    Infinite World

Hey guy, long time no blog.

This is the return of my traditional blog. I deleted my older blog for a fresh new start... But I just now started, so sorry.

this'll be like my old blog, but less stupid.

Put on your seat belts, you're in for a long one.

So yeah, summer is nearly over and as you know, that is the time when theatres are expected to get decent movies. Unfortuantly, this year nearly devoid of any quality movies.

I saw Iron man. Nice special effect, lame story, expeccially the ending. Prince Caspien was alright, actually. The Dark Knight was the awsomeness of the year I doubt any movies this year and probably even for the next few years will ever surpass it in quality. My only complaint is that Bale's tone of voice is ridiculous when ever he's batman. I just recently saw Journey to the Center of the Earth. I'll admit it was better than I expected, but they really should have just called it Escape from the center of the Earth since thats what it was really about. And I kinda think they over played the 3d gimick at times. It was cool though, and I kinda wish games would implement that kind of stuff and it was a quality movie anyway. Better than everything that wasnt the Dark Knight, wayway.

Speaking of the Dark Knight, I can't beleive their making toys and crap for kids based on this movie. No offnce to anyone, but if you ever let anyone under the age of like fourteen watch this movie, you're a terrible parent.

In other movie related news, I still can't beleive their seriously going to make a Gear of War movie. It's going to be terrible, mark my words.

For game related crap, not much is up I guess. I've been trying to finish some of my older games this summer. First I was going throug Final Fantasy VIII, then I went and played some Ocarina of Time which I really need to finish. I left off at the Forest Temple when I went and picked up Rogue Galaxy and Final Fantasy XII(and those who've been fallowing me at Gamespot may know I previously had games. If their wondering, my bad habit of trading in games I don't play very often made those two games new victims... But I got em back for cheap, and I even got the Limited Edition of FF XII, so I have made ammends with the super natural forces of gaming goodness I think). I got distracted by XII, made some limited progress and I am now setteled into Rogue Galaxy.

I have been loving Rogue Galaxy and I'd have to say if you like Jrpgs you should be immediatly ashamed for not playing this. Don't lie, I know you havent.

You do get into some typical RPG stuff in RG, but the combat system is awsome and I can't help but like most of the story. My main gripe is how stereo typical the villain is, but it's common problem among rpgs now a day.

My favorite part about this game though is the weapon synthesis system. Unlike Dragon Quest VIII's punishing one, RG's is easy and rewarding. You have this little from buy in your inventory and you just feed him a couple of weapons of the same kind you have that are the same type(For example a couple of swords), and he'll combine them in his mouth and you'll get a stronger weapon.

Theres really no risk of gettin a worse weapon. He tells you if it will be and you can decide weather to combine them anyway or have him spit back both of your weapons.

I find it very addicting and i've put in many hours just leveling up my weapons simply to see what new weapon I'll get from combining them.

Aside from the old theres not a whole lot I plan on getting this year. Infinite Undicover, Tales of Vesperia and The Last Remnant have my attention, but Im not to certain on any of them. I may just ask for them as birthday/Christmas present or some. I don't have alot of cash to spair right now ayway. Might get Sonic Unleashed if it doesnt totally suck balls like the last Sonic game.

I did manage to get a code for the Redfaction: Guerilla beta and it's pretty fun. Think Lost Planet minus constantly losing health and add destructable enviroments. Despite how fun it was though, it was nothing amazing. If I ever buy the actual game it'll be onece they mark the price down and I get tired of other better shooter(which would take a long time.

I do plan on buying Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and Gears of War 2, for certain. And I was very happy to find out yesterday that Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts will only cost fourty bucks at launch, thats twenty bucks cheaper than your average game now a day.

Banjo has quickly become my most anticipated game of the year(unless of course, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days comes out in the US this year). The environments are huge and the graphics are amazing, especially with the scale of it all in consideration. But the custmizable vehicles are really what grab me. When I get the game count on me making a replica of Metal Gear Rex.

