they would see, who knows maybe someday they will. You must believe.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): House & Wilson, Wilson is the only person that House has ever had a long term lasting relationship with. They have their troubles, most of which tend to be House's fault and on some occasions totally House's doing but they are best friends. It's a great dynamic to watch because House is so negative and comparatively Wilson is such an optimistic positive person, even after three divorces (though all that may be changed now after the season four finale). I'm anxious to see where their relationship will go over the course of the series, especially after this last blow.

I blog to much don't I? Oh well I'll be taking a break, at least till the weekend is over because I have some stuff coming up.
Hellboy 2 opens friday so I'll either see it that day or saturday (I'll be sure to let you all know what I think) because friday night is one of my best friends birthday. She's turning 21 and I have yet to meet her kid, even though she's almost one and half so I'm going to go assuming my ride doesn't flake. I do want to go too. If for no other reason then to see three of the best friends I have ever had, we all went to high school together and the four of us haven't been together in almost two years. Plus I want to meet Tina's adorable little girl, I feel bad about not seeing her yet but neither of us drives and she lives very far away from me so she understands. Plus shots!
And I've got some other uninteresting stuff tomorrow so I'm actually going to be a little busy for half the week. Unfortunately I have a head cold too. Not enough to make me feel sick but just enough to be annoying and keep me from sleeping. Of all the weeks to get busy.

12. Rescue Me 2004-Current FX
![]()
"I'm a fireman. We're not in the business of making heroes here. We're in the business of discovering cowards, 'cause that's what you are if you can't take the heat."
After jumping onto the Nip/Tuck band wagon someone said to me 'if you like Nip/Tuck then you'll like Rescue Me'. So I gave it a shot and I loved it instantly, over the years it has dethroned Nip/Tuck as my favorite FX show. It's a great drama with lots of comedy thrown, especially when it comes to the characters. It's very much about flawed heroes. These men are fire fighters, they save lives every day. They risk their lives every day. But they can't seem to save themselves. They make bad choices, they aren't perfect and they make mistakes. It's the ultimate in a nobody is perfect story, even heroes. Dennis Leary does a fantastic job with the show and as the character Tommy Gavin, you can see he really has a connection with the role an puts a lot into his work.
Favorite Season: Two, for me season two was really where Rescue Me found it legs. I remember thinking nothing will top this because it really just felt the show had found it's niche and the story lines (both episodic and arcs) were brilliant.
Favorite Episodes: S2 Brains, S2 B*tch/Stranded, S2 Justice, S3 Zombies, S3 Hell
Favorite Characters: Mikey/Probie, Tommy, Sean, Lou and Janet
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Mikey/Probie & Chris, you guys might not actually remember them. In season three Probie was living with this guy Chris, they were just room mates. Or so we thought and then boom it turns out they weren't just room mates anymore, though they were never officially a couple. I've been miffed that they never brought Chris back, or really ever gave us any closer of Mike's sexuality (one way or the other). But their limited time together was actually cute though admittedly somewhat weird, one second they're hanging watching football the next second they are pounding on each and then the next second well....
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Tommy & Lou, there's a lot of different relationships on the show but for me Tommy and Lou stand out as my favorite. They are pretty much the only two characters that really never get into any kind of fight with one another. Lou is a great guy and good friend, though he has his issues. He and Tommy, despite his many faults, seem to just accept each other as they are. They seem to understand each other.
11. Everwood 2002-2006 WB

"The more things change, the more they stay the same. I'm not sure who the first person was who said that. Probably Shakespeare. Or maybe Sting."
Everwood was in it's second season when I discovered, our cable was out for some reason (I don't remember why) and we only had basic. I was flipping around and out of instinct I turned on The Wb (that was my network for most of my life). I found Everwood and watched it through the rest of it's run. It was a real show. Not all about drama, not all about a bunch of pretty teenagers, not all above love triangles and angst filled relationships. It was real, there was a cast of characters ranging through all different ages. There was a slew of different stories, different angles and different surprises. It was wholesome, which sounds a little dull I know but it was a really good quality in Everwood's case. Unfortunately it was under appreciated by both viewers and it's network. However I am eagerly awaiting the release of the rest of the series on dvd but until I will be watching my still old episodes that I recorded long ago on VHS.
Favorite Season: Three, I'm usually torn between season three and four, I love them both. But I would say that season three is my favorite. Not only does it introduce my favorite character of the series, Hannah, but for me it's kind of Everwood at it's best. Each season of the show has a somewhat different feel and for season 3 has the best feel. That great mix of all the characters, all the drama, all the couple stuff and all the subtle goodness that is Everwood.
Favorite Episodes: S1 Home, S3 He Who Hesitates, S3 Where The Heart Is, S4 A Kiss To Build A Dream On, S4 Getting To Know You

