All About blindsided82

Am I the only one that's getting tired of the fanboy crap?

Ok, like many of you out there, I have been playing games for many moons (since the days of Commador 64s and Ataris), and have been witness to all the battling consoles and their ever so loyal fanboys. Now that I've grown up (a bit anyway), I look around at the fresh round of fanboy wars going around and start to wonder to myself, what the hell is everyone's problem?

Seriously people, what happened to appreciating a game because it is good, and not just because it's on the console that you decided to invest money in? I know everyone has their own reasons for fanboyism, whether you are a Nintendo fanboy simply because you have bought every generation of Nintendo console, as Sony fanboy because you feel you have to be allied with the most powerful system hardware wise, or a MS fanboy because you love Live and Masterchief, or if you just had enough money for one system and thought it was best to stand firmly by your investment. Regardless, the way I see it, all of these just lead to close mindedness and a disturbing amount of gang mentality. I seriously wouldn't be suprised one bit to see an "Outsiders" type gang fight with opposing sides clad in green and blue, and of course the N gang (N for Nintendo, not that other word) wielding thier "nunchucks" around wildly.

Now to be fair I'll admit fully to my collection, in that I have a PS2, XBox, 360, and Wii. Am I somehow an anti Sony PS3 basher because of this? No, I just don't have $600 to toss away at the moment, and quite simply MGS4 isn't out yet. I don't own a PS3, but I'd be a fool to not be excited about some of the things that Sony is coming out with. Im stoked about MGS3, the wild thought that they may eventually come out with an updated FFVII, any other FF games, and of course a next-gen God of War. At the same time I'm extremely happy with my investment in the 360. With the crazy amount of games coming out this fall, and the colossus that is Halo 3 coming upon us, there are plenty of reasons to love the 360 (not to mention how cool having Live is, as my more than half full 120 GB HDD will attest to). Nintendo, while going between really cool, and collecting dust in the corner, is still full of some interesting potential as is limited only by the imaginations of game developers in the years to come. Seriously, who would have thought of peripherals like the Wii fit before this summer? The Wii isn't always my cup of tea or my favorite system to play, but the potential it holds for many others is undeniable.

The point you ask? People, whether it is your undying desire to somehow feel elite or superior to others, to feel like you are with the cool group, or you just like bashing on people, the hating is really unecessary and getting older with every Halo 3 or Killzone forum sporting opposing fanboys. The fact is that all 3 of these consoles have alot to offer, some really awesome looking games coming down the pipe and are all quality (otherwise they would not be considered one of the "Big 3" if they truly sucked). It is ok to admit that the console you didn't get has something cool to offer. Solution? Get a job that allows you to buy that other system, get a friend that has that other system, or just stop being so damn close minded just for the sake of close minded gang mentality. Oh, and put away the console-color-coordinated clothing and the console gang signs.
