Mods are what make pc gaming for every one, yeah that is right they are what make the expensive pc format worth it for rich and budget gamers alike
so...about those laptops

I've been doing some research. i traditionaly found laptops to be wastes of money in that they are so behind the technological curve and fairly week at preforming basic functions. not to mention how over priced they are for how old the tech inside most laptops is. there was also a conflict of function in the presence of moving parts in a mobile device in that the hard drive and disk drives didn't handle movement or being dropped at all.

but I'm looking at mobility since i want to give up driving and i won't be able to fly around from place to place i will be more firmly planted on campus or at work or on a train or bus. away from my home built desktop. so in searching for the mobile device of my choice i stumbled onto the mini labtops of asus, HP, MSi(google) etc... I love the size and price of these notebooks, starting at 300 dollars i was crazy for these tiny price point perfect laptops. currently i'm eyeing the asus eee pc 901, its supposed to come out at 550 will feature a 9 inch screen great 5 hours of battery life, and a solid state drive plus a fantastic touch pad featuring multi touch, oh and a great linux operating system, i went o compu center and played with the 300 series laptops from asus, i couldn't have gotten a better impression. I've got some fun designs for my new toy when i can finally order one. I'm gonna install windows, then some classic pc gamer titles like baulders gate1&2, and icewind dale 1&2, maybe some temple of elemental evil too, starcraft and warcraft 3. GTA1-2. and half life and quake 2.

I also really want to setup a remote access thing so i can run applications remotely off of my destop on the laptop, i'm not sure how this will work but i'm researching it. it would be cool if i could play call of duty or supreme commander from my desktop on my laptop. i'll settle for photoshop or solid works though, lol.

one of the things that Asus has done real well with is built a extremely modable computer, there are huge eee pc mod communities with whole guides and websites dedicated to modding the machine, installing extra internal USB memmory, Touch Screen overlays, all sorts of fun.

I'm probably gonna buy the 901 soon as it hits retail, i'll update you guys on my impressions. i still want a DS, and one of those PS3's but i think i'll settle for this laptop first.

finally.

just wanted to say i'm freakin excited for dawn of war 2, i hope it has more than just the orcs and space marines, i hope that we see the return of the tau, they were awesome, the imperial gaurd was another favorite of mine. the hords of chaos are also sweat, eldar i didn't care for too much in the previous games there were rather loopy. but i just can't wait for more info on dawn of war 2. who else is with me. plus i want to see the race that inspired the zerg for the first time. i do hope the game launches with a good four-six races. i'm so happy that relic isn't wasting all there resources on a mmo or something.

thanks alot Nvidia.

http://sg.vr-zone.com/articles/NVIDIA_GT200_:_GeForce_9900_GTX_&_9900_GT_In_Q3/5684.html

"No it is not some April Fool jokes. VR-Zone has learned that there will be two high end parts from Nvidia to replace the current GeForce 9800 GX2 and 9800 GTX in Q3. These two parts are GeForce 9900 GTX and GeForce 9900 GT based on the new GT200 architecture. GeForce 9800 GX2 and GTX will have a short lifespan since they will be replaced in a couple of months time. Nvidia has positioned GeForce 9900 GTX to replace 9800 GX2 and this gave a clue that a single GT200 card will actually outperform a dual G92 card. Likewise for GeForce 9900 GT, outperforming and replacing 9800 GTX. CJ revealed to us that Nvidia will have a hard time fitting GT200 onto the PCB since the GPU is gonna be large and very power hungry so we can probably assume it is still 65nm based. The PCB for GT200 will be P651."

basically they are doing the same thing in the 9xxx series with the 9900 as they did in the 8xxx series with the 8800 gts, this is rather frustrating that you are not only fighting the generational battle of how your GPU becomes old after a year when the new gen hits, but this would mean that the 9800 cards would be totally pointless and most likely discontinued prematurely, since the 9900 cards aim to replace them, i bought the 8800 gt 640 mb, only to have it discontinued two months later, and i can tell you it sucks, my card should have been good for another year, and to get a second one for SLI costs about the same as two 9600's for SLI and they will run faster on average. heck why not just go with the 8800 gts 512 since it's so cheap now. the news of the 9900 cards also explians why the 9800 gtx is so weak. with no real competition coming from ATI nvidia is saturating the market with pointless cards, really the 9600, 8800 cards are the only ones worth owning.

who new?

well i'm a funny guy i listen to angry screamo music, i studied martial arts, play paintball, love violent movies, and play video games and yet i'm a very mellow person who's never been in a legit fight.

Always a popular topic for discussion on the Planet Half-Life Forums are the publications and "professionals" that say video games turn today's youth into blood-thirsty killing machines in the actual world. Well, according to research by Jane Barnett at the Middlesex University, the opposite is in fact true.

"There were actually higher levels of relaxation before and after playing the game as opposed to experiencing anger but this did very much depend on personality type," she said.

"This will help us to develop an emotion and gaming questionnaire to help distinguish the type of gamer who is likely to transfer their online aggression into everyday life."
The study took some 300 people aged from 12 to 83 (no, that's not a typo, I said 83) and sat then down in front of World of Warcraft and monitored their reactions, finding that the games actually were calming instead of aggravating. How do you like them apples, Spencer Halpin?

ha i new i wasn't the only one not blowing up other people who deserved it.

what do ya guys think? please comment.

relic is usually moving at near light speed with respect to their game developement and i really want to know what they are working on, dawn of war2? homeworld 3? company of heroes 2? perhaps a new IP, and when will it hit shelves? this year or next year, relic is probably my favorite all around pc strategy developer with gas powered games and massive entertainment. i know what gas powered games has in the oven how about the other two. anyone know?