Favorite Characters: Hannah, Bright, Ephram, Reid and Harold
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Bright & Hannah, they were just oh so cute. I remember thinking when Hannah first expressed feelings for Bright back in season three that they would be so wonderful together and she would be so good for lost Bright. And thank goodess he saw it too, eventually. Their relationship turned out to be even cuter and sweeter then I imagined it and even though they crashed and burned when Bright was unfaithful I'll always enjoy the time they did have together.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Andy & Ephram, the father/son troubled relationship was the back bone of the show. Andy and Ephram had a strained, complicated relationship that eventually became something really comfortable and solid. In Season one was it was at it's most troubled, Andy's wife (Ephram's mom) had died and Andy moved them all the way to sleepy picturesque Everwood, Colorado. Ephram was not happy, then again what angsty teenage boy would. They eventually got on solid footing but then Ephram's girlfriend Madison turned up pregnant Andy, thinking he protecting his son, sent Madison away without telling Ephram anything. That shattered their relationship but somehow, someway they mended it and things were better then ever. After everything they had been through they sort of became friends as well as father and son.
10. Rome 2005-2007 HBO

"When confronted by a hungry wolf, it is unwise to goad the beast. But it is equally unwise to imagine the snarling animal a friend and offer your hand."
I bought this show on a lark, I was shopping at and for some reason I was in the dvd even though I was picking up some other things that day and I just bought it. I don't usually do things like that, especially with shows that are really expensive to buy on dvd, but I am so glad I did with Rome. Historical drams usually go right over my head but Rome isn't like most historical drams. It's a historical drama that's bloody, dark and extremely heavy with troubled characters that make you feel conflicted. I think Rome was kind of the start, or at the start of a great trend. Historical dramas that aren't totally romanticized, they're real in an extremely raw way. Unfortunately Rome only lasted two seasons which is such a shame but the two seasons we did get were great.
Favorite Season: Two, both seasons are great and in some ways I like them both equally but in others season two was better. Season two had the better episodes, the more memorable episodes. And even though it had a different feel then the first season I think it was immensely enjoyable and full of emotion, the kind that sometimes make you cry when you watch certain episodes.
Favorite Episodes: S1 Egeria, S1 The Spoils, S1 Kalends of February, S2 Deus Impeditio Esuritori Nullus (No God Can Stop a Hungry Man), S2 De Patre Vostro (About Your Father)

Favorite Characters: Mark Antony, Pullo, Cleopatra, Octavian and Niobe
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Mark Antony & Cleopatra, they were both self centered selfish totally self serving individuals who I think beyond everything really loved one another in their own way. They had heat, passion, intensity and conflict. They were both highly dramatic, very show, over confident. On the other side of things they were clever, had a knack for manipulation. Warriors who were flawed, self destructive and brilliant. The perfect doomed matched who I loved to watch. Their last episodes of season two are just so powerful and memorable.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Pullo & Vorenus, brothers. Vorenus was stoic and loyal while Pullo was wild and followed his feelings, even when they led him down the wrong road. No matter what bad moves or wrong choice Pullo made he always stayed loyal to Vorenus and helped him in what ways he could when he could. They had a great dynamic and made for great central characters, though the show was more of an ensemble Vorenus and Pullo were at the center of things.

