Tutorvista- 10 Minutes of Nonstop Fun
Have you Ever heard of Tutorvista? It's an online tutoring service that gives free 10 minute demos. After that though, you're forced to pay high prices for unlimited tutoring. You've got to hand it to these tutors- they take a lot of crap from kids. The following is a conversation my friend sent me. Not sure where he got it from. After getting his free 10 minute demo though, the student managed to keep the tutor on for an extra 10 minutes! 20 minutes of fun for the price of none!
[ 04:01:56 PM ] Acad Coordinator :ok
[ 04:02:04 PM ] :Was the demo session helpful?
[ 04:02:07 PM ] Guest :no
[ 04:02:15 PM ] Acad Coordinator :ok
[ 04:02:41 PM ] :sorry we cant give you any free demo

[ 04:03:06 PM ] :Our expert tutors hold Master's degree and have long years of teaching experience.
[ 04:03:13 PM ] :Does this sound interesting?
[ 04:03:16 PM ] Guest :yea, but what the point in tutoring if i didnt learn anything?
[ 04:03:42 PM ] :why would i pay for a service that just proved that cant help me?
[ 04:04:09 PM ] Acad Coordinator :sure you can learn many things because onnce you sign up
[ 04:04:24 PM ] Guest :so this is a gamble?
[ 04:04:29 PM ] Acad Coordinator :we will be providing you unlimited session
[ 04:04:48 PM ] :dont take in a wrong way
[ 04:04:59 PM ] Guest :honeslty there is no incentive to pay for this
[ 04:05:03 PM ] :you couldnt help me.
[ 04:05:06 PM ] Acad Coordinator :You can study from the comfort of your home and flexible timings.
[ 04:05:11 PM ] Guest :so why pay fro something that doesnt help
[ 04:05:18 PM ] :...stop with the canned lines
[ 04:05:22 PM ] :talk like a human
[ 04:05:26 PM ] Acad Coordinator :Each session is for 45 minutes and you can take back to back sessions when you need help.
[ 04:05:41 PM ] :i am human being only
[ 04:05:54 PM ] Guest :then stop with the canned lines
[ 04:06:00 PM ] Acad Coordinator :believe me it will really help you a lot

Medal of Honor- Doomed to Fail?
The just announced Medal of Honor is following Tier 1 operations, the forces directly under SOCOM. When it was announced though, it sounded strikingly familiar. It sounds similar to the now canceled Six Days in Falujia. There was great controversy over the game and I fear that Medal of Honor might be doomed for the same fate.
After all, the reason that Six Days was canceled was because it was following the true story of the Battle of Falujia. Medal of Honor seems to be taking the realistic approach to modern warfare and following Tier 1 Operations. After seeing the headaches that it caused for Konami and the now deceased Atomic Studios, it's interesting that EA is gambling on this. It's not necessarily doomed to fail, but EA must exercise extreme caution when deciding how to tell the narrative. If it follows a fictional company based on Tier 1, then it might be alright, however if they are telling the direct story of Tier one, there might be some trouble. And looking at the unfinalized box art, my guess would be that they are going for a direct story. After all, the man was ripped directly from a Time Magazine photo essay from 2002 on the war in Afghanistan.

Ripped Directly from the Headlines
The grey area isn't how realistic the gameplay is (we've seen that with Modern Warfare 2), but with the narrative. Have eight years been long enough for them to make a game based on it? I surely hope so because EA can capitalize on the rich and relatively unknown story of Tier 1 and turn it into an incredible interactive experience. Tier 1 has an amazing story to tell the world; of how the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta was only 2,000 yards away from Osama and was fighting outnumbered 20 to 1. It's the overcome all odds story that game developers dream of, and it's presently starting at them in the face.

Time to Put Down Modern Warfare 2
I think it's time for me to put down Modern Warfare 2 for a while. Well, at least until they get theJavelin cheatfixed. I can't seem to play a single game without someone using it. It is really quite annoying. Fourzerotwo said that they were going to be suspending people for using it, but the transgressors are too numerous. Every single game I encounter someone using it! As far as I'm concerned, ban these people for good from playing MW2 online or better yet, ban them from Xbox Live! They are cheaters and troublemakers, and they deserve to be banned, not just suspended for a day. Why would someone care if it's just a one day suspension? The likelihood of getting caught is so insignificant that you might as well just cheat all you want. Thus I am retiring from MW2 until a patch is released for this nonsense. It should be on the way; apparently it's just waiting Microsoft's certification so it should be out by the end of the week. At least I hope so...

That smoke is from a Javelin
