    Dark souls

I would like to give a few reasons as to why dark souls ranks as one of my favourite games, well to begin with after playing games for the majority of my life I've never really played a game quite like it, never have I been so afraid to take a step into a dark corrider as so with this game, the reason being is that the system the game runs on is souls, it's the games currency the way to level up, the only way to advance forward to most parts of the game, and by dying you lose these souls so it becomes frustrating to die and most of all frightening this I believe forces the players to be more considerate with the moves they choose, rather than trail and error which is what most people get to when respawning is so easy and so close to your last position. Another thing about dark souls is that I really felt a true connection with my character I remember when I was walking on a pillar in anor londo actually leaning forward to make sure i wasn't going to fall and that gut wrenching feeling of falling to my death, the emotions were as sincere as if I was the actual character. The game mechanics are unlike any other i've played the precision with each movement, the beautiful attention to detail, and one other thing i love about this game if you can see it you can go there, you feel unbounded by any game boundaries, there is no area which you aren't allowed to go through yet, some areas you probably want to leave till later but going there is always an option. Another thing I loved about this game is that it makes mistakes difficult to forget for example if you choose to level up something and realize half way through that you may want to continue as a mage rather than a soldier it makes it extremely difficult and forces you down the path you've already chosen unless you're willing to spend a considerable amount of time levelling up. One other amazing thing about this game is the bosses, in no other game will you go up against a boss who's 30x the size of you and 30x the strength of you, there is no button smashing only hit, roll and heal this may sound repettive but there is nothing repetive about it, as the bosses movements are unpredictable and random making it difficult to remember your movements to follow a sort of fail proof algorithm. Simply put if you haven't played this game you must! don't let the difficulty scare just view it as a big reward left for you at the end of the game.

    next generation consoles

Everybody seems to have given their opinion on this, and now i want to share mine. Nowadmittedly I haven't done my share of research on possible future progress, but all I know is that although I am excited for a new generation of consoles, I believe it's too soon to see the end of the PS3 or xbox 360 although they've been around for an unbelievable 6 years! Time has indeed flown by, and I've enjoyed every moment and every hour squeezed out of my machine, but I believe there is still more to offer. I know that there has been reports that production for PS3 games will continue as well as for Xbox even after the release of next generation consoles although new and improved technology would be amazing I still believe today's generation of consoles still have massive amounts to offer, and the production of a new console will mean most resources will be diverted to creating new generation consoles and I am not sure but this seems to have a correlation with the quality of games. Now I would like to share what I believe are top tips for next generation consoles to succeed:

I believe the system has to be stylish people showcase these consoles as a piece of furniture nobody wants to hide their consoles they want to show off their new flashy toys! I would love to see sony get more creative with their console design, rather than the cube design they've maintained since the first playstation, although the PS3 arguably is more artistic it remains something a child could manufacture.

The controller! Now i know this has been mentioned before in gamespot's review but Sony have to modify their controllers it's maintained the same design throughout it's history with minor tweaks, I believe in order to really step up their game sony should develop a new controller designed to be sleek and trendy while being functional. Also what I would love to see more often are co-op capable games, one of the greatest things about the playstation 3 and the xbox is the fact that they could support upto and beyond 4 players, however the games that actually allow you to use all 4 controllers can easily be counted on your hands, now this is a problem especially for me because i love playing with my brother and i love playing competitively with friends and it's so much more interesting than playing a lan game because the connection is simply terrible from time to time and it provides an unfair advantage for the player with a better internet connection. I know as we approach a more modern age people believe that they should keep up with modern technology but a little old school never hurt anybody!

(I apologize for any false information like i said before this topic wasn't well researched before i dove into writing this blog)

E3 2012 what are you hoping for?

The biggest gaming expo of the year, excited? Well i am, a lot of great titles are featuring at this E3 and definitely the surprise few that everybody's been waiting to hear from. Maybe Hideo Kojima will announce something about MGS5 hopefully, or even more of a fish bone is square enix's final fantasy 13 versus that showed previews way back in 2006 as one of Sony's main release titles for the PS3 it sure is the reason why i bought one, we've been waiting six years and still no talk, last E3 was the same, unfortunately again square didn't produce any evidence of development. But you've always got to look at the bright side of things , hoping for more on God of War as well as AC 3 maybe even a hint or two on the start of kingdom hearts 3 seeing that Kingdom hearts 3D will be coming out this july extremely excited for that. What else? what other games do you hope to see? I have no idea what we'll see but i know it sure is going to be an exciting event to see what new consoles will be released my eyes especially on the WiiU and whether they've decided to change the name to NES, or do nintendo still want a console that sounds like an ambulance siren... no seriously try it WiiU, WiiU, WiiU