And awaaaay we go but first....
My patented disclaimer, this my list not yours so I'm putting what I want where I want *dirty* as I like to say. Feel free to agree or disagree just remember it's all in good fun!
-----------------------------------------------------
In case you missed it!
18. Will & Grace
17. Bones
16. Scrubs
-----------------------------------------------------
15. Nip/Tuck 2003-Current FX

"You want the wisdom to know the difference between what you can and can't change? Everything disappears. Love, trees, rocks, steel, plastic, human beings. None of us get out alive."
No matter what Nip/Tuck has always remained shocking. That's what first drew me in, the first episode I ever saw was Joan Rivers so you can imagine. Despite season 4 and 5 not being totally up to snuff this show has always and still does hold my attention. However the first three seasons are where the true gold lies. In season one we got to watch the show find it's legs and as a result got some great stand alone episodes. Season two is one of the best seasons of a television show I have ever seen to date, it has some of the most jaw dropping episodes and shocks you will ever see on tv. And season 3 kept us guessing, kept us wondering and kept us watching. Say what you will about the different feel on season 3 but you can't say that the mystery of who The Carver was didn't captivate you from start till end.
Favorite Season: Two, watch Joan Rivers and you will understand. This will forever be my favorite episode, nothing can dethrone it. Nothing.
Favorite Episodes: S1 Cara Fitzgerald, S2 Joel Gideon, S2 Julia McNamara, S2 Joan Rivers (one of the best hours of television I have ever seen), S3 Quentin Costa

Favorite Characters: Matt McNamara, Quentin Costa/The Carver, Adrian Moore, Detective Kit McGraw and Christian Troy
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Matt & Kimber, it sounds weird I know but I was just so surprised by their coupling in season 4 especially considering she technically almost Matt's step mother it's always kind of stayed with me. I mean they got married and Matt knocked her up! Talk about twisted. Then there's their season 4 drug escapades....they left me totally speechless and as twisted as it all was it was brilliant to watch. And the especially sick thing it almost seems like sometimes there is a part of Kimber that actually cares about Matt. Freaky.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Sean & Christian, brothers from different mothers. Sean and Christian have a brotherly connection, they care for each other which probably explains why they sometimes get so mad at each they end of in fist fights, like when Sean found out that Matt was actually Christian's biological son. Or they sometimes think that they might be in love with each other, like Christian's weird phase at the beginning of season 4. They have a dramatic, love/hate relationship but that is what makes it real.
14. Friends 1994-2004 NBC

"It is a love based of giving and receiving as well as having and sharing. And the love that they give and have is shared and received. And through this having and giving and sharing and receiving, we too can share and love and have and receive."
There's a reason it's one of the most popular shows of all time, it's great. It's got all the right kinds of comedy, mixed in with some drama. It's got a great cast playing eclectic characters, there's someone for everyone. Throw in a couple dashes of romance and you've got a great mix. I remember crying when Ross and Rachel broke up, totally freaking out when Chandler and Monica slept together. It was such a wonderful scene when Chandler and Monica got engaged and during the season finale I was sad to see it go. So sad in fact that I actually watched the doomed spin-off Joey. But no matter what happens next, if anything, Friends will always be a show I watch in syndication.
Favorite Season: Five, it's all Monica/Chandler. It's hard to pick just one season because I have several favorites but usually I land on season 5 and the start of Monica and Chandler who turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to the series. Who'd have thunk it! I know I didn't.
Favorite Episodes: S2 TOW The Prom Video, S7 TOW the Holiday Armadillo, S8 TOW the Rumor, S10 TOW Ross is Fine, S10 The Last One Pt 2

Favorite Characters: Chandler, Monica, Rachel, Joey and Ross
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Monica & Chandler, After four seasons of angst drama and will they won't malfunction it was nice to just have a couple that was together and that was that. They had troubles, as any tv couple should if they want it to be realistic, but it wasn't like any of the Ross Rachel stuff and thank goodness for that. Monica and Chandler turned out to be perfect for each other, more perfect then I could have ever imagined and it's weird because the idea of them as a couple had never occurred to me before but when it happened I just found myself thinking why on earth hadn't I thought of this!
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Chandler and Joey, could they be any cuter! Even after they stopped living together they were just the perfect example of the wonder that is bromance. Lame, right? Eh, it's still true. I loved watching them together each and every time they were on screen, no matter what the situation. Might explain why Joey didn't work as a solo act, without Chandler it just doesn't make as much sense.
13. Dawson's Creek 1998-2003 WB

