higher end, baby!
I just completed a new upgrade of my PC.
That is to say, I just spent an exorbitant amount of money enlarging my epeen! (No pills or pumps necessary!)
New specs:
Pentium i7 920 (stock clock 2.65ghz, slightly overclocked to 3ghz)
2x 9800GTX in sli
6GB DDR3 RAM (1333)
X-Fi Xtreme Fatal1ty Edition (soundcard...)
and, umm... a couple of harddrives
and an LG Blu-ray RW drive
E-Peen! E-Peen!
Now that I've spend all this money, and can play games at ridiculous settings (omg, I see the god-rays in Crysis!), I just have to figure out how to pay some real bills, and, you know... buy food, and whatnot.
But who needs food, when I can just take some stimpacks and eat rad roach meat in Fallout 3?
Not I, says I!!

ahhh.. the sweet succulent smell of success....
coming from an almost exclusively console gaming background, I was eager to jump into the oceanic pond that is pc gaming - although, there was (and still is, to a lesser extent) some trepidation.
Now, I'm in - I have my gaming pc, and it runs games smoothly, and gorgeously. I have my first few games, and they are above and beyond even my loftiest expectations.
Yet, there's still that nagging itch at the back of my mind - is this worth the leap from consoles to computers?
I will have to upgrade my system - and fairly soon, I fear. I'm figuring, Q1 2006, I'll have to make some major overhauls - I'm running a 2.53 gHz P4, and a Radeon 9700.. and both are very good - for now. But, with dual-core processors coming soon, and faster, strong GPUs on the way, w/ the next-gen consoles, will my PC last?
Not to sound as if i'm complaining, mind you - a friend sold me this computer for a measly $100 - with those specs, and a 5.1 Soundblaster Audigy2 card.. very nice, indeed. and what a steal.
but, here i stand - a newly converted pc gamer. I still have to get used to the MMO's (teamwork? what's that?), and the idea that every single piece of this machine is customizable (oooh.. make the lights blink!!!).
Playing Half-Life 2, with the lights off, and the sound turned up - there are no reservations. I delve into the game, and am emersed completely - the hairs stand up on my arms, my heart rate increases, and the outside world fades into oblivion. No console can do that - not even my beloved Xbox.
