  Queue Darth Vader "Nooooooooooooo!"

  Not two weeks after Jeff Green announced his departure from Ziff Davis, today I visit 1UP only to find that his co-worker Shawn Elliott is leaving as well. Sum this up in two words:
  
  THIS. BLOWS.
  
  
  
  A lot of people seem to be leaving the game writing industry these days. Who will even be left? Ryan Scott is the last surviving member of the now-deceased GFW magazine. And pretty much everyone from GFW Radio is gone now, so they might have to discontinue my favorite podcast.
  
  But hey, /salute Shawn and good luck wherever he's working. My guess? Valve. You read it here first!

  Conspiracy theories in your Massively Multiplayer game

  If you ever have an exchange like this in World of Warcraft, report him for terrorism!
  
  [Warmonger] Leading a big raiding party next Thursday!
  [Warmonger] A fun little romp through StoneTalon Mountains.
  [Warmonger] Yes, but this time I want to hit the Keep!
  [Talon238] Wow! You must have aquired the Dragon Fire spell?!!!!!
  [Warmonger] Yes. Last week. It's in my inventory and ready to cast!
  [Warmonger] Excellent. The time for the raid is 11:30 PM.
  
  And now you know; terrorists are hatching lingo-filled plots in World of Warcraft!
  
  You really can't help but laugh at this story, especially with all the terms he fit in that are clearly innacurate... at least to dorks like me.
  
  There are no raid dungeons in Stonetalon, there are no Keeps to speak of, and there's no Dragon Fire spell (the closest you get to that is Dragon's Breath). Oh, and spells don't go in your inventory silly man-peach.
  
  If we wanted to get lingo-ish, the conversation would go like this (also, what terrorists would be scheming in public? Even if they talked like this in-game, they'd do it in the privacy of Party chat or something):
  
  [Warmonger] Are you coming to Serpentshrine Cavern with us on Thursday?
  [Otherwarmonger] Yes, of course.
  [Warmonger] Have you specced into Living Bomb (a real mage skill!) yet?
  [Otherwarmonger] No, not yet. Once I aquire the respec fee, I'll be sure to train it as soon as possible.
  [Warmonger] Excellent. Meet us 11:30 at the Flight Master in Zabra'jin Villiage. From there we will mount up and make our way to the raid.
  [Otherwarmonger] Will tonight be the night we finally Kill Vashj?
  [Warmonger] I'm thinking it is.
  
  And just so you know, the above conversation could actually happen. But hopefully we've all learned that truly anything can be a metaphor. And knowing is half the battle!
