    The dreaded Red Ring

It had to come at the worst time didn't it.

    ^

This Saturday I'm suppose to be going to a Halo 3 LAN and bring my 360, Halo 3 of course and 2 controllers. I'm still gonna go, but now I'm gonna have to use someone elses 360 and share a 51cm TV between 4 people instead of 2. Screen size isn't a problem for me its the screen cheating that is. I hope its mainly team games. Other than the screen cheating I guess I'm still going to have a fun time (I always do at LANs) but not as much if my 360 hadn't RROD. On a positive note, I was glad it was the RROD instead of a disc reading error as that isn't covered by the warranty... I think.

While I wait for a new 360, I'll just have to play Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2 (which I got last month) and also whip out the N64 and play some Perfect Dark and Goldeneye.

Finished my TAFE course + my view on single player in today's FPS/Shooter games

Well about 3 weeks ago, I finished my Cert 3 course in IT at TAFE and now I'm using the extra time to play games, lurk on Gamespot and go out to Brisbane. I don't think I know enough to get a job in the IT industry so I will be doing a Cert 4 next semester.

I'm getting kind of bored with all of the FPS/shooter games coming out. Back in 2002-2005, I was a PC gamer and the FPS/shooter games on PC had massive campaigns and great stories. Far Cry, Medal of Honor, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, you name it. In 2006 I stopped gaming so I could improve my grades in school (the jump from grade 10 to 11 was huge). When I started gaming again in 2007, many FPS/shooter games had ended up with 6-10 hr campaigns and a very high emphasis on multiplayer. The stories were also hampered. This has severely disappointed me, as I have been a fan of campaigns in FPS/shooter since I first started gaming. It is a shame that multiplayer has taken the spotlight in the gaming industry, especially in my favorite genre of games. Luckily, for me, I have gotten into playing RPG's and this has satisfied my love for a good story. I have my 360 to thank for providing a library of RPGs . Nonetheless, I hope developers do not forget about campaign and a decent story. However, I have little faith in this, as the developers will appeal to the masses and they demand multiplayer.
