    Metal Gear Solid

I want to play MGS4 to finally get some action on my PS3... but I haven't played any of the other games in the series.

    How troublesome.

    You know, obligatory GTA post

Yeah, I finished GTAIV. Somehow, it took me 40 hours/66%. I guess I failed a dumptruck size amount of missions. I'm relatively sure I failed 1/3 missions I attempted (according to the in-game stats).

My take: GTAIV is easily one of the best games I've ever played. It has its issues, for sure. I have a few gripes with the game. Overall, though, my enjoyment allowed me to ignore any annoyances. The game has left an impact on me that will last for a long time.

I might have to play through again to see the "alternate ending." However, I don't think I'm ready to jump into that opus just yet. I should probably study for the rest my finals.

    Trifecta is complete

    I finally slurged on a Playstation 3.

I was in Best Buy, completely minding my own business (see: looking for a DVD rack), when a force of nature blind-sighted me. This force of nature happened to be my mother.

I told her that I was interested in picking up the Planet Earth DVDs but that I would have to wait till I purchased a Blu-Ray player (the PS3 in my case). I mentioned how I would buy a PS3 eventually but had just been putting it off. She suggested... "Well, you have the money... why don't you just get it now?" She put is so simply that I could not deny my inner yearnings any longer... and thus, a new PS3 sits in my living room.

I didn't realize that it didn't automatically come with an HDMI cable. Balls to that. I just ordered one + shipping for less than 10 dollars though. I'm sure at Best Buy the cheapest cable would have been about $30 so its probably just as well that I didn't realize the lack of included cable at the store.

I needed something to watch on it (I didn't feel like blowing the 470+ including the Planet Earth DVDs) so I went with No Country for Old Men on Blu-Ray. I have seen it before, albeit not in Blu-Ray, but my Dad really wanted to see it as well so I figured that was a good a choice as any. I'll probably end up watching it again with him.

I tested the machine when I got back with the HDMI cable I use for our cable box on our 40" 1080p Samsung TV and the movie looked damned sweet. I had an HD-DVD player so I've seen movies in HD before; however, there was still something impressive about the quality.

I've yet to pick up any games though. I'm sure I'll take a stroll (okay, car ride) down to the local gamestop soon enough to pick something up. Any suggestions?!

[Update] After a little research I'll probably try to pick up these games in the near future:

    1. Resistance: Fall of Man
    2. Warhawk
    3. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
    4. Everyday Shooter
    5. PixelJunk Monsters
I'll probably go with Uncharted before the rest of the lot, however.
