  The reality bites

  After the storm comes... the flood

  
  

  When I thought I was all safe thinking only about the Oscar reality hit me back. So hard that I'm still shaking.

  My sister has a job no more. Do you remember that I said she was doing great? She was. But today she screw things up without knowing. She has a constant pain on her wrist and she's been going to the physiotherapist for a week or so. He said that she would have to wear some bandages if the pain didn't go away. Which hasn't, mostly because of her job. And she made this mistake of saying that to her boss. Who, obviously, got it wrong and told her that she couldn't ask for a sick leave because she's only be there for a two weeks. Thinking that she was one of this people who doesn't want to work, fired her right away.

  My sis wasn't asking for that but she's unemployed now. The joy lasted too little. But she is doing fine, after all "it wasn't such a big deal" she dared to tell me. I know she meant that she was only saying that, not that she was going to be off a few days. But I was really angry, all our plans are gone. And it hurts. Side effects.

  My situation at work is delicate. I still don't talk to this partner in crime and her friend (who is doing an internship only) dare to tell me how to manage the situation. He thinks that all I want to do is have some authority over him (which is not true) and I think he wants my position, doing things that he's not being asked for just to play the "nice guy who wants to do anything". I'm letting him, mostly because I don't feel like running (again the amazing racecame thru) and the other guy who works with us things I do nothing to fill in the pages. And he even says so!!!! Today he told me "Yeah, I do know that you won't have anything to write in here" so I simply decided to to shun them for about an hour before I left.

  Because of that tomorrow I will have a talk with my boss. I can't go there like this. This is my dream job and nowadays I hate every minute I'm there. Also I have an appointment with this shrink, but the situation has changed. All this wasn't happening yesterday so... worst side effects ever.

  Now is where I have to apologise if I'm not reading or commenting on your entries this weekend. And I shouldn't, my problem would be even bigger if with all that I lose my English because I stop doing things that I enjoy. But I only feel like laying in bed and waking up next year. Far away. I'm sorry in advance.

  Shiny happy people!

  What a night!! It all began with me being back from work. I needed to have dinner, watch No country for old men (yet!) and take a quick nap before the ceremony. Which I still didn't know if I could watch live.

  That said I need to tell you that I've been looking for different ways of watching the ceremony for a month. Before I always went to my granny's, where they have this pay channel, be there the whole night not sleeping and coming back home at the morning. But this year they didn't have it so I needed to work on it.

  And I succeeded!! I missed the first 11 minutes (that would be John Stewart's speech) but thanks to this great people on the radio, broadcasting it live, I didn't miss it really. After, image joined the radio and I could, for the fifth year in a row, watch the ceremony entirely in English. Yay!

  And I loved it!!! Many memories to keep and a fun show to watch. Maybe because I was thrilled I could watch it and despite of all the people that still doesn't understand why this is so important. As Jack Nicholson said on stage movies can help you get away when you need to get away.

  So here are the winners:
  Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood. No surprise here. Loved his speech and how he acted with Helen Mirren.

  Javier Bardem in No Country for Old Men. It was written already uh? I never realised how much I like him. His character was great but his real being is even better. Loved what he said, to his mother, in Spanish, to all of us. I'm proud

  Marion Cotillard in La Vie en Rose. A wonderful surprise. The poor thing didn't see that coming and she totally deserved it.

  Tilda Swinton in Michael Clayton. Well, she was great too. I didn't like her that much and maybe there's the wonderful thing: she was acting.

  Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. Yeah, they rock too. No surprise here either.

  No Country for Old Men. It was obvious. If they win, their movie should win

  No Country for Old Men Written for the screen by Joel Coen & Ethan Coen. Obviously, they were the best directors and they made the best movie. This had to join that fact.

  Juno Written by Diablo Cody After Little Miss Sunshine I should trust the Academy more. I was surprised a movie like that got the best original screenplay. But it really was fantastic!!!

  Ratatouille. I still don't like it

  The Counterfeiters Austria. Surprise surprise!! I still can't believe it. But it was truly remarkable.

  FALLLING SLOWLY!!!! The writers, front singer of The Frames Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova were amazing on stage, performing the song. But their speech (John Stewart made her go back after a commercial break because she didn't have time enough before) was even better. He was just surprised that his movie --shoot in 37 days in Dublin-- about a street musician and a Czech young girl falling slowly, had the opportunity to be there. She encouraged everybody to never give up.

  Now it's 6.47 am in Oviedo and I'm attending the biggest press conference of the week at 12.00. So yeah, I'm going back to bed.

  My favourite: Tough one. But Juno. Of this list, Juno was my movie of the year
  My choice: Juno. I usually don't agree with the academy
  Is it winning?: Naa. I'm assuming No Country for Old men will get it.

  My favourite: None? Seriously I was expecting more of all them
  My choice: Ratatouille but I didn't like it at all
  Is it winning?: That's what they say

  My favourite: I could only watch 3 (Beaufort, Katyn and The Counterfeiters)
  My choice: Katyn has a lot of controversy flooding around. Also I don't think this or The Counterfeiters have a chance because last year's winner was another one about the Nazis. Beaufort then?
  Is it winning?: No idea. I don't know about the other 2 and they may be excellent

  Also: I hope the song "Falling slowly" and the Original Soundtrack of "The Kite Runner" win their Oscar too. The song because it belongs to a wonderful story and the other one because the composer is Spanish
