    College 2008: A 3-Month Freshman Review

Well, it's finally that time of the year, when high school graduates go take their education farther by going to college. The time where living alone without any parents, and being thrown into an environment fueled by stress, opposing viewpoints, drinking, drugs, sports, hobbies, social outings and academics throw the average kid into overdrive and make them handle this at once.

That's me, and college is really that stressful.

I've been in college since mid-August, and I must say, it has been more than I had expected.

Tests are hard, homework is whatever, and teachers can be boring. Welcome to college, perhaps?

However, I do believe the hardest part is the social aspect. It's not that I haven't made any friends since being here... it's more about if I want to do what they like to do---you know.

However, academics, are killing me... I never thought that teachers can teach basically everything off of a slideshow and you can miss that class and still know what to do... but at the same time missing class makes me feel like I'm missing out on something important.

Homework is given, but students are never constantly reminded about what is due and what is not. It's all about responsibility and how the student handles it....and that's very hard. I enjoy the challenge and I look forward to more.

    What I've done so far:

    Major: Nursing
    In-state private college
Extracurriculars: United States Army ROTC (meaning I have to drive 4-5 times a week to another school in order to do so. Oh well, as long as I get a full ride through college, right?)
    # of units: 23 units.

    Schedule Load

Chemistry:Hard, but fun once concepts are understood.
Anatomy: Hard--too many things to remember.
    Math: Medium--sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't.
    Art: Booooring.
Psychology: Our teacher ate dog poo in front of his students (It was actually clumped up Tootsie Rolls)
Army ROTC: What we learn and Labs are the best.

Is it possible to still get my life back in order?
