Lego StarWars, GPS Trolleys and Easter Break
Lego Starwars
Before I talk about my love/hate relationship with the "Lego StarWars" Games, I would like to point out that I am a huge StarWars whore, I eat that stuff up, For example know what Leia's ship is called at the start of a new hope (Tantative IV). I know who shot first. (First Han, Then Greedo, then both at the same time depending on the version you watch.) I also know that the Green Jedi with the nice smile from clones is Kit Fisto.
You would think that this would automatically translate into love for the Lego version, which it was at first. It ticks all the boxes: The look and feel of the films, tongue firmly implanted in cheek and Lego charm to boot. But for a very long time the game just plain annoyed me. Having to shot everything in order to collect Lego studs? Seemed pointless to me at first and i smashed through the story and left it.
I picked up the Complete saga for Christmas and I've only just got round to playing it again, and its grown on me so much, I'm starting to appreciate the puzzles and playing through in freeplay mode to do all the extra puzzles, and collecting enough studs for that one more bonus item. And so I'm now kinda looking forward to the Indy and Batman versions coming with their respective films.
GPS Shopping Trolleys
I was listening to the radio at work today , and a segment came on about GPS Shopping Trolleys. I thought they would go on about supermarkets using GPS to find missing trolleys at the bottom of canals and such. It turns out there's a system being trialed somewhere that you enter your shopping list and it plots the most efficient way around the supermarket to get all your goods like a Sat-Nav system. I think its the best thing since sliced bread, I can never find what I want in supermarkets and i always end up doubling back three or four times a trip. Imagine how much time could be saved. Even 10 Min's off an average once a week shop is 8 hours you could be doing something else every year.
Easter Break
For us glorious students, Second semester has finished and we get three weeks off. I got a few things planned. First some gaming, I want to finish my second play through of Mass Effect, go through Bio-shock and Ace Combat again and maybe pick-up Assassins Creed when I get paid. I also want to do some programing, try to finish a game I started a few weeks ago, we'll see though. I also want to have a full crack at an XNA game don't think I'll have time for that though.
Until next time sports fans,

Second Blog Post (Original eh?)
Welcome to the second ever blog post
Quick update about what I've been up to recently methinks:
I've been rocking the Call of Duty 4 Online for the last few days, its pretty fun to be honest and the levelling system is very addictive, easily one of the best online games I've ever played.
On the Uni Front, I'm working on some coursework at the moment, Winsock client/servers if anyone interested, got reading week next week to finish it off though.
As for the XNA adventure, I installed the framework and had a look at some of the tutorials, it looks easier then pure DirectX programming that I'm used too but I have to look up some C# syntax to see how it works fully.

First Blog Post
Having been a member of Gamespot since Jan 05, I've never really joined in to the community, I've read countless blogs and forum posts and finally decided I should join in some of the discussions myself. I plan on Joining Several unions and commenting on some peoples blogs that I've been reading for a while and even start my own blog god forbid.
I should start by introducing myself I'm Vengefulwings, I'm a Student at the University of Huddersfield doing a honours degree in Computer Games Programming. I'm 20 Years old and eventually plan on working as a AI programmer with a nice games company somewhere.
I've been playing games since the Amstrad back in the day when i was too young to play properly moved onto the amega. I was a Sega kid back in the 12 and 16 bit era and from then was more of a PC gamer before rocking the consoles though , owning most major consoles except the Nintendo systems which is a weird throwback from my Sega kid days. I currently own a 360 in this generation of systems and plan on getting a PS3 when the price drops and some more games I want come out.
After watching the Microsoft GDC keynote, I'm going to have a crack at a XNA game which i may blog about at some point. I'm more of a C++ programmer then C# but it all helps a more well-rounded CV i guess.
That's me in a nutshell I guess, If you see me around say hello and any comments, pointers or advice on joining in the community let me know
