Initiating Barrel Roll Sequence
Welcome ladies and gentlemen to a brand new blog entry from DeadMarch! This is where you can find helpful insights into gaming, that didn't even exist until I thought of them!
This week, I have squeezed my brain for the true meaning of skill. To accomplish anything meaningful with your life, you're going to need a healthy dose of this juice. It may seem like hard work and toil, but there are chemicals in our brain that mind **** you whenever you achieve impossible feats of dexterity.
There are many highly difficult games out there like Darksouls, Devil May Cry, and just about anything on insane, godly or hell on earth difficulty settings. To conquer these beasts, it is important to know, that when you start, you will suck at it. You're going to get beaten to a bloody pulp, you won't know where to go, you won't know your ass from your hat.
There are also two classifications of these games, you have games that take learning to make it though, and games that are just god damned punishing and cheap. Obviously, you want to avoid the later option, games like Call of Duty/Halo on Veteran/Legendary are good examples of this. They teach you to sit on your ass and pick off enemies like a **** and how to better cope with the frustration of dying to random ****
The best games, are the ones that reward your skill with success. Most games in which require complex button combinations, quick thinking, reflexes, precise timings and strategy are the best, and are usually highly popular. Fighting games have been undergoing a rebirth phase for this reason. Shooters also encompass many of these qualities, some more than others of course, CoD for example can be broken down to coordination, reflexes and connection... mmm...
Now, to actually learn to play a game well, you must know that you are not alone. All of your greatest heroes that you worship were never alone either, they all had comrades, people that guide them forwards, motivate them, and teach them. This is why we go through an entire decade of education. We need someone there to help light the way through the darkness. So, whenever you make a fresh start, you should always be looking for people more skilled than you, or at a similar level. You can even look for a written guide, or a video on youtube.
Finally, you need to put in the time and effort, we as people are very flawed and cannot fully retain every piece of information that we encounter, so we have to do things again and again and again.... ad infinite. And even then, we will never be perfect. All you can then hope for is to be the best you out there. Go get your game/life on, ****
