It’s midget-punching time! This week on Crosshairs, we play action racer Split/Second, trudge around a postapocalyptic waste planet with Borderlands, and go in to bat for games that we think deserve to be made into Hollywood blockbuster films. Check it out!

Mmmm I give them points for mentioning Gir, but apart form that lil annoying but decent content, might look forward to borderland if it turns out as well as I hope, and SPlit/Second now has my attention looking forward to see how that works.

Actually STALKER was supposed to have co-op and that was in development WELL before Gearbox even had their first original IP. Sure, the final game didn't ship with it, but don't act like it was Gearbox's idea, Randy Pitchford.

It's obvious that STALKER had an influence on Borderlands as a post-apocalyptic open-world hardcore-shooter with some RPG elements layered on top. Surprised I haven't seen a single interview where any dev actually mentions STALKER as an influence, whereas a lot of games have further developed many things it brought.

guitarist1980 is completely correct about Borderlands versus Fallout 3. If id Software were to build an FPS for Bethesda to RPG-up, I think we'd have a winner.

And I wish the game allowed cross-platform co-op for GFWL and XBL. Co-op seems to be where it's at, but all my LIVE friends are on 360 while I plan on buying this game on PC.

I cant wait for borderlands...looks pretty sick, and it seems prety unique. And for people who are just itching to compare it to other games. We HAVE so many games out now-a-days that its kinda impossible not to use an element thats close to another video game.

I really think that Borderlands can be a hit

I keep hearing people comparing this to fallout 3, Borderlands is going way out of the box with this game, Fallout 3 was an rpg with sub par real time gun play. Lets face it most of us paused the game and used vats to blow off people heads, in Borderlands there will be no pausing, its real time fps action mixed with diablo like elemants, very innovative and I have been waiting for a game developer to blend my too favorite genre's. I understand why people compare it at first glance but these 2 games are very far apart in the way your going to play. I can see myself just running dungeons (mines) just hooking my character up with crazy ass guns for days. Fallout 3 offered nothing like that. I would however give the story and lore to Fallout, I just dont think the story in Borderlands will be that engaging but you never know.

These people are massively boring in their delivery. Can..I..read..off..a..cue..card..more..painfully..time..will..tell.

While I really really want to check out the content, I don't know that I can listen to this for 28 minutes. Maybe I mute it and just watch the visuals? That seems to be the solution.

I love it in games when the developers work hard, but they don't take it too serriously! They enjoy making games that will bring laughs at the same time as amazing experiences to gamers!

Pitchford is definitely excited about Borderlands. There's been a lot of talk about the enormous amount of weapons that will be available in the game, so it was nice to hear some "behind the scenes" info on how the weapons are actually generated. Creating a new AI to mix and match different aspects of any given weapon is pretty damn cool. This game can't come out soon enough.