But today I made a very awsome doscovery. A new Dragon Ball Z game. Dragon Ball Z Infinite World.

    http://www.fr.atari.com/news/dragon-ball-z-infinite-world-concentre-et-dechaine-le-meilleur-de-lunivers-dragon-ball-z-sur-playstation-2-266.html

Unfortuantly I can't read a lick of French any more(I really should brush up on it...).

Fourtantly there there are plenty of screen shots and we all know that picture are worth a thousand words... or somthing.

I'll just post two pics here though. Just to get the point across of what kind of game I expect this to be.

As you can see in this first screen shot, Goku and Jenemba are facing of in a traditional fighting way... But when I post this next screen shot...

But as you can clearly see with this screen shot the player is in a Goku and is exploring.

Conclusion- This game will be an advenure game with fighting segments, similar to that one Naruto game from Ubisoft that came out on the X-box 360 last year.

Surprisngly though it'll be for the PS2(or maybe not too surprising). Exclusively. Personally though, I wouldnt be at all surprised by a Wii port since it's a popular thing to do among game developers now a day. It beggs the question, when will the PS2 finally rol over and die? This gamer says probably never.... Not that thats a bad thing. Hopefully since it's on the PS2 it's release at around thirty bucks or somthing. It is 2008, so I do expect at least a wide screen option and I will hold it against game if it doesnt. And Progressive scane would be nice.

It's being developed by Dimps(if the battle screen didnt make that obvious enough) and it looks to be using recycled parts from Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3. I wont complain though since it was such a fantastic game.

I wonder if this means we wont get Burst Limit 2

You Can't Make a Good Sequel

Here comes a new rant. Well, not really a rate. More of an article. Or just some thoughts I wanted to share with you.

Have you ever played a sequel to one of your all time favorite games? Better yet, one that you waited months, maybe even years for? While you waited you watched all the trailers, read every update taking in all and any information about that long awaited sequel to that game you and all your friends love to play. Then the day of destiny comes. You clear out an after noon so you can play that fallow up to the master piece you've been playing all these years.

After weeks of playing the game and beating you feel as though somthing is missing. Just some how it didn't live up to the original. And so you and you're expectations are crushed and said game series will just never be the same.

You've got yet another sequel that just isnt as good as the original.

With the vast amount of sequels we see with videogames now a day it's not uncommon to see people walk away from them feeling short changed. Maybe even you have had first hand experience with bad sequels or sequels that just quite don't live up to your expectations.

So what makes a bad sequel(or one that just isnt as good as the original)?

There are many explanations that one can come up with. You'll most commonly see fans totally dislike a sequel simply due to nostalgia. The sequel is so different that it renders the game unplayable to certains series veterans or purists. Other times a game isn't different enough from the original to be as good. In the sense, regardless of how good the product actually is it's not common that every will be pleased with a sequel.

Hype can sometimes completly push some older fans away from their beloved game series. Mostly though it's those weird people that have some stupid idea that if a large group of people like one thing, it's suddenly not good.

Then theres cut content. This plagues practically every game in existence. Due to time contraints, storage mediums or to appease the ESRB a game will have to go through some cuts. And regardless of weather this knowledge is made public or not all big and orambitious game title have cuts made to them. And sometimes this is painfully obvious. Cuts deffinatly don't ruin a game, but they can really leave fans dissapointed, and the unreasonable ones will probably let that get in the way of enyoment of a game.

Is there any way to avoid this? Certainly. First I would suggest you all to expect the reasonable. Sequels are for the fans to get more of what they liked from the original. So you really shouldnt expect a sequel to stray far from the original's footsteps. At the very least though a sequel should be at least as good as the original. You shouldnt expect it to change the game industy or revolutionize. If does, let it be a bonus to what already should be there. And sometime, you might be better off not consuming ll the info on a game prior to it's release so that you wont spoil any surprises for yourself and you might not see the missing content from the pre-release trailers.

In the end though, regardless of how good a sequel really is not everyone will like it. For some it's not different enough, other it's not roo different. Others will be dissapointed because of high expectations, reasonable or not. Really, game developers can just hope that at least a large portion will enjoy the fruits of their labor.

So have you ever been dissapointed by a sequel?

ps- please kill more Covenant in Halo 3 plz
