A lot of new content in just one day
Today marks the first day of the Tokyo Game Show and will continue to run over the next three days. It's an always an exciting time of the year since it's the start of the Fall titles and we get all these updates on the games we'll be playing over the next few years. For anyone who has been tracking it will already know there have been some major announcements about upcoming titles, release dates as well as exclusives going multi-platform. There's a lot to talk about so I'll try to keep everyone informed on it or atleast tell about some of the announcements that have already taken place that I'm excited about.
A new title has emerged from the teaser trailers from Bungie for an upcoming game in the Halo franchise specifically named Halo 3: Recon. As the name suggests it is an expansion of the universe most likely depicting the soldiers efforts as the Master Chief was fighting the flood. It looks like the tone will be more gritty and have more darker environments than what we've come to get used to in Halo 3. This will most likely become a stand-alone title rather than DLC that can be purchased from the Marketplace since the differences between the two games are substantial. It follows a group of ODST soldiers that are called in to take care of extreme matters, they are skilled and believe team-work is the key to their success in the past. You will play as a soldier who has crashed his capsule behind enemy lines and now must struggle to get out and regroup with his squad. It hasn't been announced yet if this title will be either a FPS or a Third Person Shooter, but whichever it is I'm sure it'll turn out great.
The new Xbox Live experience has been given an official date and will be released on November 19, 2008. There have been a lot of speculation that it would've been released simultaneously with Gears of War 2, but it looks like we'll have to wait two weeks. They have featured almost everything we can expect now so it's really just waiting to the day now. It seems that you start off with a pre-set of your choice and you then build from there with different clothing items and all that. It's a fact that you can still use your current gamer pictures and themes, but they say in comparison you'll want to use the new stuff. I say it's up to the user haha. The marketplace has been revamped almost into a website perspective for each game to give you a one-stop on everything about it and may even convince you to pick it up from the screenshots. The gamercard still looks sharp and maybe even better now since it has a new feature that displays your achievements.
This was just announced today, Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion is now coming to the Xbox 360. Once an exclusive title will now be featured on Microsoft's console as well. Street Fighter IV gets Sakura as a playable character which some of you may remember from SF: Alpha and other games. Still no word on some of the other rumored characters such as Fei-Long or Dan. The game will be released in February of next year so hopefully they'll be included. There have been alot of new trailers released and a lot of promises seem to be kept from the developers. Specifically the new Resident Evil 5 trailer, it just keeps looking better each time. The only other thing I would want to see from TGS over the next few days is a public released trailer for Final Fantasy XIII and maybe some details on Forza Motorsport 3. This show just started and I'm actually surprised about some of the annoucements already made on day one.

gamer update: number four
Just a few new things since the last update that I wanted to talk about. I have some details on a few things I mentioned slightly and also some accomplishments from this site that I was stoked about. The first thing that I wanted to mention is that after being on this site for just over three years I passed 5,000 posts in total. I did only start posting about two years ago, the first year was mainly looking up games or adding a few things to my collection. It's been great being on this site and I will continue enjoying to do so. It also means I'm halfway on the prestigous 10,000 posts, that would be my next goal.
I finally got the details set for my trip next month to Italy. I'm leaving on the 20th of October now instead of the 27th because it was easier to book and I get to stay almost the entire month, I'll be back on the 18th of November. Most of my time there will be in Palermo which is in Sicily (the island) and I will be going up to Rome for about 3 days to visit all the sights. Also one last thing is most likely I may go see a Serie A soccer game while I'm there if I can get tickets. I'm stoked about that since the last time the season hadn't started due to it being summer.
Yesterday I ended up seeing an arcade, so without a second thought I checked it out, I can't remember the last time I've seen one since most of them were closed down. I went in expecting the new Street Fighter IV, unfortunately it wasn't there but they did have three other SF games. It brought back some memories; Marvel vs Capcom, Capcom vs SNK 2 and Street Fighter: Second Impact. Haha it was a lot of fun just seeing someone walk up then it saying new challenger. I'm alright at them but definitely a lot better at the console versions since that's where I spent the most time playing those games.
Last thing which has to be about games. I finally beat Sequence in Geometry Wars Evolved2 the other day. I had one life and one bomb on the 20th and final level so I cleared half the stage with the bomb and cleared the rest of the other enemies with traditional weapons for the win. Finished it with 31 million in points, but I broke that today with 33 million. The only other game is Battlefield: Bad Company, I got my General last week or so and now I'm at about 2800 kills. I still have to go back and play the story on Hard but right now I'm working on the 10,000 in kills achievement which won't be for a while but still worth getting.- Posted Sep 21, 2008 3:03 pm PT

Put this one in the books
Just a few things that I thought I'd share. A lot of you may remember that my Xbox 360 broke and I had to send it in, well I got that back about a week ago and to my surprise it was a brand new console. I guess they didn't feel like fixing the disc drive so turns out I got lucky. As stoked as I was I didn't really feel like playing anything, I think I played BF:BC and that's it first day. As a result I thought I'd start playing something that I haven't in a long time and that would be Bioshock.
I remember getting this on day one and being completely amazed by it and the same thoughts reocurred during this playthrough as well. The thought of attempting to get that new achievement as well as trying out the new plasmids and tonics were one of the reasons. It's still a great game to play even now with so many new improvements in the gaming industry.
This one won a few awards for Game of the Year and it shows. Anyway I finished it today and it turns out I missed out on something for getting the Brass Balls achievement, but I did get the rest of the original thousand I needed. It looks like another playthrough will be in order in the future when there's a time there's nothing else to play.
The other thing I wanted to mention is that I'm going away next month on a vacation you could say, I'm stoked about it. I'm going to Italy for almost a month, haven't been there in about two years so I'm excited to go. There's a lot to do down there and it's just a great experience, I'm staying with relatives and going there alone. It's great, the only downside since there's always something to everything is that Fallout 3 comes out the day after I leave. I'm sure the game will turn out to be AAA material. I guess it'll be one of the first things I get to when I get back. I'll probably post up pictures or have a few updates while I'm there to keep everyone informed. That's about all for now, alright peace.
