I'm about this close to deleting Dead Space 3 from my PC and burning the disc.

Why?

In one very lengthy optional mission, I'm almost about to reach the end when the bloody current surges and results in my PC restarting (sadly, my UPS does little more than prevent the PC from completely shorting out). With a sick feeling in my stomach, I load up the game only to find, the bloody game does not save during optional missions. What must have been an hour worth of progress (partly due to the kleptomania I have only when playing video games) is lost! ...

I just don't get it... the game autosaves regularly during the campaign but not during side missions? I'm not even playing the stupid co-op... Why I force myself to play crap, I do not know...

Dead Space 1 & 2 were amazing, I enjoyed what I played of the DS3 demo on PS3.  Is it really crap? Hoping its jus the PC version?

To those interested, well, final clock time - 13h:49min on Hard difficulty.

Avoid this game at all costs.

I'm eyeballing the first Dead Space on Steam after playing the Android version on a classmate's tablet and loving it. But, even if I wanted DS3, I'd wait for a price drop and until a have a laptop with a slightly better GPU.

@nate1222 It's not a very graphic intensive game. There are tons of low res textures even with the graphics cranked out to max.

Dead Space 1 is a great game. The rest? Terrible games.

I have Dead Space 2 but haven't played it because I heard it's just a more frenetic, action-focused sequel.

The first game however is very atmospheric and tense.  I enjoyed it very much.  There was a funny thing I read on GamesBeat where the writer mentioned that Dead Space was initally planned as a System Shock sequel.  Not sure how much weight that holds, but I will say that I liked Dead Space's mechanics more than BioShock's, even if BioShock provided the more interesting world, it lacked the survival aspect that Dead Space went for.  It was harrowing at times and intense too.  Great game.

The sequels?  Eh, I don't feel like it.  They don't look too hot.

@nate1222 GOG is awesome. Glad they're one of the few that give out DRM free games. Moreover, the additional stuff they give like wallpapers, manuals etc are pretty damn cool.

@NeonNinja @fend_oblivion @nate1222 System Shock 2 is pretty awesome. I'm glad GOG recently got it in their catalog. I wishlisted it for next pay day. DRM-free, woohoo!

@NeonNinja System Shock? That's surprising indeed.

Sadly, DS was one glorious IP ruined by the cogs of the corporate world. Don't waste your time playing the sequels - read the story on a wiki or something. Dead Space 3 offers no closure what so offer; only breadcrumbs to another sequel where we do the same stuff all over again.

I don't have Dead Space but I do have Dead Island and while it can be a tad frustrating it is also fun even though I've only just started

@iowastate Dead Space 1 was awesome. 2 sucked. 3 follows the same trail of suck.

@fend_oblivion sounds like quite a few movie franchises - the original was awesome and the others were produced only to make money.   Or like the Hunger Games trilogy....the first book was...o.k. I didn't think it was really all that   - it was not spectacular imo but it was good.   the second two books were written specifically as cash cows.

some sequels are good - LotR comes to mind and the Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, Clock Tower games.    but more often than not they are counting on the loyal fanbase to buy whatever they offer.

have you ever bought a movie based game?

@iowastate Yes. Some were awesome like Chronicles of Riddick (also one of my most favorite franchises) and some were meh like Spider-Man.

I was surprised with the first Hunger Games. I really wasn't expecting it to end "that" way. And Lenny Kravitz as Cinna? lol Didn't expect him of all people to act so well.

I don't know if I'll bother with the next 2 movies in the HG series. My brother is intent on buying the Trilogy Edition of the books from FlipKart. Oh well...  :\

I hate all the RE games except for RE 4. That game is still a classic :]

oh, I can't tell you how many times I've hit save and quit and it didn't really save much of anything...very frustrating...

@pokecharm If you save that way, the only thing that gets saved is your inventory. Very frustrating, I know...
