Is the PS3 Worth the Money?
To start, I want to say this: If you're looking for nothing but a solid game library, right now, the Xbox 360 is the choice for you. Now, that may be all you wanted to hear, but please let me elaborate a little more. The 360 has been out significantly longer than both the Wii and the PS3, obviously giving it time to get a great head start on a solid library. As of right now, in terms of exclusive games for the PS3, Resistance is about it. For real. Now I'm also obsessed with Oblivion, but that's also on 360. However, I have a sense of looking beyond right now and seeing all of what my PS3 is capable of. You see, right now the graphics, sound, and gameplay of multi platform games are identical on the 360 and PS3. However, also right now, game developers are only tapping into 30% of the PS3's "almighty power." So when I see games like Ratchet and Clank Future ToD, Lair, Warhawk, Final Fantasy XIII (Versus), Heavenly Sword, Metal Gear Solid 4, and many others coming out this fall and beyond, I KNOW that they are going to be INCREDIBLE! Because they're all exclusive, the developers of these games have focused all attention on draining every last cell-processing whatever to make these games amazing. In time, even this fall, the PS3 is going to have games like Killzone 2 looking as unbelievable as the controversial E3 2005 trailer. I guarantee you, those days are very near. And also, as of now, the Sixaxis controls thrown into games like MLB 2K7 are CRAP. But in an exclusive (and amazing) game like Lair, the motion controlling will be unprecidented. Soon my friend, by this Christmas, I assure you the 360 will continue normal sales, everybody will have lost interest in their Wii, and the PS3 quickly over-taking the top.
However, there is more. Blu-ray movies are INCREDIBLE. If you have an HDTV, you must get a PS3 if only for the Blu-ray player (FUN FACT: Blu-ray is outselling HD-DVD 3-1 and Blockbuster just announced 2,000 more Blu-ray only stores). Also, with the memory card slots, me and my family always check out photos and videos on my PS3 and I can easily copy them onto my hard drive. I hate to sound lame, but my PS3 actually is the center of my living room.
Last but not least (congrats if you've made it this far), Sony is pushing revolutionary new games and ideas for the PS3. For example, I'm sure you've heard about Home; it's a long story and a big deal, so if you haven't, you really need to check it out. It's basically an incredible virtual world with "PS3 Achievements." In addition, games like LittleBigPlanet are pushing the boundaries of multiplayer games with its sense of freedom and sharing. You and friends can make these amazing levels from each others houses, and then share your creations with the world. These things, and much more, are really going to revolutionize the PS3 and the gaming industry.
If you're still reading this, congratulations! I hope I could help.

New and Improved Xbox 360
First of all, that thing looks U-G-L-Y. WTF? I thought the whole white and green thing was really sharp lookin' but this thing is just nasty. Anyway, I would like to make a few good points.
1. Giving up on HD-DVD so soon?
Blu-ray has been so successful, as a matter of fact, it has outsold HD-DVD 2 to 1, simply because of the PS3. Not only is the PS3 a very attractive gaming console, but it is also remains the cheapest Blu-ray player out there. So, if one happens to purchase a PS3, chances are, they're gonna buy Blu-ray movies. Xbox, however, never had the opportunity to include such a key feature into their console. Instead, they released a $200 add-on for HD-DVD movies that not only made the PS3 look like more of a bargain, but they've been collecting dust on store shelves for months. So what a perfect opportunity to rival Blu-ray and PS3! Nope. Rather than make it function like a PS3, Microsoft just tried to make it look like one.
2. 120 freakin' GB???
20 GB is simply not enough for most people. That has been made blatantly clear since most retailers don't even sell the 20GB PS3 and Microsoft owners have been complaining for over a year. Triple that and you've got yourself a sweet deal. Most people would agree, despite jealous fanboy-ism, that 60 GB is an excellent and plentiful amount of memory for most consumers. But rather than include HD-DVD capabilities, they add more useless memory. But hey, you can still buy the 120 GB hard drive separate for less than $200 (i.e. $199.99). Something tells me that sales will be surprisingly similar to the HD-DVD add-on.
3. Why so much?
At almost $500, the new 360 is far from a steal. Although, it stilll remains cheaper than a PS3. But who the hell is going to burn $500 on an ugly Xbox with too much memory? $80 more for 40 GB more useful memory and an HDMI input? If you want to rival the PS3, you're gonna need to do more than make it more expensive for HDMI and some more memory.
4. They simply couldn't do it.
Not only are current Xbox owners already screwed, but including HD-DVD capabilities would have screwed even more people worse. So instead they added HDMI. In addition, they couldn't make it affordable. Including all that would have cost far more than $600. They simply couldn't do it.
5. Well . . .
Well nothing. It's too late. The PS3 is already out and although the sales aren't doing as incredible as originally anticipated, give it time. Microsoft presented their argument in November of 2005. Sorry. But an uglier look and useless memory isn't enough to rival Sony in the long run.

Zune as a Handheld Gaming System
Not to be blunt, or rude, but the Zune's role in the handheld gaming industry would drop faster than Nokia's chance with the N-Gage. As a personal owner of both a PSP and a DS, I can say that I couldn't be happier with either one. Both handheld systems have devoured sales over the years in both systems and games. The Zune isn't even designed for gaming purposes. And trust me, it's going to take a lot more than Tetris, Bejeweled, and Pac Man for either Sony or Nintendo to waste time for a second look. Games like Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, New Super Mario Bros., and Final Fantasy III will trample any ball-chomping half-sphere. The Zune is an excellent mp3 player, but an mp3 player it shall remain.- Posted Jan 11, 2007 8:06 pm PT
