Final Fantasy V and Tropical Storm Hanna

So, tropical storm Hanna is headed my way, and D.C. has ben getting a LOT of rain. I love rain and we do sort of need it, but what worries me is that there's a flash flood warning for my area. Last time we got one of those, our basement filled up with two feet of water.

Also, I put aside FFTA2 for now and moved on to Final Fantasy V. I'm quite impressed. The story is nothing to write home about and the ATB system seems to be moving a bit slower than I remembered it in FFIV, but it's still a solid game. The biggest draw is the awesome job-skill system, much like that in Final Fantasy Tactics. Each job has a particular skill (sometimes more than one) and there's a secondary skill slot to assign another skill regardless of job. So you can have a warrior with the jump ability or a black mage/white mage combo. Pretty cool, I have to say. And without the massively slow-paced battles of the FFT series.

Also, I kind of want to write a review guide. I tried to write a "fake" one but it didn't work out like I'd hoped. And I also plan on writing a review for Burnout Paradise sometime in the near future.

Just as I feared (Lock's Quest related)

Advertising works. I saw an ad for a demo flash verion of Lock's Quest and, being somewhat interested in that game, tried it out.

    See for yourself.

It's kind of what I was afraid it might turn into: a DS version of Defend your Castle. Clicking (or, in the final DS version, tapping) a lot of foes isn't going to make for a fun game. Admittedly, this is severely dumbed-down and for all I know may not resemble the actual game in any way, shape, or form.

But if the DS version ends up being like this or even has any segments like this, I'm going to be disappointed. I was hoping very much for a more strategic experience and this feels like a DS-custom button-masher.

Also, I wrote a review forFinal Fantasy Tactics Advance 2. I actually kinda like it...but then again, I wrote it.Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think.

    Season opener

So, tonight the Redskins are taking on the New York Giants in the NFL season opener. Go 'skins. Should be a good time.

And I don't have an INSANE amount of homework tonight, so I can actually watch it. Huzzah!

Yet another N+ speedrun. This level is a heck of a lot of fun once you get used to it -- dashing around and dodging all those enemies is pretty thrilling.

I died on this level around 200 times before I finally beat it. I finally did, however, and my insane amount of practice allowed me to do it somewhat gracefully and quickly.

This happened in the level "Relics of the Past". I got off the machine to cross the bridge, and I promptly found myself in the lava at the bottom of the level.
