My Friends

20Jun 09

N.B. - Just thought I'd throw that "winter break" in to be different to those who are in their "summer break" right now ... lucky people with their sunshine and heat ... we're stuck in a cold snap, with tomorrow's high being 14 degrees ...

Rightyo on to the real blog now! My winter break has not technically started yet, but I've only got one 2 hour exam left for this Wednesday, so I'm calling it early. The general idea for the next 5 weeks is sleep, work, games and hanging out with mates. As for specifics ... well, I'll get to them later.

The thing I want to do the most is get together with mates. Some of these mates I haven't been able to see since the start of the year, and it'll be good to catch up. There are four groups of people I'm hoping to meet up with. My "old HS group" includes my closest friends from school, Mitch, Dobbie and Dick. My "new HS group" includes Elliott, James, Mic, Dobbie and Dick (notable exception of Mitch). A third group I'll call the "outsiders" here include Olivier, Delliott and Malik, all of which I'm good friends with from High School but none of the others from the other groups like them. And finally there's my "workmates" of Jess, Peggy and (hopefully) Allie, my newest mates which can prove you can go out with someone and still be close friends after you break up .

Now, you ask, why can't I just go out with everyone together. Well, the New and Old HS Groups used to be one single group in HS. It was basically like two small groups (Dobbie, Mitch and I; Elliott, James and Mic; Dick a friend of both) coming together. Mitch n Mic were really great friends, until Mitch started dating an ex of Mic, and so to this day Mitch n Mic cannot be in the same room together. Also, seeing as Elliott sided entirely with Mic, Mitch now hates him to, and vice-versa. James stayed out of the conflict, Dobbie remained entirely neutral and I sided with Mitch, though not burning bridges with the others and keeping friends with them. Also, we used to hang aroun the same area as the "outsiders", which are just 3 of a group of about 10 people which were labled the "emo's" and the "nerds". As much as my group disliked them, I personally liked Olivier (same class for yr 10 ML, yrs 11 and 12 English and IT), Malik (first friend I made in the school, yrs 11 and 12 Business Studies) and Delliott (member of the same political party, yrs 9 and 10 English). Also, my workmates have never met anyone from my old HS.

As for games. I purchased Gears of War yesterday for $30 at Game. Really good game so far. I haven't played it that much yet as I've worked today and have had my young nephues around (even thoug they've watched some of the most violent movies imaginable). I've also added a few games to my collection that I've had for a while but not pu them to the list, including Fifa 08 for the 360 and Fable and The Sims 3 for the PC. Might also pick up Assassins Creed over the holidays ... 2 games should be enough for me

Finally, it's my 19th in about 6 weeks!!! Got to start organising the party . See you off (working tomorrow and 11pm already )

    Wow, that mates thing was so confusing, lol. Im surprised you can keep track of it all and all of them.

    I guess you should try to start The Sims 3. I heard it is amazing.

    Honestly, I rather swap weather with you. I always loved Winter and can't stand the heat. 19th buy in 6 weeks? Wow, where do you find the time to play?

    @Dracula68 - STOP COPYING ME! I was just going to say that I prefer winter, especially the highs of 14 degrees. Since highs here in winter can be -15 (yay Wisconsin), +14 is awesome.

    I know what it is like to have different group of friends that once were one big group. Sometimes a pain.

    Enjoy your winter break though. Just don't get sick. That's a real bummer.

    All of you complaining about the hot weather should have to live in the tropics where the average daily temperature for the entire year is 33C

    @smashking777 - Yep, I live in Australia
    @TristanH12 - I've played The Sims 3 a lot ... I've got a love-hate relationship with the game (I'll review it soon)
    @Dracula68 - I don't mind the weather being cold ... better than being 35 degrees like it is in summer ... so I agree with you there. Also, I meant my 19th birthday, not 19th game ... I wish I had enough time for that
    @horgen123 - I'll try not to get sick
    @thrubeingcool13 - Is a shame, but should get used to it ...
    @Soulreavercross - lol that is quite hot. Does it vary much over the year or stay roughly the same? @JustPlainLucas - Same here

    Coming towards the end of the year,Q4, it can get as cool as 30C during the day, but around Q2 and Q3 it can get as hot as 35C

    Not good enough. I want a promise

    @Soulreavercross - you got a steady temperature all year around. It doesn't change from -25 to 30. You get used to it. We don't

    @Horgen123 - Ok, I'll promise that I won't get sick ... unless there are unforeseen reasons that I do end up getting sick
    @Soulreavercross - Gee, that is very ... warm. Is it hard without air-con?

    Sometimes it is unbearable, but it's easy to adapt and get accustom.
