This is why I re-love Gamespot. These guys know their gaming, and don't mind the debate getting heated and complex at times. IGN's highschool approach and Giantbombs "let's just laugh at the flaws" style just doesn't have that. (Disclaimer: I realize there are more to the aforementioned sites than that, but put on yer recklessly generalizing hat and perhaps you can see where I'm coming from ;-))

GameSpot's editors know a thing or two about long-winded pontifications proclaiming [enter game here] as better than [enter game here]. Civilized battle royale time? You betcha!
@Magrino @shaunmc @Chris_Watters @TomMcShea @KevinV More 'My Esteemed Colleagues'!!! That is all.
@Magrino, lol. :P Past few weeks have been crazy work-wise and I've actually come ONLINE again only today. Geez.
@Toysoldier34: No worries :) If you check out the site at www.metaga.me they actually just announced their first expansion pack.
@JusticeCovert Alright thanks for the info. I was planning on buying maybe two decks if they were different, but if they are the same I can just get one and keep an eye out for additional decks as they release.
@shaunmc sorry about that just a spelling mistake. and i didnt mean any offense with my comment. i merely believe that everything you do even if affected outside stimuli is a decision you make. The events that occur might be random but ur decisions and the way you deal with them are not. im sorry if i offended you.
This is awesome, and in the spirit of arguing in metagame I will provide a short argument why it's great. The main reasons is that this is entertaining for many audiences and it is eduactional. For people who know a lot about the game industry, we understand the games you are talking about and we can find joy in your struggles to make hard arguments for games. For people who don't know about the game industry, they will be baffled at the thought and existence of some of these games but find it enjoyable at the weird arguments the panel makes. They will become intrigued and look up the games after the show. Finally it is educational. Many people wouldn't know there's a boxing kangaroo in Tekken. Others may not know about the existence of Scribblenauts. Or maybe you will just be interested in how you can debate games that are taken out of their usual genre or descriptive words. Anyway, great show Gamespot, keep up the great work.
@sidh9u5 We didn't forget, we just have to argue for the game on the card we're dealt. If I had my choice, I certainly wouldn't have picked Pong for most open-ended!
nice show.... btw everyone forgot braid in the "Most Complex Game Round" or something??
windwaker was amazing.... I don't know why people hate it so much (or well at least the people who do hate it?)
Good stuff guys. Keep them coming and I will continue to watch. Perfect length! Filled up my whole lunch break.
Pretty cool show. Hope to see more eps. I would like to see a debate with Gamespot US vs Gamespot UK staff in the near future.
well i love this i actually busted up laughing throughout the whole show. and for the final round Shawn is completely right he is a genius because the human expirence is completely random shawn man have been born be china or russia or south africa or brazil but no shawn was born where ever he was born and thus lead to his experience on this show which resulted in his unique choices for scrible notes based solely on his random existence. The only guy who knows what shawn gonna do (if you believe in him and i think tom does) is god so that proves he is random so HA beat that guys
Lol. Hilarious. I love these guys. I am going download this and listen to it when I have to do some dry errand to lighten up my day.
This was a lot of fun to watch. While I love the silliness of the Hotspot podcast, I also like it when the panel dives into a more academic discussion of games and gaming. This was a nice balance that the Hotspot used to have, that I feel for some reason was missing the last few episodes. Hope to see another of these at some point.
This was very entertaining. I hope it continues for a while and can't wait for next week's episode. Chris was certainly the standout and he seems to have a natural gift for this type of debating. The other three gave noble efforts though. And big props to Kevin V. His argument for Angry Birds was freakin hilarious. And ignore the haters, Tom. You were fine. They're just InFamous 2 and Zelda fans no doubt.
