@manicwagon the ps3's controller's analog sticks are a little awkward especially coming from gaming on the 360, but i actually find the ergonomics pretty comfortable, and not to mention the d-pad is much better for fighting games than the 360 in my opinion.
i agree with rarson. there were plenty of neat thingamajigs shown in the video, but i would've liked to hear more about them, or at least know just from the title that the gadgets wouldn't be properly introduced. interesting, but doesn't satisfy the curiosity!
@Darnasian Yes, I realize you can modify a controller. However, I don't think I should have to to get an ideal controller.
The Entertainment Software Association, the association behind E3, supports SOPA, which will censor the internet. If they support SOPA, then gamers can't support E3. Please spread this message to every comments section and send it around, demanding that Gamespot does not attend or cover E3 unless the ESA changes their stance on the bill.
A lot of this tech has potential if the right company gets a hold of it and integrates it with other things.

@rarson You know u can modify a controller...do u? My cousin modified his Dualshock 3 controller after his xbox broke and changed analogs/sticks...L3,R3 joysticks.... So yeah if you want to see that you can modify it yourself and play with it cuz it's totall playable...
@rarson The ps3 thumbsticks are convex, the 360 sticks are concave. Not sure if I have a preference on those, but I do like the d-pad better on the ps3 controller and definitely prefer the triggers on the 360 controller. But honestly I like both controllers fine. My wish would be that the next gen control pads have at least 2-4 more buttons. Perhaps a hard-wired 'shift' button that changes the entire layout when pressed, for rpg's and mmo's that need all the hot keys. The touch screen concept seems interesting, but until I see what the wii-U does with it, I'm not sure how important it is.
Let's hope that Nintendo will actually use a graphics card in the Wii U that is from the last 5 years, unlike the Wii's card that was antiquated the moment it launched. [insert raging fan boy's thumbs down here]
@manicwagon Few changes doesn't mean it's outdated. The only real problem with it is the trigger buttons. Well, that and the fact that the buttons are labeled with geometric shapes and aren't brightly colored. What I'd like to see is an Xbox 360 controller with the PS3 d-pad (in the same location as the PS3 controller) and concave sticks like the PS3. Or, a PS3 controller with 360 triggers and brightly colored buttons with letters on them.
Awesome, a 2 minute video that shows random clips of all the different tech at CES and doesn't bother to explain anything but the battery-less piezo remote and a tiny projector. Thanks for wasting my time, Gamespot.
When is the "Next Generation" in gaming going to get here for mul ti-platform games, been waiting along time now, PC gamer!!! Excellent technology tho!!!
Trying to appeal to the casual gamer through expensive novelty items is a dead-end market, it will only produce an overabundance of poorly produced and manufactured products, and disenfranchisement amongst the general consumer. I wish we wouldn't have to see an entire generation of gaming fail before we realize this. The "casual gamer's" are not those who have disproportionately donated their hard earned money to the cause of advancing the most looked-down-upon of all media (gaming); the core gamer is, and now we are being ignored. There has been countless technological far-reaching advancements thanks to the gaming world (whose home, honestly, is elsewhere and far from gaming); all of which has been funded by the core gamer. Currently it seems fewer and fewer developers are coming out with new content we enjoy. also, @capthappy8p , the PS3 controller is a woefully outdated design. Short of awkwardly tacking on two thumb-sticks to the PS1 controller; there has been no significant change in simple ergonomics since 1996.
360 and ps3 controllers are the best ways to game on console period, I dont want a 10" tablet based pc to help me keep my inventory and other bull poop, cause when i game i dont want to look away from the screen during intense shootouts or racing games.
so all in all, next xbox and playstation will have wireless bendable controllers using solar batteries..??? *I foresee accidental controller breaks due to angry moments of gaming*
glasses free 3d looks kool but i bet it doesnt pop out at u as much as when u use the glasses. lol that sony space helmet thing is so stupid no one wants to wear that on their face
@Spacemancer @MXVIII I never said anything about motion controls being the future, simply a step away from a traditional controller. Personally, I don't think anything will ever truly replace the keyboard/mouse setup or the traditional console controller. It's entirely possible that what we've hit a plateau in terms of control schemes, with keyboard/mouse and controller being the pinnacle until we come up with some sort of system that lets us control technology with out minds.
this is the feature? Make the next generation consoles when you have something to show and most importantly don't rush things because currect gen has still things to offer.

@Mariner32 In terms of accuracy vs keyboard and mouse yes, they did actually, although they are innovative for technology, they still aren't anything innovative to match up to keyboard and mouse, unless its an adapter to make keyboard and mouse work on xbox, which I have only seen from Razer for the PS3.
@Mariner32 Yeah the Wii, Move, and kinect passed me by in the 80s along with 3D. Have yet to see anything that will replace a keyboard and a mouse, in fact the closest thing is a keyboard made out of light which was cool, but still a keyboard. As for the controller, you really trying to tell me that Wii sports is the future of gaming, because I see nothing that these motion controls do now that they didnt do in the 80s, and still havent shown anything that makes me want to put down my controller much less replace it all together.
@Spacemancer "still waiting for something innovative in console controls"? Did the Wii, MOVE, and Kinect somehow pass you by? OT: How exactly does that electric polyester add another input method? You can't really just say that and not give us possibilities. Is it touch pad? Does it bend like the other controller they have? Inquiring minds want to know! Incorporating the mini projector into the console would be an amazing idea, though. It would most likely make prices explode but having a console be it's own display device would make it infinitely more versatile in terms of placement and portability.
Bendy controls? Too inaccurate, sorry but nothing will beat the accuracy of a mouse and keyboard, still waiting for something innovative in console controls though, have at you manufacturers!