"How can you be friends with someone when every time you see them you think about how much more you really want?"
Now I know what you're thinking isn't Dawson's Creek just another tired teen soap. We'll let me say this if that's what it was then I so wouldn't want. Now I'm not saying it doesn't have it's soapy moments, that's bound to happen with a cast of oh so pretty young teens, but it is more then that. Part of the teen power house that was The Wb back in the 90's and early 2000, Dawson's Creek tended to take the road less travelled when it came to teen show. The lead character did get the girl but he lost her, multiple times. A love triangle made an appearance but instead of the dreamy lead, the rebellious looker got her. Twice! The show dealt with all the teen issues. Sex, drugs, drinking, sexuality and love and I've got to say it is the one teen show out there that I really felt like I could relate to and believe. Most are so outlandish and unrealistic that it all feels staged but Dawson's Creek was real.
Favorite Season: Four, the glory that was Pacey and Joey created the show most memorable episode True Love. They were the high point of Dawson's Creek so that's why I tend to love season 4 above all other seasons. It's also for me the last season that stayed consistently good. Season 5 and 6 were shake-y sometimes.
Favorite Episodes: Episodes: S3 Stolen Kisses, S3 The Longest Day, S3 True Love, S6 All Good Things..., S6 ...Must Come To An End

Favorite Characters: Pacey, Jack, Joey, Drue and Tobey
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Pacey & Joey, I can never explain how much I love Pacey and Joey. They were the best thing that ever happened to Dawson's Creek and the best thing to ever come out of Dawson's Creek. True Love is forever my favorite episode of the show because of them. As a couple they broke convention, the show was after all called Dawson's Creek. Little Joey Potter had wanted best friend Dawson since she was very young but she picked Pacey and changed the show forever.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Jen & Jack, Dawson's Creek had another great factor that I loved in it's second season it brought a gay character into the cast. He was sort of second fiddle to his sister Andie, who took the lime light. But over the years he stole the show and eventually became the only McPhee on the creek. I never would have guessed it would go down that way but I loved that it happened especially because it created the dynamic duo of Jen and Jack. They were the best of friends, always looking out for each others best interests and ready to lend a sympathetic ear. They were soul mates.

12 through 10 coming soon to a blog near you!
Good luck to Federer and Nadal (I'm for Rodger though! Big time!), it's been hours since the match began but it is still to close to call but it shouldn't be long before we have a winner. After two rain delays though who knows what will happen. If Federer does win it though this will be his sixth Wimbledon win. That's just so whoa.

*EDIT#
There's really no good spoilers (except maybe a possible Friends movie
floating) out so I was flitting through my old blogs just being bored and I suddenly came across my old list of My Top 18 Favorite tv shows and I thought hmmmmmmm....so seeing as I have nothing else really worth blogging about I'm taking a break from the norm to count down My Top 18 Favorite Tv shows because like I said I can really think of nothing better to blog about plus it's a fun distraction while I anxiously await the release of Hellboy 2. But anyway I'm going to take it slow too so I'll probably only do two or three shows per blog for starters, otherwise each blog would be really really long.
And now for my patented disclaimer, this my list not yours so I'm putting what I want where I want *dirty* as I like to say. Feel free to agree or disagree just remember it's all in good fun! Anyway here we go....

18. Will & Grace 1998-2006 NBC
"Women, can't live with them... end of sentence."
A lot of people seem to forget that this was one of the first shows ever to feature a lead gay character which was saying something especially because it was on NBC, not a higher cable channel that not everyone got. This was prime time baby and everyone was watching which is why it was so good to see that as much as it featured Will, an out gay man, as the lead that wasn't the only focus. It was dealt with and brought up and it was a part of the show but there was more to Will & Grace. It was a fun comedy that for awhile there was pretty good. I can't say it stayed that way forever, it kind of was one of those shows that went for a little to long but for the most part it remained watchable right till the end.
Favorite Season: Five, for me this was when the show kind of reached it's peak. It had some great episodes after season five of course but season 5 was the best the show ever was in my opinion.
Favorite Episodes: S5 It's the Gay Pumpkin Charlie Brown, S6 Last Ex To Brooklyn, S7 Queens For A Day Pt 1& 2, S8 Pt. 2 The Finale

Favorite Characters: Will, Jack, Vince, Grace and Leo
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Grace & Leo, they had their troubles. Many of them of in fact but they were a good couple to watch and I found myself rooting for them even after everything because after all no real relationship is perfect so why should any tv relationship be that way.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Will & Grace, of course. They were best friends for a long time, minus a few bumps in the road. And then they weren't (though we only had to sit through it for the series finale) and that was okay too. They needed time apart, space apart to make room for other relationships in their lives. Other people. Normally when the main pair of a tv series breaks up it doesn't feel natural but in this case it felt like just the right thing to do because in the end we knew that destiny would bring them back together.

