    This reviewer complains about the game being dull and boring, but so are his reviews. This, Uncharted 2, and InFamous.... great games with bad reviews by Tom McShea.

    their not trying to be biased. the game is actually pretty bad. i own it and i do not enjoy being attacked by aliens coming out of nowhere while hearing Prometheus saying "what's taking you forever?!" and the ASE constantly beeping at me. in my view the only thing good is multiplayer.

    Why would people even attempt to produce FPS taste on Wii? If you want mind-blowing fun FPS's, get an Xbox360....if you want 86% of everything, get a Playstation 3...and...well...for those of you STILL loyal to Nintendo...I suppose Link, Mario universe, & Sonic games...w/e... maybe the Wii is for you?

    I own all 3 consoles, they each have their strengths, but lets face it: Just because The Conduit is on the Wii shouldn't give it a handicap. This is a terrible game. If this game were to come out on any of the other 2 consoles no one would care. This is the only game to get FPS Wii controls right, and now we are already seeing Microsoft and Sony show off their own Motion-Sensor controllers. This is too little too late.

    The conduit is a good game!

  • amandathomas21

    Posted Aug 30, 2009 7:03 pm PT

    The Conduit's multiplayer is the worst part of the game! I find that Nintendo Could Have done a way better job with the online play because in essence that's what alot of the player's are going to go and play over and over not campaign mode. The maps are boring the loading doesn't always get you into a match it will freeze sort of then you wither have to wait the game out or restart the game :@ And for campaign mode I hated the ending it was extremely didfficult to beat on medium difficulty alone simply because of the high number of aliens, puppets, and trust ppl there was wave after wave of them and it was just frustrating. There should have been some sort of epic boss battle at the end of the game to make it alot more interesting and fun. Even if it's te first time Nintendo has tried something like this they still could have made the story a little better and as said in the review maybe added some vehicle scenes. The game could have been alot better all in all

  • johnnyauau

    @xtremeflem2day.

    Yes, the online and graphics maybe flawed but I can't fault Nintendo trying for the first time. The online is not like Yahoo Messenger but there's less chance of hackers going in and ruining the messaging experience and that's the same with voice chat. Really the friend codes are there so you won't have to worry about strangers or people that you don't want to be friends with. As for graphics, even if the graphics looks bad, the only important thing is the attention to detail. You just want to see clearly what you are looking at. Not jack up the sharpness or get obsessed with Xbox360 and PS3 and saying technology is the key to better graphics. The Wii might not have the best graphical technology but you can rest assured what you're seeing is something special and not so complex that it grabs your attention. In short, at least the online on Wii is more secure than Xbox360 and PS3, and the graphics did a good job of conveying the type of game we are playing. If you look past these flaws and start thinking more on the positives, I think you'll become a positive role model and someone who cares what you're going through.

    @johnnyauau totally agree. and i think its worth noting that despite it being "generic" the conduit is the only title where i have ever played the story again after ive beat it

  • xtremeflem2day

    Posted Aug 27, 2009 11:19 am PT

    @remixbaby44

    The wii is not meant for online gaming, you have different accounts for each game, while the xbox 360 and ps3 have gamer profiles, with the xbox 360 for example, you can message and chat w/ friends who are playing a different game than you, and most games support 16-18 players, not 12. The games that support only 6-8 are games that won't be any good if there were more people. Honestly, with games like the conduit, they only managed to accomplish controls that arent glitchy, and if you want to talk about graphics, see what good graphics are by playing killzone 2 or gears of war. FOCUS ON WHAT MAKES THE WII UNIQUE, and any farther with shooters, get a ps3 or 360. Lets not say that the wii is a bad system, because its not, but its focused on old style gaming, their big hits like mario galaxy, zelda, and Super smash arent really that different their versions from over 10 years ago, but are still fun.

  • johnnyauau

    @remixbaby44

    Thanks. It's so hard nowadays to find the positives when people are so focused on the negatives that I might react to it. I'm still uncertain whether the Wii speak works in this game but it will be a long time until the accessories catches on. It's been a long time since I heard about High Voltage Software. I never knew until there's a game called Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, the only D&D for Gamecube and it looks better on the Wii with component cables. I hope the game developers could make out more quality games that works well with the Wii.

    @johnnyauau & xtremeflem2day

    wii is the future of fps if companies do it right. conduit has great graphics and controls with somewhat bland gameplay. but they did the controls right. isnt that the major issue with wii games? the controls? and conduit proves wii can do online fps, albeit with no vioce chat. but hey it has 12 people in it, more than damnation, ghostbusters, and several other sony/microsoft fps titles

  • johnnyauau

    Posted Aug 24, 2009 6:53 pm PT

    @extremeflem2day

    Well I have to say at least the third party support is starting to improve. They should stick with cartoon games but there is some games that works well with adults. Shooting games still is more accessible on the Wii because you use the Wii remote as a gun and the best one is Metroid Prime Corruption and Call of Duty World at War. Just so you know, I'm now waiting for The Grinder, RE The Darkside Chronicles and COD Modern Warfare. The downside, the Australian release takes a long time and I have to wait around the end of this year and I'm an Australian. Anyway, I'm an all rounder I think any game either casual or hardcore is still worth playing but I respect your opinion on this.

