You Can Now Find Me On

My new forum is Neogaf and my user name is Cardon. So if anyone is interested I suggest signing up with Neogaf and hopefully you'll be accepted in the next batch of users. Gaf is a pretty cool site since a lot of developers and journalists post there and it's an extremely harsh site in some respects.

If anyone needs to message me for tech support then you can contact me at fishman912000@yahoo.com.

The End?
So this is probably the end of my Gamespot tenure. To wrap things up I'll probably post a final blog thanking all my GS friends, sharing my thoughts on the game industry and other random crap about how I still have problems getting a girlfriend and how I think Speed Racer is probably going to be the most under appreciated film to be released in the past decade. So just stay tuned in the next few days for my final goodbye.

Trip to New York

So this past weekend I visited New York to attend the New York ComicCon. I arrived on Thursday and left early Sunday. Now this is by far the best vacation I've had so far mostly because I saw GTA4 in action. Seeing GTA4 in action was accomplished by visting this radio show I love called Opie and Anthony. Now O&A actually know Lazlow, the radio DJ in the GTA games and he's actually the co-writer of the games as well. Lazlow was in the studio to show off the game to O&A since they're in the game as voice overs. With me knowing a few days before that Laz would be in studio I decided to wear my Liberty City Swingers shirt which ultimately got me the chance to see the game. When I was in the XM studio Laz noticed my shirt and I said I got it off the site. Now originally Laz wasn't going to show the game to any of the in-studio audience since Rockstar is so tightlipped about the game and was worried about people taking pics or footage but given my dedication to GTA through purchasing shirts on the website Laz let me see the game for about 5 minutes and before he left the studio to leave he hooked me up with a black GTA4 shirt. I of course thanked him for showing me the game and he's a really cool dude. So I basically became the first non-industry person (someone who doesn't work for Rockstar or is a game journalist) and isn't a staff member of O&A, in the world to see GTA4 in action. Now here are my ComicCon highlights:

  • The Incredible Hulk movie looks really good based on the two clips and trailer I saw. Crazy action scenes
  • New Dark Knight trailer is kick ass.
  • The new Angelina Jolie action film "Wanted" looks quite good as well and has a scene with a dude shooting the wings off a fly.
  • The Hellboy game is a bit boring
  • Hellboy 2 looks to be really sharp. At the panel they had with the actors they had the creature costumes come out which was nice to see in person.
  • Eva Mendes is hot, she wore this really cute dress.
  • Seeing Reboot co-creator Gavin Blair and having the chance to talk to him was really cool.

Uber Collector Status Confirmed?
Today my favorite import site Playasia opened pre-orders for the Japanese MGS4 PS3 bundle. If you're unaware this bundle includes a steel colored 40GB PS3 and Dualshock 3 as well including the Special Edition of the game. Now I had been planning on purchasing another PS3 for some time now as the JP one's always came in cool colors or had cool bonuses. Despite the release of the White and Silver SKU's I decided to wait for the MGS4 bundle. I was lucky enough to obtain my pre-order for the bundle through Playasia before they sold all their allocations. This MGS4 bundle certainly seems to be a hot ticket as the JP Konami site has also sold through their stock of the bundle. Now obtaining this bundle did come at somewhat of a steep price though as I will be paying $772 when it ships on June 12. Now I will certainly have quite alot of saving up to do but for me as a game collector it will be worth it as this bundle will be a true limited edition and I doubt there will be a second wave with the Steel PS3 included. Here's hoping I can meet my goal of having that amount saved up by June or you can expect a blog from Mr. Ian where he will be crying.

The Pit That is Craigslist

With me being a young and single chap with no lady in his life my friends/co-workers/mother constantly tell me how I should actually put forth an effort to finding a lady. Now despite living in the social hub that is Chicago, more specifically the Northside area, I'm not really the type that goes to bars to try to chat up a hottie for a fling. So in my typical "i love teh internetz" fashion I decided to check out good ol' Craigslist. Now I have visited in the site in the past in my search of finding an arcade cabinet to purchase but have never checked out the Personals page of the site. Hmm, my initial impresions of the site both leave me slightly frustrated and bitter.

So I decided to actually put a post in the "Men seeking Women' section of the site. Now despite me being a somewhat geeky fellow, as you probably know through my previous posts or first hand experience on GS, I actually put up a decent post talking about myself for a bit and what I'm looking for. To my surprise I got a few responses which were good and then replied. But then I got nothing back. What gives? Perhaps my pic, and no it wasn't my infamous sad faced Ian holding a lightsaber pic, wasn't to their liking or perhaps they were just playing games. Playing games is a common thing on CL as people flat out post fake ads or have no intention of replying to inquiries. There have also been a few times during which I've been browsing the "Women seeking Men" section and found a decent post which caught my interest. When I decided later in the day to send the person a message I've been met with a page that says "this posting has been removed" which means CL took the ad down. Now was this due to it being a fake or perhaps someone wanted to be a jerk and report the persons ad for some reason.

So what is a fellow to do? Continue to use CL, I'm somewhat LOL'ing at myself at that idea, or perhaps actually try to chat up some ladies in real life? This one dude I work with says I should try to do that but I want to know in what reality does he live in which allows a 6'4 dude with long sideburns and who typically wears sunglasses can approach a lady somehow without totally freaking her out.

T minus 8 days before moving....
