    Weekly Phone Camera Download 31/1/10

In my last blog I showed you a few photos I had taken throughout the week for no particular reason. For exactly that same reason, I'm doing it again.

Earlier this week we decided to finally watch this bonus DVD that came with Monsters Vs Aliens. It was short but sweet.

I spent far too many hours in meeting rooms this week. I couldn't help but spin around and stare outside. Next week is looking worse with at least 20 hours worth of meetings and conferences already booked into my calendar...

A nice pick-me-up for those mid week blues, a game! I've almost finished Darksiders, so Bayonetta will get my attention next.

A light dinner later in the week at The Coffee Club was just what I needed.

I woke up at 6 this morning so the builders could come in and continue renovations to our house. What a way to start the weekend!

So that's my week in pictures. The builders are finally our of here (for now) so I think it's time for a nap!

    Weekly Phone Camera Download 24/1/10

Welcome to a new segment I like to call "Weekly Camera Phone Download!"

I plug my phone into the PC, download the photos I took during the week, upload them with comments with no other purpose but to talk about me and myself and I.

Let's kick things off with photo number 1

I took this one last Sunday. It's the loading screen of Darksiders. I found it amusing because I was about 6 hours into the game at the time and I'm still getting instructions on how to jump.

This was taken Thursday night. My wife has been upset because all our neon tetras except one had been eaten by our larger tropical fish over the past few months. Before you call us horrible pet owners, you should know they had all been living in harmony for over 4 years! I agreed that we could get a little tank for the one remaining tetra. We took this shot for measurements.

I took this photo yesterday. It's my cat - on top of a bookcase - yawning.

And the final photo is the tank! We went back and got it today after we decided it would fit nicely into the spot shown above. The tetra is swimming happily in his new house and we'll introduce some friends around this time next week.

That's it. If you're lucky I might take some more photos for the riveting entry next week! Until then, take it easy.

    The day that was

We've been spending the last few weeks in furniture stores selecting pieces to update our aging collection. There are still a few items that we need and haven't had any luck finding. Someone recommended Ikea. I had heard the name on television or radio, but didn't know anything about them. We decided to pay them a visit today.

    The drive there

This Ikea is located in the most difficult spot imaginable. Despite using the car's GPS (and then even Google Maps on my phone!) we still got lost and missed the turnoff twice.

    The parking

For some reason everyone in Brisbane decided to go to Ikea today. Yes I know what I'm saying, approximately 2 million people were attempting to get a park. After 15 minutes I was wishing it was Christmas shopping again.

    The entrance

Whoever made the decision to place furniture samples directly outside of the entrance should be shot. It only takes one family to stop and look and those 2 million people attempting to get in the door are blocked. A riot ensues.

    The pencil and map

You finally climb over the dead bodies and make your way in. You're then greeted by the most unenthusiastic person ever who gives you a map and a tiny pencil. I assume these are tools to assist you as I found out there are no staff to help you find your way around, none to help you select furniture or collect it from their warehouse, and none to help you with it to your car.

    The muster

Despite the above, we decided to have a look around. You join the muster and literally ride the wave of people around a sterile warehouse filled with ugly, cheap and generally shoddy furniture. But worst of all, it's all UN-ASSEMBLED! You may as well have cut down the tree yourself (if the furniture was made of wood that is).

    The escape

The decision to get out was soon made. We looked up and saw an arrow pointing to an exit. It told us to go straight ahead. We did, then 5 minutes later came to a dead end. We looked around and couldn't see a door, window or any sign of natural light (fire hazard anyone?). I looked at my little map and discovered the only way to exit was to complete the full muster. No shortcuts! After shoving our way through the herd of people we finally found the exit, quickly got in the car, drove to Harvey Norman and purchased the first ASSEMBLED thing we found.

    The End.
