Witness for the Prosecution -- 10/10
Witness for the Prosecution, a Billy Wilder masterpiece, is one of the finest courtroom dramas. I'd go as far as saying that this is superior to 12 Angry Men. Billy Wilder constantly injects witty dialogue at the finest moments blending humour, suspense, and drama together perfectly. His screenplays are almost always fantastic. Not only do they have near perfect pacing, but they keep the viewer interested at all times. The film constantly had me on my toes (not literally of course!) wondering what evidence or events could turn up next. The acting is also superb; I'd expect nothing less from a Wilder production though. Charles Laughton put on a spectacular show, one of the finest in his career. Enough praise for this film though! I highly recommend it. Personally, I find it to be a near equal to that of my favorite Wilder film, Double Indemnity (one that I will have to most certainly view again).- Posted Jun 24, 2006 8:27 pm PT
