  Movie Recommendation #27.

  Since it's Halloween, here's a cult classic horror film you should check out.

  Movie: The Evil Dead, 1981.

  Plot: Five friends are making their way through the Tennessee wilderness to a small cabin they've rented for a vacation from college. Once at the cabin, the group settles in and are looking forward to having a great time together. Upon exploring the cabin, the group discovers a strange book, and a tape recorder from the previous occupant. Turning on the tape recorder, the previous occupant was apparently an archaeologist that had discovered an ancient relic called "The Book of the Dead." Out of curiosity and fascination, the group continues to listen to the recording. The archaeologist begins to recite a passage from the book, which awakens the demons and evil within mankind's domain. The evil spirits begin to slowly pick off members of the group one by one through demonic possession. Those who are still human are now in a fight for their lives, and must find a way to escape the cabin before it's too late.

  One of the most creative, shocking and suspenseful films ever conceived, The Evil Dead launched the careers of director Sam Raimi, and actor Bruce Campbell. The Evil Dead was later followed by two sequels (Evil Dead II, 1987 and Army of Darkness, 1993) that also received critical acclaim. Whether you like horror movies or not, The Evil Dead is terrifying adventure with lots of action and gore to keep you asking for more.

  Saw VI.

  These past few weeks have been really stressful for me, school has been a pain because most of my classes suck so that's why I'm never around much. I won't be here this weekend, me and my Dad are going to see a Cleveland Browns game. Since it's the Browns I'm not expecting anything, but it should be fun to be there at the stadium.

  With that out of the way, I'll give you my thoughts on the latest chapter of the Saw franchise.

  To be honest I wasn't expecting much, but I will say it's a little better than Saw IV and V. The overall scenario was kind of interesting and suspenseful. If there's one thing I admire about the Saw films is that they're all able to connect to each other and keep the plot from going off track in different directions which is something that rarely happens in a horror franchise. The downside was that I really didn't understand the ending, but I guess I could always rent it when it's released on DVD. But overall, it was an alright movie.

  With the announcement of Saw VI, I really thought it was going to be the last. Kind of like two trilogies, each with their own characters and settings and they all come full circle in the last chapter. Well, I was wrong. Saw VII is set to be released for Halloween 2010.

  Aliens, Zombies and Freddy Oh My!

  It's been awhile, but I guess that's what happens when you have school to bother you all the time. I've been struggling with a few of my classes lately, so I might not be around as much. But I hope to get things back on track real soon. With that out of the way, here's other stuff that's been going on.

  I got Halo 3: ODST about a week ago. I will say that it's a very fun game with great controls, graphics, and music. The only downside to the game is that it's way too short. I feel like I should have waited for the price to drop, because honestly this game should have been priced at $30.

  

  I also saw the movie Zombieland a few days ago, and it was actually a really good movie. Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray were great, and there was plenty of action and humor in every part of the movie. If you liked Shaun of the Dead, then you'll definitely like this.

  

  Last, a new trailer for the upcoming re-make of A Nightmare on Elm Street was released a few days ago. I'm actually looking forward to seeing this. For one thing A Nightmare on Elm Street is my favorite slasher film, and the re-make is going to include many of the iconic scenes from the original Elm Street which at least shows they're being faithful to the original. Plus it will be great to see Freddy again, he's honestly the greatest villain I have ever seen.