  • xtremeflem2day

    @ johnnyauau

    ill admit that ive done some trolling for the wii, and have been lost "Gamespot XP" a couple of times for it, but im done with that. I've been one to like shooters, and the wii just isnt for that, but the mario games are all classic, i downloaded Mario 64 onto my wii (unfortunately i cant find any more stars in it =D). IMO, Nintendo seems to be the only company who can make good games for the wii, and most of the other games are just junk, not all, but most, and I think the conduit review is accurate, the wii should stick with its expertly designed cartoon games, which is what makes it unique, and leave the big hardcore shooters to microsoft and sony.

  • johnnyauau

    Posted Aug 23, 2009 8:53 pm PT

    You make a good point xtremeflem2day. Xbox360 and PS3 are superior to the Wii because their online is more accessible. I think it's a while for the Nintendo company to be able to make online work so that could be the reason. Also in real life, you have to reload your gun and try get accurate shots without the crosshair but it's close enough. If you have anything else I'm open to it.

  • xtremeflem2day

    Posted Aug 23, 2009 12:54 pm PT

    the controls for the conduit are just different, but not any better. There is no way with todays tech that they are going to be able to make aiming a gun in a video game just like aiming a gun in real life, you have pinpoint accuracy from hip fire in this game, but thats not how it is in real life. You dont have a crosshair, you have to deal with recoil and all that. If you want to talk about shooters and online play xbox 360 and ps3 are way superior to the wii. If you talk about creative cartoon design, puzzles, stuff that kids, adults, old people, can enjoy, then nintendo's games like mario galaxy, zelda, and others are good for it. Xbox 360 and ps3 have a couple games like that, but the wii has a better selection for that type of game.

  • johnnyauau

    Posted Aug 22, 2009 8:27 am PT

    I suppose everyone judge the game by its cover and saying "Nintendo Wii is inferior to Xbox360 and PS3". Our lives would be different if Nintendo follows their direction in tighter controls and high tech graphics. The only point that's missed is simple as repeating themselves. Nintendo is smart in design and accessibility. Not to go too far on this subject but "The Conduit" is a decent example. I know that everything else is bad but at least the graphics excels well at a technical standpoint and compare to PS3 and Xbox360, nothing can match the precision to the Wii motion controls. As for serious games, I wouldn't care that much except to be entertained. I hope its not too much. You might not get my point.

  • Tim1607

    Posted Aug 22, 2009 12:17 am PT

    Why does everyone go on about "good for the wii"? It's like everyones giving it some sort of handicap just because its for the wii, if you want a quality shooter go out and buy and xbox, they cost the same. Ive had a wii, xbox 360 and PS3 for the last two years, and the xbox is by far the best for everything. The conduit has crap graphics that are apparently great in everyone elses eyes just because Nintendo can't make a serious console.

  • SocialAnXieTy

    Posted Aug 19, 2009 2:31 am PT

    I didn't realize we were still in the age where 12-player multiplayer featuring voice chat was groundbreaking. This game looks like a decent rental, but aside from that it seems incredibly lacking in the 'quality' department.

  • tj_odee

    Posted Aug 14, 2009 5:20 pm PT

    I don't agree with this guy at all. Even though the conduit has alot of flaws, I love it. It's probably the best wii game next to mario kart wii and brawl. This was an excellent attempt at a FPS for the wii.

  • xtremeflem2day

    Posted Aug 14, 2009 9:20 am PT

    The problem is, the wii is really only good for some sports games, and for the classic cartoon games like mario galaxy and SSB brawl. They better stop attempting online shooters, the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 are for that, and much more. the controls arent any better than analog sticks, its just that this is one of the few shooters on Wii that stopped itself from having sucky, glitchy, controls.

    I finally received The Conduit for my b-day and I love it! I only own a Wii and the graphics are amazing, especially the water effects and bump mapping. Also, my wife and I really enjoy the multiplayer and it only takes a few minutes to get into an online match, so I don't know why peeps complain so much. She says it reminds her of Unreal Tournament, which is another game she loves to play. The SP can be challenging at times, but it's still fun and there are many different environments (the airport, a subway car, an underground bunker, outside at the Jefferson Memorial, etc..) so I'm not sure why peeps keep lying about this game. I highly recommend this game to all Wii owners who want to see more games with excellent Wii graphics and fun online play.

    So, here's what I decided. I'll still check GameSpot's reviews to compare IGN.com and Nintendo Power's review scores. GameSpot's scores mean nothing to me.

    BAM! It's the Vede!

    Did we just watch the same review? He repeated the same things about three time each. It looked like he was really struggling to make the review 5 minutes long. Although the review is accurate, the wording and presentation could use some work. You have to remember, they are getting paid to do this, its not just some backyard projec.

    look i got a wii, and have several games for it, so i know what the wii has and doesnt have, plus the reviews give you an idea of games are good, based on ones opinion. My point being: Accurate review, the controls are best for Wii so far, but repeating, shallow gameplay, and if you are playing a hard difficulty there is no excuse for respawning enemies that keep you pinned down to cover, if there is any cover.

  • Teckblader

    Posted Jul 21, 2009 5:57 pm PT

    @ xtremeflem2day
    Sure there are lot of good games for the wii, you have to open your eyes and check the it out before criticizing. but whats wrong with the graphics? I thought that games meant to be fun AND to escape reality for a while. The graphics are fine it has to look like a game not a video. And about the games: the xbox and ps3 has almost the same game library. dead space... woo hoo its written port all over it. The wii is unique ( no im not a fanboy) with different games, the ps3 and xbox are great to but they don't have much variety as the wii does. the wii is very underrated because its a target for companies who are trying to sell bad games based of a movie or something. what about No more heroes? sure you can say its only hack and slash but halo is the same with the shooting part. so don't judge a book by its cover.
