Winning Eleven 9 is the best soccer game I've played and much better than rival games. If you like soccer this is the game to play because it has the most realistic gameplay. Unlike other games, in WE9 you can not just run down the field, dribble through everyone, and score nor can you just shoot from outside the box and score half the time. In this game in order to score it takes a combination of passing, tactics, off the ball movement, vision, control, and finishing just like in a real soccer game. The game is not as automatic when passing, shooting, and controlling the ball which means the player has more manual control over the game creating a more realistic feel. The graphics are good with detailed faces that actually look like the players and quality animations which match what is happing in the game. The sound effects are good such as when striking the ball however the commentators get extremely repetitive and say things that are redundant or wrong. The game has a lot of replay value as there are 6 difficulty settings and many tournaments to play through such as the world cup and champions league. There is also a manager mode where you start from scratch in a lower division and have to work your way up to the top by buying new players or developing young talent by getting them experience. Another great feature is that after each match, money can be collected to unlock bonuses such as classic players and teams from other eras. The only serious problem with this game is that the legal rights to all the teams and players were not acquired so many teams and players have fake names which is really lame. Although, they do have the rights to the best international teams and some of the best leagues such as Serie A and La Liga. The bottom line is that the game is fun, tense, and challenging when up against the computer or other players.
