    Football!!!!!!

Its that time again, football season, there really is nothing better in all of sports. The NFL starts up again and I am giddy. What will we see this year? Another amazing upset like we did last year? Will the Patroits win it all and show everone that last year was a slight screw up? What will be the surprise team of the year? What records will fall? Who will emerge as a star? Will the Dolphins win more than 4 games?

Its the start of the season and as always its completely unpredictable. I am actually excited this year cause I know my team will get better, they can't possible get any worse than last year, we can only go up . For real, the Dolphins do look improved, I trust in the tuna and he has shaken this team up. Pennington is a decent QB and the best we have had since Marino. I am more excited about Henne though, in the pre-season he was solid, he looked like a true QB, I think by seasons end he will be our starter. The defense also looks improved, odd cause we lost the two best players on the team who were on defense. Its going to be an odd year cause there is no face of the franchise, Zach and Jason are gone, I think the longest tenured Dolphin is Ricky Williams... speaking of which he looks good. Ricky and Ronnie could be the best RB tandem in the league. Now I dont think the phins will be a winning team but I think 6-10 or 7-9 is a possibility.

There is also fantasy football of course. I got Tom Brady on my team, if he does anywhere close to as good as last year I will be in the playoffs easy.

For tonights game I predict the Giants winning a close one. It wouldn't surprise me if Washington won.

And now the real reason you came into this blog, pics of the Dolphins cheerleaders!

I review Siren Echo Calibur IV: Blood Crome

I am running through games so fast, lets get some more reviews out of the way.

    Soul Calibur IV -

I didn't put enough time into it to make a proper judgement so don't take this as your only review. Its a fine fighting game, the engine seemed fine, tons of fighting styles for everyone. Again I have been spoiled by VF, I cant seem to get into any other fighting game. In this game the blocking seemed slow to me, the reversals were a bit hard to do. It doesn't feel like it has that same precision a VF has.

The game does have a ton of content though. The story mode is quick which is nice cause there are so many characters to play through. Tower mode offers a hard challenge and requires you to build up your characters. The create a character mode is addicting and tied with the skill system its almost RPG like. So there is a ton of stuff to do offline. Online was a bit of a mess, playing with friends is ok but with others its a hassle, the menu is god awful.

Its a clearly a great fighting game, it just didn't do anything for me. I played as Vader (sweet!) got that out of my system and was done with the game. But I can acknowledge a good game when I see one.

    Overall Score: 8.3

    Siren -

This game surprised me a lot and has turned into one of my favorite horror game in years. It doesn't play like any horror games you are used to. Its an odd fusion of gameplay mechanics spread out in bit sized chunks. Most of the time its a stealth game with weird monsters instead of guards. You have this ability called sight jack with allows you to see through the eyes of the enemy, I perfer a simple radar but it makes the game unique and disturbing when you see what these creatures see.

The best aspect of this game by far is the variety in the gameplay. While the stealth is the main focus its mixed up so well. You play as many characters and in different locations and situations. The game is split in chapters and each one has gameplay sections where you have a goal and depending on the character, different weapons or skills. For instance in some sections you are a little girl that has to stay completely unseen. In another you are a guy with a rifle and have to provide cover fire for others. Later you are on an escort mission where you have to solve some puzzles. It never grows old cause the game always has you do something new, even if in old locations. As the game goes on it just gets better and better. Its creepy as hell, the gameplay is fun, and the levels are done in such a way that you will want to replay them cause you can complete some using different tactics so its a deep game as well.

Sadly the game is being held back by some of the gameplay controls and decision. As I said the sight jacking is a major part but its the one thing that doesn't feel right, when you go into this mode you lose half the screen to the vision of the enemy. All of a sudden the framerate drops and you cant your character and the level well at all, its too hard to play. The camera sometimes stays too close to your character and unlike RE4 this game has very enclosed spaces so it gets hard to see things. Combat is really simple, but its not the focus of the game, when you do need it, it feels right enough; ibut ts no RE. One of my personal complaints is that there are only 4 or 5 large locations in this game and they are reused over and over. Its not that bad cause you are always doing someting different in them but a little chage of scenery would be nice.

It looks good, it plays great, awesome vareity, good replay value, great length, very creepy. If you enjoy horror games and have been disappointed lately this game is for you.

    Overall Score: 8.7

    Echocrome -

I thought the concept of this game looked great, it looked like such a fun puzzle game. Well it was, for like 10 minutes. Then its the same thing over and over and over and over and over again. The game does not have that addictive quality the best puzzle games have. There is no sense of getting better at the game. Its just the same stuff repeated forever. I guess its not bad per say but it gets a big blah from me.

    Overall Score 5.2

    Summer of downloads.

So far this has been one of the best years for gaming that I have ever seen. Huge monster games have come out and we are not even at September. The summer, a usual time of drought has sprung to life with a plethora of downloadable games that give us such a vareity of gameplay. Downloadble games have made this summer an absolute joy and I hope this trend continues.

Just look at the crazy mix of genres I have played through downloadable games. I have a remake of an NES action/adventure classic, a high score junkies platformer in pixeljunk Eden, one of the best horror games in years in Siren, a new chapter in the Ratchet and Clank saga, an nice add-on for one of the best old high score shooters in Stardust HD. And that's just PSN, so many amazing games Sony and company have put out these last view months on PSN, bravo. Then there is the 360 which this month went crazy with abig game every week. Geometry Wars 2, man I want that so bad. Braid, I played the demo, platforming puzzle sexiness, instant buy for me. Wii hasn't has many good games on Wii Ware or VC lately but there was Strong Bad which is a very funny and fun point and click adventure game.

I have played so many awesome games, some in genres and styles I have not played in years. When would I have ever believed I would be getting NES gameplay goodness redone in beautiful 3D graphics, its crazy the times we live in and I want more!! More craziness, like The Last Guy coming out next week on PSN, its like a pac-man/Snake like game that takes place on google earth screen made by three guys from India in a shack with a goat, who would have ever thought anything like that would ever come out, well cause of downloadable games its possible. Soon we are getting an NES sequel to Mega Man, imagine if you went back in time a few years and tell yourself that was going to happen, you would say thats BS. Thats the magic of this downloadble game craze.

This is why this the most awesome gen ever, I know there is a lot crap we put up with on the hardware side but software, never have I seen such a beautiful mix of games coming out at one time.