17. Bones 2005-Current FOX
"Just because I have breasts doesn't mean I have magical powers over infants."
I had seen this show before once or twice in it's first season but I always just kind of changed the channel after a few minutes. Then in season 3, as I become a fan of House I just sort of started watching Bones while I was waiting for House to begin. And without even really realizing it I suddenly found myself needing to tune in week after week and the rest they say is history. I know a lot of people might wonder why it's so low on the list but as I said I'm a newer fan and as much as I liked watching it in season 3 it took me awhile to get hooked and I haven't seen every episode like I have with most other shows on this list.
Favorite Season: Two, I missed it the first time around but after seeing all of season 2 I am so kicking myself for not jumping onto Bones sooner.
Favorite Episodes: S2 The Woman in the Sand, S2 Aliens In A Spaceship (easily my #1 favorite), S3 Mummy in the Maze, S3 Wannabe in the Weeds, S3 The Pain in the Heart

Favorite Characters: Hodgins, Zach, Angela, Brennan and Booth
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Hodgins & Angela, if I had to single out one character as my favorite it would be Hodgins so it makes sense that my favorite couple is Hodgins/Angela. They added such a nice refreshing splash of romance to the show that I think it was missing in season 1. They are so cute and perfect together too. It's kind of that whole opposites attract thing, even though they aren't total opposites. She's a free spirit, very artistic and emotive. Hodgins has got the free range mind, he's a very fact oriented guy and he's good a good heart. They bring out the best in each and I love it.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): Brennan & Booth, I know some people are going to shoot me for saying this but I find Brennan and Booth's relationship perfect just the way it is. I don't need more and I don't really want more, though it wouldn't be so terrible. I like their banter-y head butting under neath it all I really care about you dynamic. It's one of those it seems as though they are really best friends kind of things (even though they're just acting) that's so rare I don't see why they want to go and spoil it with a undercurrent of love-dovey stuff.

16. Scrubs 2001-Current NBC/ABC
"And so in the end I knew what Elliot said about the way things were had forever changed the way we all thought about them."
I won't say the show is just as good today as it was back during the first couple seasons but for all it's negatives it still has plenty of positive, however I do think it was time to hang up the stethoscope like two seasons ago. For what it's worth though I still enjoy watching this show a lot, I watch reruns most every day. Jd is the cutest little spaz you'll ever meet, Elliot though somewhat less dynamic then her earlier days it's still a hoot to watch, I love Dr. Cox's insane rants and The Janitor will continue to creep me out and make me burst into laughter well into the upcoming seventh season on ABC. And then there's always The Todd.
Favorite Season: Three, after season three there was some kind of shift and while the show still remains good it has a a different quality that just isn't the same though still enjoyable in a different way.
Favorite Episodes: S1 My First Day, S2 My fruit Cups, S3 My Best Friends Wedding, S5 My Day at the Races, S6 My Musical

Favorite Characters: Jd, Dr. Cox, Elliot, Jordan and Carla
Favorite Couple (Romantic): Dr. Cox & Jordan, they're totally crazy and a little mean to one another but I don't know something about it just sort of clicks. I love Dr. Cox and Jordan as characters separately but when they are together it's all the more the better, especially when their young son Jack makes an appearance. What a fun little dysfunctional family.
Favorite Couple (Non-romantic): I'm one of those folks who used to ship Jd/Elliot but made the transition to preferring them as just friends right about the same time they both did. It's just that there are so many romantic couples on tv and that's great, I love a lot of them but sometimes it's nice just to see a non-romantic long lasting couple for once. It's a nice change and it can be so much more fun then all the angst-y relationship drama I also thinking it's very fitting for a comedy like Scrubs. So if Jd and Elliot got back together I'd be fine with it but I don't need it to happen, things are good the way they are.
-----------------------------------------------------
Hope you enjoyed, 15 through 13 next time around!
Ashley
