Dragon Face

This is my first anniversary blog ever so I want to make it count even though I have to wait until next year to get the five year emblem. So what makes this year great is the fact that Assassin's Creed 3 came out on the Exact day I joined GameSpot October 30th 2008 is when I became a GameSpotter. Also I got to message with two of my favorite editors on this site and they are Maxwell McGee and Seb Ford! I almost forgot Chris Watters such an interesting man. Interesting fact they are the same age as me which is 25, but Chris is older though anyway I'm rambling on here so much to tell, so little time.

I finally made my costume of one of my favorite characters from the Naruto Anime. Most of you seen it is the six tails form of the demon fox Kurama. The total cost was under 100 dollars, but definately worth it. Comic Con 2012 is a ig deal for me since Shaun McInnis was hosting since Chris Watters was on vacation and it shocked me that Shaun read most of my tweets. Second Day during the One Piece Game Demo he read my comment about staying hydrated in San Diego and thanked me for it. I just typed it, didn't think he wuld read it, but I felt all numb which is a good thing I hope. On the third day of the stage show though he read most of my questions although I missed the Halo 4 demo, still it was awesome and near the end when he talks with John Davidson and Justin Calvert he has a small stack of the 2012 Alex Ross Comic signed in which he wanted to reward one of GameSpot's twitter followers and he said my name!!! I screamed and I died yes I died of shock and joy and I have it on display.

Also this year is sad too because alot of editors are now gone to do other things in the gaming industry. I really miss Tom Magrino and it angered me when I found out he was laid off due to budget cuts or something stupid and that The HotSpot was being put down for good. I still cry about it since it hurts and okay I need to be strong here. Then on GamePlay Podcast John Davidson announced on an episode he was leaving GameSpot to start some gaming project and I hope he does well. Then I found out on Quoted for Truth that Brendan Sinclair was gone as well!! Madness people I mean I liked him alot and he is on my friends list along with Synthia and Jody It made my day on the Super Mario Kart Anniversary video when Tom McShea was talking about the quality of the different versions and I typed in "My God I am surprised that Tom McShea is still alive Despite all the smack he talks about Mario." Brendan read it twice which made me laugh and the fact that Tom McShea liked it which left me confused. Anyway even though this site is changing to fit in the future, there is no other gaming website I rather be at and I made so many friends here, why would i leave all that so this is my 4th year here and I hope GameSpot stays online for a long time

Hmm, my account is 8 years old (about 1 month over, missed my anniversary) though I remember one of the first things I read on gamespot was talking about diablo 2 coming out soon, and will it differentiate enough from diablo 1. So I guess that means I've been a fan of gamespot for about 12 years. Didn't make an account until I had a reason, can't remember what that was. Think it was something like being able to download pdf faq's or something like that.

I have used this site for years. I used to look up cheat codes for the original Xbox on here,  and I finally made an account  about nine months ago. This is a great site.

November 24th is my 7th year :-O Didn't expect that. I come here almost every day, but I only recently started using my account to post comments. I now realise 7 years ago I was 17... time flies by. When people at the age of 25 told my they wished they were 18 I always thought they were complaining, but when you finish school and start working, living together, planning for children... time flies.

Here you there. I remember when I first joined this site, I got a job as head of electronics in retail and life was awesome back then. All I ever cared about was what game is coming out next and getting lost in it. I still love to game, but these days I got to focus so much on my career and when I am dating shrinks down even more. I count it as a lucky day when I can sit back tell everyone to shut up and game for 8 hours with tons of unhealthy food lol.

I made a new profile last year 'cause I didn't like my previous one, though I originally started a profile here in 04, but I've basically been visiting the site since its inception. I was young and the internet was new, to me at least, when it started, but I very much remember what it was; it was a site my brother went to when we were young, for games, and in 2001 I came across it again, but it wasn't until 04 that I really started coming on it a lot. I kind of stopped coming here for a couple years and contributing after Jeff Gerstmann and a bunch of others left, but I came back last year, and now this is one of the top game sites I come to again.

I'm so sorry for you being here so long. I've been here seven. You don't want to be in my shoes. Leave while you can. Save yourself.

@AntaranX Lol dude, I've been here since the 90s, on and off of course. There is heritage to this website and people have witness gaming evolve here. If you got the balance right there is nothing wrong staying active here for years to come :)

Same! Just over 4 years, although you are definitely a more active user! GameSpot is basically my morning paper, but I can comment :)

Hey, Happy aniversary. I've been here for around 4 years myself. I'd just like to let you know that Tom Magrino is now on Gamesradar, and hosts a podcast called RadioRadar.which is quite amusing. It fills that Hotspot void that was left after it's cancellation. I'm glad he stayed in the industry.

Congrats.By the way anyone gave  a thought on who might  be the longest serving member of GS?I am also curious to find who is the oldest member by age.

Yeah definitely much love for gamespot.

My favorite editors would be Tom McShea , Chris Watters and Shaun. In that order :). I don't think gamespot would be the same if one of them leaves. Also Kevin, Maxwell and Carolyn are pretty good.

I just figured out that your name is actually pronounced Girl Draco 7 :)

I've been here for three or so years and, despite everything that's happened and all the words said, GameSpot's still my second online home.  I've made a lot of awesome friends here---yourself included---and that's really what keeps me coming back.  I hope you stick around for another four years!

Grats for the 4 years!  I've been around since the beginning but really just never signed up until fairly recently.  I forget how many years now.  It has changed a lot, both the site and the staff.  I was very sad to see Carrie, Greg, Jeff, Alex etc all leave, and lots of others over the years.  But it's still a cool place, and I'll be here for the future of it as well I'm sure!

If you count my original account I have been a member here for around a decade. So many people have come and gone over the years it is really hard to keep track of it all. When I first joined GS it was right after the DotCom bubble burst at the beginning of last decade and a lot of the content on the site was locked behind a pay wall. Things that we take for granted today like reviews, videos, previews, even some news articles all required a paid subscription back then. Things slowly started moving more ad based and between 2004 and 2007 we had the Golden Age of Gamespot under Kevin VanOrd, with what is now the Giantbomb team, and Rich Gallup, and a bunch of other people who have since moved on. Close to 90% of the staff that was here when I joined is gone now. And most of the staff who then replaced them is gone as well. A whole lot has changed. In fact less has stayed the same than has changed. For me, GS now is kind of a shadow of what it was at its best, but I still enjoy coming here, and things are better now in some ways than they were between 2008 and 2010. And of course in others they are worse. It's pretty amazing to look back on it all. I hope you stick around for a while. Not a lot do.
