Don't believe the hype; my heart feels about ready to burst! Colonial Marines has stolen sleep from me cause I don't think I'll be able to close my damn eyes tonight! 4.5? Jesus why do they let Van Ord review anything? Grab a headset, immerse, and then you'll see: I give A:CM a gorram 8. Easy.
Maybe I'm not a FPS fan; you know what? I'm NOT. But I am an Aliens fan, and this delivers.

Wow you are the first person I've seen give it a positive rating. From what Ive read it sounds the like the shooting aspects of the game are bad and the aliens theme is handled badly. There were demos shown of the game over the years and the demo looked way better than how it turned out.
@lazyhoboguy Honestly I really don't know what ticked so many people off. I find it excellent. Now I'm not a big FPS fan but I just came off of Bulletstorm and Far Cry 3 and I am STILL loving the hell out of Colonial Marines. Granted I AM a huge fan of Aliens and granted I DO hate Modern Warfare... so there you have it.

I pretty much know nothing about this game. Is there a multiplayer mode that lets you be the aliens? Like Left 4 Dead?
@Garrison_Ford Yes. Multiplayer is also unbalanced, so the marines HAVE to work together or they'll get slaughtered. ;)

@johnsteed7 Understandable.
I'm burnt out on seeing campaigns reduced to 'toss-in' status due to online play rackets. I mostly blame Microsoft's XBL service for pushing the industry in that direction. Once they proved they could get away with it, it opened the floodgate.
@nate1222 @johnsteed7 I wholly agree, but the campaign in this is something I'm really enjoying. Plus it's supposed to be accepted Canon to the story.

I remember this one Aliens & Marines game came out on 360 years ago, and I had an online buddy that wanted to play it. I think you could also play as Predators in that one?
I never got it, but I seem to recall a lot of people thought it turned out so-so anyway. Besides, when you have Halo, you really don't need too many other games with online FPS.
Interesting. Not my sort of game but among my wife and kids opinions vary from Kevin's to yours so....lol
I most generally agree with Keven but you know that the main thing about video games is do you have fun playing it?
just as with movies I have had a heck of a good time playing games that had mediocre ratings.
just because a game doesn't have any great technical or graphic inovativeness doesn't mean it can't be enjoyable.
@iowastate And that's where I violently disagree with KVO... almost every time. He never seems to enjoy playing games; he just rates them based on technical merit.
I've played the majority of the campaign and really don't like it. Felt the review was spot on.
matasig dont let one bag egg ruin the franchise play alien triogy on ps1 and alien resurrection ps1 those were awesome games i played them for hrs hell me and my mate did 12hrs on alien trilogy ,also aliens vs predator on pc the first and second version were excelelnt games to even alien 3 on super nintendo was good ..the recent alines vs predator on xbox was ok not great i was letdown by it to but i hope this game is good

Aliens is awesome. I haven't played the game, but VanOrd gave Skyrim a 9, so I agree. Why does that review anything? That game sucks!
How far in are you? Because the campaign progressively gets worse. I wanted to love it, but it just didn't do it for me. I play a lot of FPS games so i guess i'm tired of certain overused conventions, but colonial marines didn't do it for me.
Give the multi a go, despite the issues its still fun.
Have you played AvP 2? If you haven't give that a go. It's probably the best Aliens game there is.
@Katzenbalger Never played any of the AVPs. I'm at the part where Winter has been captured. So far I LOVE it. But I am playing in the dark with a 7.1 surround headset...
Heh, i suppose the immersion would heighten things a bit. I just felt let down, as though it could have been so much better. The fact that it was completely different to that cool demo they showed a while back was disappointing.
Have you tried online yet? Escape and Survivor modes are both pretty good, giving you that 'last stand' sort of feeling.
Sorry but i kinda agree with VanOrd here =P the Aliens series is one of the worst in my opinion, and Pitchford is...well sucks! but it's just my opinion so please spare my life kay ?^.^?
