    Welcome back

Holy crap. I just checked and I haven't posted since May. That's what a lack of games I have interest in and a MySpace page will do. All my fun blogging is over there, even some gaming news. Lately, well, there hasn't been much gaming. Even the games I was looking foward to just sort of passed by without a second glance. Right now I have my eyes set on God of War 2 and possibly S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (crap typing that out sucks) A friend also caught Guild Wars running off at a reasonable price, so it may be the newest sheep into the fold. So what games have kept my limited attention? Guitar Hero and GH2 are both reliable. I got really stuck on GH2 so I was a bit upset without seeing any possibility of progressing. I mean, damn, I was able to beat Freebird on hard in quickplay, but in career I can't get past that Living End song. Another dark horse made it into a current rotation, God Hand. While it's not amazing, it's whimsy hasn't worn off. There's nothing better than having a gamer friend of mine come over, I pop into the practice arena, and throw 100 Fist Punch or Dragon Kick and send the dummy into orbit. With that I find some things very frustrating about the game, but overall, I want to finish it.

    Trendsetter

Well, it's never been said that I'm a trendsetter, let along a trendfollower at least, but within the past month or so, I've really gotten into a "new" game. New in the sense that I've never had a highspeed internet connection and avoided online games like the plague, so I decided to pick this up at Target for a bargain price; the Counter Strike Anthology. Wow, pretty fun. I'm really loving Counter Strike: Condition Zero, and have made it to the hard tasks, damn that are hard. I also attempted my first online play of Counter Strike. Ouch. I got smoked a bunch of times. I really don't understand how I'm only visible for a second and yet get killed with a headshot every time. There truly is no room for error, that or cheating. I'm not familiar with the Counter Strike society yet anyway. I did hold my own in one game, which must mean that the people were sucky, because I had no skill. It's a very different world there. I was pretty good at UT04 when I first got into it, and recently started playing the single player again to possibly try to get online and be at least competative. I can play the computer on a very high level, I think 1 or 2 short of Godlike. And even at that, I win pretty handily at this point. This CS is a different beast though. I can't really figure out the skill of it. I don't run around like a dummy, I take into account recoil and all those sorts of things. I don't shoot at everything that moves. I would say I am fairly tactical and watch what I'm doing. But next thing I know, instant death. Before I can turn around to see who's shooting me, DEAD! I won't let the frustration get to me, it's not worth it. I haven't really been taunted yet, but also, I don't care. I just wish I could figure out how to get slightly better.

    More nothing...

So it seems my posts here are few and far between since I haven't been gaming much lately. I checked out an older demo disc I found lying around and got to test out Destroy All Humans. Now that I see the game is selling for $20, I think I may go check it out. The demo was pretty damn funny and fun as well. The flying saucer was a little too simplistic, but other than that, it was cool. Maybe some new games will pop up that will draw my attention. Til then, it's more practice on UT 2004 so when I finally get a highspeed connection, I can put up a good fight.
