What does credibility mean exactly?
This is something I've been asking myself for past few days. Many people have different opinions on what it means, but the most popular one seems to be the one where the reviewer has the same opinion as they do. Because the only way to be credible to have the same opinion as everyone else, right?
Wrong. If that was the way to earn credibility, then we'd probably see a lot high review scores, along with highly positive reviews, and then it's possible that it wouldn't be the reviewers opinion. Instead it'd be the opinion of someone else. And we don't that now do we?
But then again, maybe that is what everyone wants. After all who needs reviews that do what they're supposed to do, right? Although if this were to happen, then I'm guessing that almost every game would get a 9 or 10. Seeing as that's what everyone wants games to get. And that would mean that it would be hard to tell what games are good and what games are bad, and not to mention reviews most likely wouldn't be as subjective as there are currently. And personally, I don't want that to happen.
Now I'm fine with everyone having their own opinion, I just don't like seeing people say that GameSpot's lost they're credibility just because they disagree with they're review. I wish they'd stop doing that. Especially when they haven't even read the review. If they disagree then they should write their own review, instead of saying that a site has lost they're credibility because of simple disagreement.
In fact, if you disagree and haven't read the review and don't give any examples of why the game better than the reviewer said it is, then why should I listen to you? Because when you do that you don't seem very credible to me
And do scores really matter? If you're enjoying a game then, why should the score matter? It's not like it's going to affect your enjoyment of the game in anyway. After all, it's just one persons opinion. That shouldn't matter when you enjoy a game, right?

Don Daglow on Game Development 20 years in the Future
Some of you may remember the blog post I made about his last panel which was called, "What Makes Games Next-Gen." If you don't, then don't worry about it. That's not what I'm here to talk about. What I am here to talk about is, his latest panel.
If you don't know who Don Daglow is, then I'll do me best to tell you about him. He's been making games for 37 years, so he has a lot of years of experience. He's worked for Intellivision, EA, and Stormfront Studios which is where he is currently working at.
Anyway, back to the panel. In it he sums up many of the important trends that have popped up in the past few years, in order for developers to understand where things are headed. He doesn't make any predictions, but considering that we're in an industry where we are constantly surprised by advancing technology, it makes sense why didn't make any predictions.
You can listen to the panel here if you're interested, but you should know that it's pretty long.
It was an interesting panel. He might not have predicted how games are going to be in the future or anything like that, but it was still very interesting. Give it a listen and see what you think.

Burnout Paradise crashes into PSN
Today at the EA Showcase, Criterion Games announced that a PSN edition of Burnout Paradise will be released this fall for $29.99, and it will also inculde all the updates that have been released.
I don't have a PlayStation 3 yet, but even so this is awesome. If its out when I get a PS3, then I'm definitely buying this. If not, then I'll just get the retail version.
And in other news, GameSpot Wide launched today. But you probably already know about that.
